Blue Moon

Embedded image from another site

She said
the blue moon is rising
it understands
what it is like to love
to be human
and alone
uncertain
imperfect...

She knows
the sun and the moon
argues as to who
will bring me to sleep
I give into night...

I prefer
to walk
in light of day...

I will slumber
sleep under the moon
the orbiting albino
with its 1000 shafts of light
as it casts cool upon the earth...

A blue moon tonight
a crescent balloon
shaving slivers from our soul
over calm surface of the sea...

Hold my hand and touch me
while the moon
brings high tide to the shores...

It is a song of longing
from blue moon of August
full moon drum of the sea
as the stars shine like pearls...

Minute moons in the sky
dazzling images of light
they wrap the blue seaweed
sparkling, dancing, dizzy tides...

We embrace and kiss
the sea horses neigh
all the island mermaids
come out to sing...

Life is a gift........

As time ticked over another year
An my age was catching up with my fear
No expectations lay in wait
I went to work it was my date
But things happened during the day
That made me write these words i say
I bumped into a girl I'd helped once before
Showed her patience when others would ignore
And from that encounter she reminded me that day
How grateful she was and in her memory it would stay
Surprised i was but smiling inside
This lovely accolade polished my pride
So i toiled on throughout my day
Waiting for the clock to have its say
But what happened next surprised me more
I noticed an old vehicle i simply adore
And the driver had been an apprentice of mine
Who'd been working away for a long time
We chatted about the things he'd done
The work he'd achieved and the respect he had won
We shared a beer and a story or two
We reminisced of knowledge due
Understanding the friendship we once had
I cherished the meeting for I was glad
I could not have asked for a better day
When life applauds you on the words you say......

For Mary Magdalene

Embedded image from another site

In the final hours
under pale gray sky
she stands below the cross
among all those who shared her cry.

He had taken from her
demons to and fro disdain
leaving larger stones of love
turning them into jewels to ease the pain.

Now on that sacred Friday
as the sun set in the West
Her Master is now asleep
and so divinely rests.

Heart in sorrow in sighing chest
Mary Magdalene trembling so did keep
with heavy crying eyes
time slow did slumber creep.

On that third day
Her Master rose to reap
reborn as an eagle leaving the nest
the Master is no longer asleep!

Go, Mary! spread your tender voice
shout in joy love and how
He has risen we all rejoice
you a beloved disciple then and now...

I've Known The World

I’ve studied,
And done well.
I’ve invested and done well,
I’ve traveled,
And explored Manhattan,
And Kathmandu,
And the red lights of Amsterdam,
And the West End,
And Broadway.
I’ve climbed the volcanoes,
And the glaciers,
And surfed at Waikiki,
I’ve explored family life,
And the wonders of new life,
I’ve been on aircraft,
Whose engines have blown,
And faced the wild sea,
I’ve known those moments,
That only lovers can,
And I’ve stayed true.
But here I am,
Beside that lake,
Where the sedge has withered,
And no birds sing.
We can only be ourselves,
We can only explore.
It’s hard to find kindred spirits,
I know they are out there,
Amidst the phoniness,
But do they see?
The world is a strange place,
And each of us knows it differently.

Soul .....Paloma....

Gossamer thoughts unravel
Reverent understanding of you
Nacreous in your spirit
In your Ataraxia too
Cosmogyral in your pursuit
Psyturism whispers to me
Aeolian in my Reminiscence
Your destination to be free..........

HONESTY

Honesty is the best policy
That's a lesson I was taught at school
But today in a world of trickery
Is that merely advice for a fool?

One time a person's word was his bond
A handshake was used to seal a deal
Today, no oath can be relied on
For some are always trying to steal

I shall be honest in my action
For to myself I have to be true
In each and every situation
No matter what others say or do

Peace of mind is most important to me
That's why I shall always strive to be free
To act in all truth and sincerity
For honesty is the best policy

About this poem:
I tried to write this poem in the style of some poems I learned and loved as a child. I have a special fondness for balanced rhyming poems. I think they are easier for children to learn. I believe it is important for children to learn the importance of honesty and I dedicate this poem to them.

EXRED

PURE SURVIVAL

The wind it blew with spite
As the bird tried to end it's flight

The landing was against all odds
As branches were whipped and flogged

I watched as the bird was swept up high
I could hear it's pitiful cries

Nature can be cruel too, I knew
I saw his struggle but straight down he flew

Flapping his wings in a flurry
Feathers flying, he was in a hurry

Watching the winds gusts calmed
My little friend landed with no harm

Sheltering under the great oaks strength
Safe, I sighed and moved off my bench

Moon

Fly me to the moon
Even if it’s on a spoon
I want to go up there and see
The light you shine down on me
You never let me down
Every night you come around
I want to dance
just you and me
Take me to the moon
I’ll sing you a tune
All afternoon
You mesmerized me
You are my prized light
I know tomorrow you will be around
You never let me down
My shinning light
I’m gonna say good night
For tonight
My ever-loving moon.

Winter Blues

On this cloudy wet cold miserable day
Take time to see past the scene before you
And try not to feel oppressed
Become too depressed, or to wallow
Hold on with hope and faith and assurance
that brighter times are soon to follow

Be the light breaking though the darkness
Have hope, wear a smile and aim to pass it on
wrapped up with love and care to share with everyone

Walk tall, feel proud to stand out in a crowd
Dance as only you can dance, sing your own song
as silly as it may be or sound

Lookout for a beautiful rainbow
created on high for our eyes to see
Choose to spread hope peace, love and joy
For as the air that we breathe, they are gift's that are free :)
