A Poet’s Personal Prayer
I pray that all suffering comes to an end
regardless of where those in pain live,
to God in prayer my sincere words I send
to all in distress my sympathy I give.
I pray that all wrongdoers get caught
and are granted their just rewards,
in the spirit our fathers’ war was fought
for the peaceful world we move towards.
I pray that all good words are set free
from the private library in my mind,
allowing my peers a new creation to see
my elusive poem of a different kind!

I myself have a few words of wisdom to be said:
To walk an inch is sinch,
To walk a whole yard is hard,
But never give up,
Never lose faith in yourself, never,
Or you will never walk that yard.
Love your son.

About this poem:
About 9 or 10 years ago, when my son was 8 or 9, he left this hand written poem under my duvet. His mum had left a couple of years earlier and he and I were getting on with life, but it wasn't always easy.
Today is his 18th birthday. I still have his hand writtem poem kept safe and sound.
He is the best son a dad could ever have.

Days go by one at a time
I watch you grow
Yes this grandaughter of mine
Is anything but slow
A gifted child she is
She has an awesome streak
Of joy, artistic and creative
God is giving her a tweek
Of witch I could write a narative
She's getle and very curious
We talk of family and friends
To put her down would be ludicrous
Her ife is on the mend
She's a pleasure to be with
We play word games together
Her mystories are not myths
I will love her forever
I remind her that humility
Is a virtue to be nurtured
Her life has stability
Our relationship is like a jolly bowl of custard
We laugh at all sorts of things
She's a joy to have around
A voice like a bird she can sing
Once was lost but now she's found
She promised never to do drugs
That can alter her beautyful mind
She's affectionate and likes hugs
Sometimes impatien yet she's kind
Common sense is her strength
She's lovable I find
For her I will go to any length
She's a joy to have around
We have so much fun together
She wears a Spiritual crown
Unconditionally I will love her forever
She could be anthing she wants to be
She has dreams of life yet unlived
She will always be a treasure to me
Of myself to her I give
May she grow strong and true
Be of service to mankind
I will comfort her when she's blue
I will gently nudge her from behind
She never sesses to amaze me
Her little girl is wealthy
My great expectations she can see
Awesome the bond she has with me!
--grandma has loved you longer!--

Working here in my nine millionth job
I come closer to understanding it all
Walking through town today,
I see men I used to know
They belong here
I don’t
I have no mortgage, no kids
They have
Maybe I have balls, maybe I don’t
This time next year I’ll know
As Christmas approaches I say
next year’s gonna be my year
like all the others that weren’t
I leave behind the most beautiful woman I’ve ever known
With little more than survival money
and the wreck of a tragic split,
I bring regret and a kind of freedom
to new people
Domestica is a soul sucking poison
You’re cut out for it or you’re not
If you’re not, get out
Someone more suited to the job
will fill your shoes
in a heartbeat

Snowball hits the wall after flyin in curved air. Particulate snow follows it's course. Gloved three finger release in the throw, shoulder in hurt of the thrust of the throw. Ten finger pack of two hands full of snow, eyes on the target packin gloved smacks. Swoop hand in the drift in mind's target broad. Fifteen steps to the pile to get packin snow. As you sat in the chair whats to do tonight! Drag a bus a car an skid the heels on corners tight!

A story once told a road of gold
did wind through mountains white
past rivers keen till sign is see
that ends its heralded flight.
Words unfurl in lavender and pearl
to adorn this fateful shrine
They read, "Steer forth towards the north
in a raft on the bay of wine".
The ship is light and moon shines bright
as currents make swift the way.
Your journey is far by the evening star
to the coming break of day.
The sun rises high in an azure sky
when you reach a fostered shore
and are greeted with cheers, hugs, and tears
from teddy bears galore.
They've gathered in herds of pink oxfords
to collect the stranded shells
to place in blocks as forget-me-nots
to the things they love so well.
They've names like Mandy, Toby, Andy,
Jenny and Danielle
Their nicknames and middle names
to each in secret tell.
Upon their crown the little bears gown
a splendid butterfly
its beauty appears between tufted ears
as missly placed bowties.
They spend the day in watery play
or camped by firesides.
Tumbling October leaves
or playing on giant slides.
On swing sets during sunsets,
on walks or holding hands.
In ferris whells above grassy fields
in Autmn colors grand.
When Spring's the day oboes they play;
in Summer picnic all.
On silver skates bless Winter lakes,
and kites loft in the Fall.
When twilights swirl be stills this world
of donughts, mints, and sun
where apple trees wave cinnamon leaves
and rocking horses run-
they sleep the night by candle light
caressed by soft moonbeams
as weariness pries at shoebutton eyes
and music weaves sweet their dreams.
Sincere and true I speak to you
of beauty ro revere.
Special and new though seen by few
I have visited here.
Perhaps one day I'll find my way
back to this dreamy cove
where joy and laughter are ever after
and tebby bears rule with love ... always.

About this poem:
This is a deeply personal piece. It is whimsical, and at times silly in it's words, but purposeful. Hidden within its words are moments, places, and dreams once shared with someone special. Even the dedication has a special code. If the person for whom it was written should find it here she would surely recognize it. I have often thought of producing a line of teddy bears based upon the poem and including a bound copy with each bear.

GRANDDAUGHTER
As my eyes gaze upon you granddaughter
I see the radiance beauty with in your smile
You are like a delicate rose bud
Just waiting for the moment for the petals to open
You are like a beautiful butterfly fluttering your wings
You are like a young sparrow ready to fly
The mother keeps you with in the nest
Because the mother sparrow always knows best
Do not be in a hurry as most young people are
Follow your dreams reach for the stars
Travel the world near and far
God gave you talent don’t waste this gift
Let the world see the beauty
With the stroke of your brush
You will Adventure out when the time is right
Than you can spread your wings
My granddaughter and the world will see
The rose bud as it opens its delicate petals
As you become the beautiful rose
I knew that you would be
For ever and always loved

My mum had passed away
but in my heart she will stay
when I am sad I think of mum
when I fall i think of mum
when I laugh I think of mum
when I am asleep I dream of mum
so you see I never lost my mum
and this is what I hear mum say
you may not see me, but you can feel me
when you are sad I touch your heart
and make you smile
when you fall I pick you up
when you are asleep I watch over you
when you laugh I stand back and smile
so you see my mum has not gone
mum is with me forever in my heart

WHEN I HEAR HIS JOKES,HE REMINDS ME OF ME.
ALREADY KNOWING THE PUNCH LINE BEFORE HE'S THREW,
HE MAKES ME LAUGH, AND SOMETIMES EVEN PEE,
WITHOUT MY SON WHAT WOULD I DO?
A MIND SO DIFFERENT, SO CUNNING IS HE,
THINKS OUT OF THE BOX INDEED
HIS LIFE WAS TOUGH BUT HE'S STRONG YOU SEE,
WITHOUT MY SON, WHERE WOULD I BE?
HE'S YOUNG, AND LOVING, AND HUGS ME ALL DAY
I GET ANGRY CAUSE HIS ROOM IS A MESS.
WANTS TO MAKE STRANGE CREATIONS, HE THINKS THAT WAY,
WITHOUT HIM FOR MY LIFE I'DE CARE LESS.
HE'S ANNOYING AT TIMES, BUT HIS SMILE MAKES ME FORGET,
AND HE THINKS AT EIGHTEEN HE'S SO WISE
WHEN HE MAKES UP HIS MIND , HE IS CONSTANT AND SET
AND HE KEEPS ME IN CHECK, I CAN'T LIE.
MY BOY IS MY REASON FOR BREATHING TODAY
HE'S SAVED ME FROM DAMAGE I'VE DONE,
I CAN'T SAY IT CLEARER OR IN ANY OTHER WAY
I THANK GOD FOR MY STRONG LOVING SON.

A song to someone very special.
25/05/2002
Till the end of time…
The thought of you makes me smile,
Till the end of time…
The love of you fills me with warmth,
Till the end of time…
The touch of you makes my world complete,
Till the end of time…
The sound of your voice fills the void in my universe,
Till the end of time…
Your happiness is my delight,
Till the end of time…
Your sadness is my melancholy,
Till the end of time…
Your health is my vigour,
Till the end of time…
Your laughter is my mirth,
Till the end of time…
Your success is my pride,
Till the end of time…
Time may end one day, but my love for you will not,
Till the end of time…
But, most importantly,
Whatever you are, whoever you may become,
I will always love you,
Till the end of time…
Who are you?
You’re my daughter, all six of you!
