Saying Things

Saying things safely like you're the boss
Saying things safely like I'll never make you cross
Saying things truthfully like I love you
Saying things truthfully like I trust you

Saying things knowingly as we share emotions
Saying things knowingly that God will bless our devotion
Saying things gratefully and beyond measure
Saying things gratefully you are my greatest treasure

Saying things hopefully as we walk together
Saying things hopefully and to keep forever
Saying things you already knew
Saying things like I love you

To Clap Or Not To Clap

To clap or not to clap
That is the question
Whether it is nobler to clap only when there is a great performance
And give the slings and arrows of absolute silence
Or to yell out insults of ridicule
To die on stage
To sleep no more
And by to say we end our future performances
So there will be no heartache from a thousand natural shocks
The crowds seems more into consumption of their sandwiches
Their beer swilling
Now there's the rub
But I still have a dream
To perform a performance that will give them hope
Make them dream
May there be all bad performances forgotten
And all good ones remembered forever
And that the clapping and good will
Will be mine

No one to come

I know there is no one to come
But I still have my windows open
Gazing hopefully
Into the distant pathways
Where the flowers have fallen
I am Just waiting in the patio
For the someone
I know will never come
But I have a chair ready for
I know there is no one to know my door
But I still hear the knocks
Rush to the door
Just to come back to know
There was no one at the door
I know the spring would never come
But I still have a swing on the branch
On the flowering tree
Where we could swing together
if someone comes
I know I am alone in the suset
But I leave a space in the bench
For someone to sit
Put the hands over my shoulder
I know all no one would ever come
But I wait here hoping
Just incase …….

Anomaly

The snow in the middle of spring
How abnormal is it.
As if the day light cut
Into my night dream,
As if the cities are drowned
In a snowy road.
As if the happiness
Is stalled
And the earth is stopped.
What was it all?
Maybe the Moon
Felt madly in love
With the North Pole?

Natures canvas

Flowing across the street
as if doing something so
simple as to take a walk.
Delighting my eyes with
the colors of the rainbow.
Music playing as it roars
into a crescendo rising up
to great you as if to say
H..E..L..L..O..
This music is carried on
the winds of the world as
it is being played just
for you.
Open your eyes ears to all
the beauty that is before
you it might surprise you.

Mosquito Coast

The Indians thought they had it most
the English brought them tea and toast
the Spanish weren't a worthy host
the Father, Son and Holy Ghost
the airline tickets in the post
the weathers fine you have to boast
but its hard to find a Sunday roast
if your chips are down on the Mosquito Coast

What If

What if I had eaten fruit and vegetables?
Instead of cheese and chips
What if I had worked out every day?
Instead of watching too much tv
What if I had applied myself when I was teaching?
Instead of lying on my bed buried under a thousand harsh words?
What if I had a good sense of humor?
Instead of going over and over an insult I had received
What if I had learned to play an instrument?
Instead of looking for excuses to not even try
What if I had gotten married?
Instead of waking up each morning feeling the sting of lonliness
What if I had had children?
Instead of worrying about the work and material cost
What if everyone would just accept people who are different?
Instead of judging them and excluding them
What if all people were free from fear of harm?
Instead of worrying about landmines and evil leaders
What if we could make this a better world?
Instead of just writing about it
What if

About this poem:
Just going over some things I have wished would be better. Just like in the movie PeeWee's Big Adventure, "You can't wait for things to happen, you have to make them happen."

Mixed up thoughts

Mix your thoughts
All jumbled up
Life's body grows from seed to dust
From youth to adults we gather are thoughts
Who are we why we here where we going we do not know
On are sole journey
Full of life highs and lows
We battle are thoughts
Are dreams are thoughts
On are journey are independent life

Stealing

It's #7 of the commandments
Stealing is really bad
It comes in many forms
I see at work in our lost benefit that cost five people their jobs
I see it in my family as my mom waits to be put in a home
Her home stolen from her by her favorite grandson
Six years of not working and taking for every dime she had left
I see it with my friend who has estranged himself from his family
From years of taking with no intention of paying it back
I see it in our national debt that steals interest on our saved money
And a future of possible financial meltdown
I see it in our devalued money where 13 dollars in 1979
Would be worth over 44 dollars today
I see it in our wages
High interest loans that have made more money than gambling as of late
I experience it every day as the covid 19 response has stolen freedom
Freedom to go see a ballgame, freedom to gather together, and jobs from people
Theft
It's not what I want in my life

About this poem:
We lost our WOW program at work due to five people who were using the program to line their pockets, and my mom waits to see her freedom stolen from her as her beloved grandson has used her love as a whip against her.
