Unicorns are they legend? or fact?

Embedded image from another site

creature of myths and legends
most deny that you ever exist
yet time after time you reappear
history the world wide names you
depicts you with spiral single horn
gleaming white starry coat
its said only in a virgin you trust
when you will lay your head
in her lap as she tames
your ferocity and wildness
only then can you be caught
yet should we capture you?
is it not best to leave you free?
some things are best left alone
never to be proved as fact
I know I believe you to be real
yet a wondrous creature living
that forever free and wild should be

The unicorn is a legendary animal from European folklore that resembles a white horse with a large, pointed, spiralling horn projecting from its forehead, and cloven hooves. First mentioned by the ancient Greeks, it became the most important imaginary animal of the Middle Ages and Renaissance when it was commonly described as an extremely wild woodland creature, a symbol of purity and grace, which could only be captured by a virgin. In the encyclopedias its horn was said to have the power to render poisoned water potable and to heal sickness.

About this poem:
North Korean Scientists Confirm That Unicorns Are Real
Archaeologists from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have discovered the lair of a unicorn ridden by the founder of the ancient Koguryo Kingdom.

Koguryo (also Goguryeo or Kokuryo) was an ancient Korean kingdom that spanned the northern and central Korean Peninsula, as well as parts of China and Russia, until its fall in 668 CE. It was founded, according to the Korean Central News Agency of DPRK, in 277 BC by King Tongmyong. And it turns out that King Tongmyong was a serious, certifiable badass - because King Tongmyong rode a unicorn.

Your poem has been published

You couldn't wait to get home
and pen those last few lines..
The deadline for the poetry
contest was just a few weeks
away and you wanted to get
every word just right
And alas! After burning the
midnight oil there it was, the
poem you thought would win
you the prize!
When all the entries were in
and the final judging was done,
weeks had passed, and you
recieved not a word..
The winning poem was published
announcing the prize and your heart
sunk..
What had gone wrong?
Could they not understand?
Was your wording not exact
enough?
Could they not see how you
struggled to raise those children
of yours?
Were they there when your lonely
heart burned hot tears on your
pillow?
Had not your words told of shadows
that frightened you in the night, and
how you longed for his comforting
hand?
But let your heart be not troubled
my love for your words have found
their way into the pages of every
compassionate heart
You are published in the soul of
of an eternal dawn-

Ramblings

Anger
Fear
Love
Doubt
Hate
Understand they all relate
Affecting choices we make
Emotions are tools used by you
Don't be fooled
Letting them rule your mind
True peace is inside
Unwind and let them flow
Once finished let them go
You are in control
Don't you know?

bowl of sorrows no more

I bathed
in the bowl of your sorrow
I swam
in the pool of your pain
I sang in the melody
of your sufferings
I danced in the world
of your complaints
I slept in the bed of
your confusion
I hoped that light will
beam in the canvas
of your dreams
and so....
I invited you to walk with me
holding my hand in yours
you accepted it with happiness
and for a while
strolled in the valley of joys
then...
the devil reappeared
who's presence
was always in your realms
darkness engulfed
and...
you are marked
and clutched
never to be free...
she....
had you dancing
forever
in her tiny, wicked little fingers.

if only I knew
I wouldn't have wasted
my time
letting you danced
with my heart
my soul and my mind..

But.. it is so over
And thank God..we are very done.
Amen.

The three legged dog

Embedded image from another site

As I was walking about
I came across
a three legged dog
he was behind a fence...

He barked as is if to say hello
that he was doing just fine
that he could do everything
a four legged dog could do
he did not view himself as handicapped...

He barked and wagged his tail
he didn't say life wasn't fair
I think he was trying to say
he's just like any other dog...

I stopped and petted his head
and began to think
this three legged dog
does better than most two legged people..

Poetry Short

Redemption
perhaps something
one must fight for
some lose
some stray
some regain it.

But sometimes
friends make mistakes
often grievous ones,

Ones that cry out
for us to stay
and prove we are true friends...

What would be your last poem?(Challenge)

You only have a day to live..
You need to summon all your
powers of being and come to
grips with the last poem you'll
ever write..
The field is wide open..
What would you express to a
world seemingly bent on self
destruction..
Or might you share something
simple and personal..
Or..something else?

Self-Portrait

Embedded image from another site

My verse reveals much about me
they are my songs
sometimes romantic
often adventurous
thoughts from an honest man
romance sometimes happens
my most noble poet friends
this I can tell-

Back in my early days
I guessed art as harmony and rhythm
off to the university I went
to become cultured and rich
but I prefer to be a poet
what then?

I have often suffered
and I have loved
a lot

perhaps enough to be forgiven....

No Surrender !

You entered my body from some evil place,
And totally invaded my earthly space,
Your name is Lymphoma and my message is clear,
You’ll never rest easy as long as you’re here,
As you crawl around my body no fear will you find,
Only total rejection from a positive mind,
You've toured the flesh inside my skin,
But I’m blessed with courage that helps me to win,
You appear to be stubborn and inclined to repeat,
But you’re wasting your time you will fall at my feet,
Even if you enter my lungs for my breath,
You still won’t defeat me not even in death,
My soul is eternal, my spirit will always flow,
Not a white flag in sight so you might as well go!

SPRING CLEANING

May 26, 2012

For days I’ve been feeling this sense of dread,
when I would open a cupboard or drawer.
I felt I could hardly breathe, so I ask:
what do I hold on to all this stuff for?

Dear self, what might psychologists say?
I sense the truth would go down a bit rough.
I can hear the words: “You’re in DENIAL!
Why do your fear you’ll never have enough?

Not enough love or material things
to pad your life, to feel safe and secure.”
This is a question that hits close to home.
Deep down inside is the answer and cure.

A cluttered life reveals a cluttered mind.
Sooner or later, the DUE POINT is reached.
The internal chaos translates, unfolds;
the thick castle walls, indeed, have been breeched.

Welcome to progress...my lucid moment;
an Epiphany, years in the making.
I look around at the state of my life,
and find myself nauseous, hands shaking.

Every cupboard and closet, mind and home,
shall be stripped and held in scrutiny's light.
This chrysalis shall yield a BUTTERFLY,
with finger painted colors, bold, sharp and bright!~
