JUST A THOUGHT

We are all transients in this great adventure we call “Life”. Both individually and collectively we have our quests, and, each their own path to follow. Follow your path with humility, let others judge your worth, as, they too will be judged. Whether you triumph or suffer a setback, remember....Today is but a tiny chapter of your own great adventure.
There is always tomorrow……..
Always!

a jem among the ruff

For the piles were
scattered all around.
Your goal was to find
the buried treasure
underneath all that
you see.
For your aim was high
at what you thought
you could find in the
midst of that.
The voices distracted
you from your goal,
but yet you plunged
onward making sure to
be polite to everyone
you came in contact with.
Watching closely to all
that lay in front of you
making sure not to miss
anything.
Finally your treasures
are in your hand your
goal has been met and
you leave smiling.
Today was a successful
day you accomplished
more then you planned for.

FEAR NOT THE DARK

We treat it like a place,
Yet, the dark is a state of consciousness,
Somewhere our demons inhabit, un-caged, for us to face,
Where, nightly, to the other side of that river we traverse,
Our fears we confront and with, converse,
To negotiate safe passage ‘til morning and light.
Fear not my beautiful one, the dark’s illusion,
For tis only part the sum, dawn’s dewy rainbow in conclusion.
Knowing both, fearing neither, negates confusion,
Brings insight to life’s chaotic mess.

Biloxi

Embedded image from another site

Come see Biloxi
where beautiful ladies
sun bathe by the sea
they look like mermaids
from a sailor's fantasy...

See the stars shine on Biloxi
city built in the sun
freight trains and tropical rain
and baseball games won
I'll tell you our history
how it all begun...

Come to the coastal city
by the lonely sea and sky
where off in the distance
boats use a star to steer them by
on windy days white clouds fly
and in the salty misty spray
floating sea gulls sing and cry...

Rebuilt By Fear

Embedded image from another site

I raise my arms up to the sun
To show my darkness I have won
No more reoccurring dreams
Of my phantoms haunting me
Your lament voices I'll no longer hear
These lies you whisper in my ear
My seeds were scattered upon fertile ground
Then like a weed you came to choke me out
But I will overcome affliction and persevere
Broken by love rebuilt by fear
No more the deflating weak one still enslaved
By the ghost inside my living grave
Although my hearts still broken every night
I see my freedom in my sight
As I lift my eyes up to the prize above
This pain inside has taught me how to love
Becoming more than what I am
With this new faith in life I say Amen

PRIVILEGE......

I know a little about privilege, having been born what you may call poor,
In a council house, with the "Tallyman" always at the door,
Ice, on the inside of the windows in the wintertime,
And for recreation, a river to swim in and a conker tree down the road to climb,
A two mile walk across the fields to school,
Avoiding the wet so it wouldn’t soak the cardboard in the sole of my shoe,
Don’t feel sorry for me! The privilege was all mine,
Two parents that would both give precious love and time,
To have met the people through my life that I have, to have seen now with age, both sides of that fence,
Past, present and, future tense,
A life that many “Rich” kids don’t get the chance to experience.

About this poem:
A Tallyman was someone that would loan people money for a high rate of interest, especially those who are less well off. Life is the journey hey!

Black Is Beautiful

Black is Courageous
Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela
struggled and won their cause
and proved it to all of us

Black is Endurance
Black marathon runners
displaying their stamina
in an outstanding performance

Black is Fast
Black sprinters racing
at speeds that still
remain unsurpassed

Black is Proud
Black Power members
raised their hands
and shouted it aloud

Black is Beautiful
Black people worldwide
dressed up in their finery
looking very colourful

Tell me about Love

The little child said “grand pa tell me about love”
The old man thought long and hard and then he said
Love is a hard task master
It demands your total commitment
But guarantees nothing in return
And yet it ask very little
But pays the greatest rewards
It’s ideals are the highest
Which while many aspire after
Few ever achieve
But those who achieve inspire others to keep trying
When it comes to love between a man and a woman
Her needs must always come before his
His children must also come second to his God and his wife
The demands of love requires him to put others before himself
To love my son is not an easy thing to do
IT requires ignoring past hurts and making yourself vulnerable
It’s rewards money cannot buy or tongue recite
Blessings abundantly being called down from on high
It is one of the few things that will last for eternity
Never forget the commandment to love God with your total being
That has a guaranteed reward
Love demand sacrificing your life for both friend and enemy
Son if you are going to love truly
First know the one who created love
The Eternal One, he is the greatest lover of all

I'm just a memory..

I'm just a
memory..
Never thought of
it that way
Just an old tin can
blowin' in the wind
Little else to
say
Mabey I'll find my
tomorrow in some
yesterdays old
news
This memory thing
might just work out
And I'll forget to
sing the blues~

Today is you..

Today I write
no poetry
Today the presence
of you is all
I need
Your smile was built
in the house
of wisdom
Your gentle touch
conceived before
the foundation of
the world
Who can tell of such
thing's?
Today this hand in
hand walk with you
is the desire of
the age's
Today I say..
is you~
