Setting the Mood

The snow falls so softly
on the branches
as if to leave a
layer of lace
on natures canvas.
The trees seem to cover themselves
with the snow gliding
down from top of
the tree to the ground
that encompasses the trunk.
The snow glistens in
the moonlight as if
to make the tree shine
with dancing colors.
The wind blows
causing music to be
played throughout
the neighborhood.
It feels like nature's
canvas is dancing
for the world.
Silhouetting the couple
to produce a romantic scene,
as if out of a romantic novel.

looking for heaven

a little piece of heaven
falls like dust
as someone else
enters your chambers
on fire my heart
burning with a searing pain
as love melts away
falling from the heavens
becomming one with the clouds
darkness falls
falling to the earth
scattered in pieces
the remains
of you love
dead to you
slowly i climb this ladder
searching for a little piece
just a little
piece of heaven

One Life, One Love

From the moment I felt you kick,
From the times you made me sick,
From the times you kept me awake,
From the time you were pulled out of me,
I hear that sweet cry, I just wanted you near.
From the moment I held you in my arms, I knew
What life and love was.
As the tears roll down my face,
I touched your little hands, I did not want to let go.
As you grow up your not a little baby anymore but a little man.
So smart, so brave, so much laughter, so much energy, so much light
You bring to us all.
You are what fills my heart with so much love and joy even when you’re bad.
So handsome and smart you are even a little sneak but that’s what little boys are.
You are my life you are my one love, you are my little boy from now till the end of time.

Dreamlife

We live with the nameless in the midst of a dream,
Perceive all around you things aren't as they seem,
We live as a spirit, we infinitely float,
We're part of a dream, of the dreamer remote.

Imagine your thoughts, the feelings you are,
Imagine your thoughts, and shine as a star,
Thoughts become things, your dreams become real,
If only you believe in all that you feel.

Imagine been happy,
Imagine been thin,
Imagine finding the love,
You know is within,
Imagine away and create what will be,
For the dreams of the nameless include you and me.

The dreams of the nameless become dreams of form,
From all of the dreams you have been born,
You live ,therefore, with the choice to be,
To be what you are, you are born to be free!

Somebody somewhere……..

She sits alone in her own little home
Waiting for the doorbell to ring
There are photos on the wall that she can recall
All the wonderful memories they do bring
There’s a teapot on the table with a cosy named mable
With a plate of homemade cookies to the side
There’s a warmth in this home and even though she’s alone
She has no reason to hide
There’s a hairy old cat that she loves to have a chat
Keeps her company through and through
But it’s the ring of the bell she knows to well
That will lift her spirits new…….

Forever in your eyes

I found you as a friend and the
beginning of us was nurtured
in your garden where we walked
hand in hand
I remember those days well and
the childlike wonder in your eyes
as you twirled a white rose in your
fingertips relishing its majic pedals
We would capture every moment
of touch and kiss and teasing
whispers in the ear
Those summer days of beachballs
and kicking up the sand gave way
to the glorious leaves of fall where
we rolled like children in all its
earthy fragrance
Through all this you showed me the
woman and the child in you, but it
wasen't til the the snows of December
when Jack Frost powered your cheeks
rosy red did you show me forever in
your eyes

To my daughter Bryn

I’ve loved you in your mother’s womb.
Now you lie in death’s tomb.
Even though you never had a first breath, your existence is forever held my heart.
You would have been my master piece to the world, an exquisite piece of art.

God denied you life.
What little memories I have will suffice.
While in your mother’s belly I’m grateful for every kick I felt.
I use to laugh at how the both of you use to eat bowls of ice before they melt.

We would have:
Dance between raindrops and hold victories against the Easter bunny in hop scotch.
Have conversations with the moon and challenge a kangaroo to a game of double Dutch.
Battle pirates on sinking ships and wait for shooting stars to make a wish.
Bottle candle flies on a midsummer’s night and go a finger race with a goldfish.

Be predator stalking its prey and sentry a trap of milk and cookies.
Fall asleep on the stake out waiting for “Santy Claus”, have him think we are rookies.
Express justification to failure “Damn that Santa, he’s so tricky!”
Form a resolution and have ambition that next year he won’t be so lucky.

Be architects at the beach, erect castles of sand.
Be masters of creating mess, paint with no brush just hands
Stage political protests till your mother give in to our demands.
Be bosses that we are, we don’t take orders we give commands.

I would have been the best father.
But god didn’t give me the chance to be the number 1 dad.
I hope you know your daddy loves and still waits for you.
I love you Bryn!

Twin Towers - A Tale of Two Rails

Underneath two of the tallest buildings in the world
We were a part of an extensive piece of rail
People coming and going – busy everyday
We were proud to be part of the world trade

It started out as a beautiful September day
The sky was blue and clear – not grey
Suddenly there was a tremendous roar
Then an explosion that shook every floor

The sound of the fire was deafening and loud
People were running down the stairs and out
Meanwhile firemen and policemen came in
Heroically risking their lives for all those within

Suddenly another roar hit the second one
Both were burning with heat hot as the sun
We saw horrible sights and will never forget
Terrorists had hijacked and hit them with 2 jets

Suddenly the Twin Towers caved in – all the floors
We were buried underneath listening in horror
Then there was a deathly quiet for a long time
Until the rescuers came searching through the grime

We were moved to an island and carefully stored
Thinking we were not a part of the towers any more
Sad and lonely we sat for 15 long years
Remembering each year the fear and crying tears

Now we are in the sunshine in this quiet peaceful place
We now sit on top of this beautiful granite base
To remind the visitors who come to never forget
The day that terrorists came and posed a threat

Others have also since loss their lives each day
To keep us safe from terrorists come what may
We are here to say – We will never forget
We were part of the Twin Towers that we represent

About this poem:
9/11/2017 Update: The Memorial is still there with nothing changed. I changed the picture because last year when I took the picture it wasn't completed yet. Now the flag is flying high and proud over the monument! It is now the 16th Anniversary. This event affected me deeply as that is when I started writing poems. I had never written poetry at all or attempted. The emotions in me were so overwhelming that it started to spill out into words as a release of the pressure.

9/11/2016: My town is in the process of erecting a monument to the Twin Towers/World Trade Center, Pentagon and the flight that went down in Pennsylvania. This year is the 15th Anniversary of the attack on 9/11/2001. Highlight of the monument is the two rails that were underneath at Ground Zero. I watched them weld them to the top of the granite stones and became very emotional thinking about what they had been through. There is more going to be done on the monument and I will change the picture when it is completed.

His FInal Hours

I'm so tired but I can't sleep
I'm so hungry but I won't eat
I wish this pain would go away
I'm so strong but I'm feeling weak
I want to say a lot but I can't speak
I wish this pain would go away
I want to be there but I'm over here
I want to cure him but I can't and it's not fair
I wish this pain would go away
I see everyone in tears and I can't help
This is the worst feeling I have ever felt
I wish this pain would go away
I love him more than words can say
Never thought it would happen this way
I wish all this pain would go away
