Saga

From time immemorial the
Human saga has raged..
There is no end to the drama
Of mind and spirit
Though we are housed in fleshly
Bodies we are beside ourselves
In an endless quest for meaning
That transends the vile flesh of
Our lower estate
We are but beasts endowed with
A magnificent idea
We turn inanimate objects and
Futile imaginings into household
Gods
That serve to titilate the bankrupt
Consciousness of a dying species
An earth on its endless track through
Space surely bereaves the hardhearted
And stiffnecked inhabitants she carries
We will have our kings, our nation, and
Our covenents
We will exact revenge on the fools who
are blind to the wisdom of our ways
We shall build a kingdom to last a thousand
Years and forgeting that the cemetary is
The eternal residence for many such kingdoms
But the fire of genius will ever push forward
The invention of man shall minipulate the
Code of knowledge til we shall at last immortalize
Ourselves
We extort the sweat of the weak to advance
Ourselves
We kill with impunity because evolution determines
The survival of the fittest
The battle of the god's shall be determined by the
Number of opposing opinions we destroy
Truth, if there be a truth is just a thorn in
Our side
Why confuse ourselves with the facts?
We'll just take our lifestyles as far as
We can take it
And if there's some sort of day of reckconing
At the end of the day well.. we'll cross that
Bridge when we get to it.

Transplanted.............

I found a flower across the way
as pretty as can be
it had flourished in it's enviroment
and blossomed naturally
i picked that flower blooming
and took it far away
set it in another land
to see if it would stay
it took a while for it to strike
for dormant did it stay
and as it suffered from within
time would have it's say
for slowly and surely
it strengthened every day
showing glimpses of it's beauty
from it's land far away
it overcame the heat `
from the torturous sun
it darkened in it's colour
from the life it had begun
it overcame the barreness
of nurturing from the past
and grew terse in it's resolve
to endure and outlast
it overcame the ignorance
of people who did not care
it's beauty and it's colour
was always there to share
although yet to bloom
it set it's roots down deep
and absorbed all that offered
for it's place it yearned to keep
it learned of the seasons
as they did arrive
it absorbed with tenacity
it's willingness to survive
for deep within it's soul
it had an unknown depth
a knowledge and understanding
from the hardships that it kept
now i look upon you
and with admiration i can say
your blooming with a beauty
with the honesty that you pray...........

silent footsteps

Just had a thought the other night
Wondering of the children's plight
Amidst the anger and the hate
What determines their actual fate
Constant exposure to what they see
And responses made to set them free
Who said that they were deployed
They never asked to be destroyed
Is loyalty their only command
Driven by an ancient hand
Guided by something they don't understand
Caged and waiting in remand
Not one for prayers but here i go
Please.... let all the children go
Allow them to be whoever they can
They are the future it's in the plan
The scars of life is their demand
Don't let them follow again and again
Silent footsteps must now be heard
Respect is the most precious word
Lets change the world and think ahead
Allow a child to be a child instead........

Rainy Day

Embedded image from another site

As rain lightly falls on the street
Strangers hurry and rise to meet
The grayness of day they greet
Cascading and sweet

On the corner is a weathered man
With frail fingers and a shaking hand
Holding out a small tin can
As part of his daily stand

Upon his furled brow are the tracks
Of long forgotten dreams
Some lived well
Others unrealized
It seems

Slightly bent
He resembles a statue
In his old rumpled overcoat
Missing buttons representing years
Worn with joys and tears

Seeking help and a small percent
Of human kindness and value
Just one coin or paper note
To keep afloat
In a world where the meek are forgotten
Sorrowfully, time and time again

In return for your compassion
He gives you a holy ration
His way of an eternal soul deposit
Fumbling aside an old family locket
As he reaches into a torn pocket
To retrieve a hand written note
On crumpled damp paper
With these words:
“Thank you for your generosity today
I cannot repay you but I have much time to pray
Let my prayers for you be my sharing
For helping me and caring”

Extending kindness to a stranger you meet
Brings unexpected blessings cascading and sweet
As the rain falls lightly on the street

Poetry Everywhere

Embedded image from another site

Can you hear the wind?
the sound of poetry
everywhere a story
your life and mine.

Basket man in parking lot
holding a sign and his story
it says of him
a story he wishes to tell.

Wind on the beach
carrying wishes and prayers
if you just stop
and listen.

All around us is poetry
a story
waiting to be told
of desires and dreams.

The smell of tulips

I am melting
In spring
In the clouds
That swirl
In the puddles
And in the sky,
In blossom of the trees
In the tulips smell
In the strangers smile
Do not look for me
I feel so good
Melting in spring

SHARING NATURE'S SIGNS.

Freeze frame the moment, love on cue
Mesmerizing spectacle, magnificent too
Staring at peaceful scene, a night sky
Velvet backdrop, stars twinkle on high

Capture the moment, trying to understand
Beauty shines brightly, down upon land
Isolated yet stirring, and so serene
Pinch yourself asking, is this a dream

Nothing detracts, simple beauty of night
Waiting the moon, as if a glowing kite
Follow shooting stars, eyes crystal clear
Hold back emotions, struggle with a tear

Moon hidden momentarily, soon glows again
Halo clad focus, misty like falling rain
Remembering night sky, unique-surreal
Insight of reality, with nature's seal

Imagine strangers watching, a night sky
Sharing the very moment, together sigh
Held in personal memory, waiting a time
Understanding, a night all shared a sign....

To remain in their thoughts, a special time
Wishing into the heavens, they could climb
The magic will never be lost, remaining true
Romantics enjoy every moment, as all lovers do

North of nowhere.........

I turn back once more
And am mesmerised by what I see
The evening hues cloaking the earth
And dressing the beautiful sea
A tinge only a tinge
Whispers on the shore
But the brilliance of snow white waves
Adds a beauty I can't ignore
I stop and rest awhile
And drink it all in
My gaze stretching for miles
It's such an intoxicating thing
The remnants of rain filled clouds
Embellish the islands north
The mystical lands beyond
And the beauty of their worth
A lone surfer eases himself
Onto his last wave
As my photographic memory
Captures all I need to save..........

Soul cripple

Embedded image from another site
What has stopped loving - not a miracle.
That became the enemy - that wildly.
I have smiled crookedly.
Soul has couldn't stop shout.

Pitchfork has pierced in heart.
I didn't give a sign,
That has on the spot killed
Cruel offense.

In me there is no harmony now.
Melancholy viscous lava.
You were my joy.
You became my poison.

I bear grieves a burden,
And inspire in me nonsense
That time treats.
Well to dream not harmfully.

Unusable time - the doctor.
Not to escape from captivity
Melancholy. Soul cripple -
I have broken through a knee.

My inner voice

.............

If you want to fly,
Then fly
Only in your dreams?
Fly in your dreams, but fly!
If you want to love,
Then love.
No one to love?
Love yourself, but love!
If you want to sing,
Then sing
Only without words?
Sing without words, but sing!
If you really want to be happy
Then be happy , just be
If you want to forget,
Then forget
Close the door behind you
And leave.
