Along Came You

Because the world is on a string
Because the world don't mean a thing
The sky above and hell below
Can't stop the way I feel.. so let it show

Like a baby's breath or the way we die
There are times in life that don't come twice
Then along came you and shined your light
Illuminate.. my darkest night

When all the children come to play
When all the wolves are kept at bay
When the whole world now is on it's own
Can't stop the way I feel.. so let it go.

Miles Away

I'm lying here in the night, miles away.
As I close my eyes, I start to cry, wishing
to be in your arms again, miles away.
I ask myself, why am I miles away?
I'm holding back my tears now & smiling
while I think of you, miles away.
Someday soon I won't be miles away.
But until then, I'm really missing you...
from miles away.

About this poem:
I'm a truck driver, I use to drive over-the-road & when I was seeing someone at that time, it was really hard to be away from him...needless to say it didn't work out with us :(

"Take the risk"

SO scared to risk a try at love once more
So wary to unlock this door
For I placed my heart behind a door of steel
Promised myself never again to love shall I yield

I've been broken-hearted and hurt before so I decided to turn my back on love forevermore
So distraught I thought I'd never believe in fairy-tales again
Happy endings were sought after in vain
But through pure coincidence we met
Now my promise I want to forget

I want to believe in second chances
I want to believe in happiness and romances
But each time I take a step toward you and me
Something pulls me back from indulging completely

For there's always the chance It could be fake
There's always a possibility my fragile heart can break
In life there's no insurance policy against heartbreak
Just enter love blindly and trust in fate

But to love and to lose is better than to never experience love at all
It's all a part of life,the ups,the downs,the rise and the falls
So I take the risk and give you my heart
A gift most precious as I trust you not to tear it apart
Now I belong to u explicitly
For my heart,my body and my soul now belongs to you entirely

I set light to our dreams

Holding a lighter in my left hand with our dreams in my right
Poured enough oil on it to let it burn throughout the night
Sick, and painful… to watch your dreams partnered with someone else’s burn in the devils light
The way you used to touch me
Nothing but a burnt distant memory
I even threw the flower you gave me on our first date, in the fire to lay
Burt to the stem, the kisses you gave me on that day rotting on my cheek like tooth decay
I feel your hands still on me as I curl up by the fire
Watching our dreams going up in sparks, glittering as it bursts up with each flicker
I can feel us, as one, I want that feeling to burn away
I hate you, is what I want to think but I love you keeps forcing its way
Jumping in to my throat every time I see you.
My nails almost poetic how they want your body to tear into
Like they used to, every night our passionate side was never dull
Surprising… as you had another girl in the back of your mind
Did you think of her to get through doing it with me?
The question that eats away my sanity

Help

A poet draws inspiration from just about anything
And who knows what type of poem it will bring
The words that will be written may make you smile or make make you cry
They may may make you say lets start over instead of goodby

I for one never know what the next line will be
But I do know they will be words that come from me
I never want to use words someone has said before
I want to say welcome as I hold open the door

Sometimes I look into the eyes of someone I may never know
But something stirs and in my words it began,s to show
I guess it words I would say if I were at your side
Maybe its words you,ve heard before but he lied

Im smiling now as I wonder how this little poem will end
A little chuckle as I relize I didnt know how it would begin
If you know what the ending should be please feel free
Sometimes a poet needs a little push and thats whats happen to me

The Moment

but for the night
not obscured by city lights
make a wish when the moment is right
to see the stars
they shine ever so bright
there can never be another tonight
when you find them hang on tight

Baby let go, please just walk away...

Baby let go
please just walk away
you broke my heart in two
I don't want you to stay
your in every song
and in every story
you stole my heart
and all my glory
i'll keep my love to give
to that right someone
I thought you loved me
now I know I was wrong
reading your little message
on my phone once more
you'll always be here
why can't I just ignore
what exactly is it
that draws me to you
that obsessive compulsion
to have my heart torn in two
I neither know nor care
for your words no more
I don't know if they are true
and like you said before
that is something
I just can't ignore
I want to drown in the sorrow
of my own self pity
but i'm going to get my boots
and leave this city
I want to sleep tonight
through all my fears
and when I wake alone
i'll hide my tears
got to grab my dreams
and all i can take
i'll leave your picture
your smile was fake.

Temptation

Temptation surrounds me like a fuzzy warm blanket.
Temptation calls to me to come out and play.
I pull my thoughts sharply in to order~
"None of that~concentrate on the task at hand."

Temptation wheedles and teases me, tricking me with soothing thoughts.
Temptation runs through my mind, like eye-candy for grown-ups.
I pull my thought sharply in to order~
"None of that~be strong and do not give in."

Temptation delivers a happy message and makes it hard to resist.
Temptation giggles at me as I beg it not to tempt me.
I pull my thoughts sharply in to order~
"None of that~you are a grown up and beyond all of that nonsense."

Temptation wraps its arms around me and I surrender happily.

In The Canyon Of The Conquistador

There he stood under the ragged rim
Of the crumbling red stone cliffs
Hidden in the slag of the blackened
And fractured once molten volcanic rifts.

Created by upheavals in the fragile crust of this
Restless and shifting land
It was once unspoiled, unblemished
By the touch of human hand.

Murals etched on stone canvas
Stories so simply told
There a hunter and the hunted
Riding across plains of rose and gold.

But he has stood under the shadowed rim
For at least four hundred years
With a helmet on his spectre's head
In his clawed hand a rusty spear.

Forgotten by the men who left him there
Until I stumbled upon his bones
In the lonely grotto, sacred canyon
Where the Conquistador stands alone.

Hallowed eyed with a ghastly wide
And an ivory gapped toothed grin
His scream filled the air and raised my hair
With that voice of a Harlequin.

It was only chance that brought me here
To this timeless haunted place
That will be lost again to the whispering winds
That the sands of time will erase.

I spoke to that silent rack of bones
Who had searched for the fabled gold
Who stands forever Guardian
And whose story has never been told.

He came with a ship from across the sea
In service to a Spanish King
He marches with the others from the western coast
Into the deserts of early spring.

Horses carried those metal clad men
And wagons rattled and creaked
The haughty Dons and the Black robed priest
Searched a land that was empty and bleak.

They conquered the people's souls for the church
Merciless in their quest
Leaving their mark on the people and land
As they marched across the West.

But standing there under the ragged rim
Of that crumbling sandstone wall
The lonely remains of Conquistador
Shone proudly white and tall.

Still guarding the wagons, armor and store
Of the men long since dead
Who followed the trail to the far saw toothed hills
Across a dry river bed.

And into the sun for the gold cities they'd come
But for him they never returned
Yet he guarded the grotto where he'd been left behind
And the sun relentlessly burned.

But those days he'd recorded as he waited for death
In a message he left on the wall
With only the voice of the whispering wind
And the vultures that had come to call

He thought of his home
Cross the waters he'd roamed and his child he'd not ever see
And he kept his story for all those years
Until he shared it that day with me.

Yes, lost to the world for three centuries or more
I left him for others to find
The Conquistador of the Canyon of Tears
That the Spanish had left behind.

Saturday morning and you..

You were up before me and
lying on the deck
You had your coffee and book
and snuggled in your robe
I stood there and wondered
how I got so lucky
You, the spirited child of
love
You who's kisses could melt
tempered steel
You, for who's love I kneel~
