A Poet's Soul

I fear if I run out of ink
my thoughts will cease to flow,
No longer free to roam around
where they desire to go.

Caught up in a stasis as my
mind begins to congeal,
Severed from my senses I find
I can no longer feel.

The proof of my existence is
my words upon the page,
Without this free expression I
feel my world is a cage.

How could I ever tell you what
my writing means to me,
Dear children born within my mind
and then I set them free.

I love my thought's many offspring
they're so dear to my heart,
I give them freedom to grow and
with my blessing depart.

I let them go to make their own
way in the world so wide,
My heart nearly bursts they are the
source of my greatest pride.

ON THE TELEPHONE WITH YOU

Don’t wana disconnect,
Never end this call.
You dialled up my heart’s number,
Made it beat like a dance hall,
I try to play it oh so cool
but I’m your devoted-fool
Emotions high
I just fly
everytime I’m talkin’
on the telephone with you.

In so very little time,
I’m surprised to find
You’re the first and last thing
on my mind
Wonderin’ if what you see in me,
is the same I see in you.
I can’t believe its happening
Is it really true?

Don’t wana disconnect,
Please dont end the call.
You dialled up my heart’s number,
Hit it like a cannon-ball,
I try to play it oh so cool
but I’m your devoted-fool
Emotions high
I just fly
everytime I’m talkin’
on the telephone with you.

Love from within the heart

Your eyes know that I have waited so long, as I have waited for summer for a bird, and slept like the sleep of a migrant.

lost

_In my room looking at the ceiling...
_No willing to be cured. such a bad feeling...
_And the dreams in the tears are sailing...
_I miss something may complete my life's meaning...
_The sadness fill my heart completely...
_Maybe i'm not sad. Maybe i'm the sadness personally...
_What's wrong with me. I was wandring there happy like a bee...
_unfortunately, no body could listen or see...
_So, i write, and those words are the bandage...
_Of my heart when it was damaged...
_In that life i'm a tourist. They are my baggage...
_My source of hope and courage...

Poet to Poet- Journal Entry 7-24-23

"The beginning of a novel is a time of
awful when you're dealing with a lot
of dead pieces and you have to wait and wait for
some sort of animation" ~Iris Murdoch

Poet,
The blank page
is terror.
The blank
screen is too.
How do I dare
to impose
my prejudices upon it?
~
How do I dare
to assume that
what I have to say matters to anyone--even me?
~

It's that mysterious
leap that distinguishes
the dreamer from the doer.
I myself always trick myself into starting.
"No one will ever read this," I say.
"Moreover, no one will understand it."
Sometimes I make as many
as a dozen starts.
Later I realize they
were all different ways of
sneaking up on the same material.

~

I was stalking my poem
from many different angles
--but I don't see that until
I am well and truly launched.

"The last thing we decide
about a poem is what to put first"
This has always been my experience.
If only I could relax and remember
that this game of hide
and seek with my poem
is the only way I know of refinding
the playfulness that making up requires.

(pause)

Candlelight
flickering
beautifully
this morning, dancing
on the walls
like thoughts
dancing
beautifully
inside
a poet's mind.

Yes, sweet poet, we must
let go. We must
take leave, pass on.

Words
are our way
of polishing
the rough stone surface
of existence.

Words
are our way
of pounding nails
into walls,
and mounting
our pictures
in the hallways.

~

Regardless
of our efforts regardless
of our thoughts, and our prayers, and our ideas existence
does
exactly
as it pleases.

and we are here
to please it.

Act only in ways
that will please existence.

Act only
in ways
that will move existence forward.

like tumblers
falls
behind the wall
of a safe,
our words
turn
the keys
to the puzzle the keys
that swing open
the doors the keys
that will keep
the image
safe,
and release it, too, into the winds of eternity where it belongs /
where we
eventually
will travel.

~

We
are the ones
who weren't intended
to be here

We
are the ones
who were intended
to be gone

We
are the ones
you see starving
at dawn.

We
are the ones
who are lonely, and alone.

We
are the ones
who drink coffee
at coffee shops
at the edge of the universe
while peering
at the abyss

Dance
with us
only
if you dare.

Close
your eyes
and help us seduce
the night

We are safe
in the city

We are safe
in ourselves

We are safe
in the workshop
of our talent

~

Aspire
to greatness
by doing
what must
be done
and leaving the rest
for the universe
to take care of.

~

I better close.

I will write again soon.

Untitled

From beyond the vail of my broken heart,
Comes a new beginning of what is true.
From the oars of a boat lost at sea,
Coming to shore to start something new.

Up In the sands of this golden shore,
Lucid dreams of you come soring in.
Just like the coming of the high tide,
This love for you, my dear, will begin.

Full moon over Opotiki

And crabs
out on the flats
gazing, dipping, flittering under the gathering stars
water coils
laughter from the shore

Space and Grace

Don’t complain to me about life
If things were always that easy
Everything would be great

The sun and moon still rise
To a place where they feel safe
Can we all agree about that

The water is too hot or too cold
Whenever I need go for a swim
So I must somehow just adapt

Nothing else comes that close
To the warmth of your embrace
Freedom only love were the case

I am so sick of this life’s stress
Where I can sadly find no rest
Do I really know what’s best

Peace and tranquility do exist
If we slow down our hectic pace
And find some space and grace

Make Me Burn

Don't want just for now,
I 'm looking for forever.
I wanna burn Lady burn,
in the way you make me shiver.
Just being held in your arms,
Is where I wanna be.
make me burn Lady, burn.
Dont ever set me free.

I don't just want your body,
I wanna have it all.
I wanna burn Lady, burn,
I know you wont let me fall.
Im your's and you are mine,
is what my future wants to be.
Make me burn Lady burn.
dont ever set me free.

I want to find it's true this time,
Oh Lady,
and it always will be
Wake up and say, hello each day,
Oh Lady,
with you lying next to me.
You make me burn Lady, burn Lady,
with an inner fire.
You make me burn Lady, burn,
you are my heart's desire.
Just being held in your arms,
Is where I wanna be.
Make me burn Lady, burn,
don't ever set me free.

Daydreams

Jumping, jumping ,over the style
Wasting time just for a while
Dark clouds forming filled with rain
Will my rainbow return again
I miss those days of childhood charms
Held by my parents in loving arms
My adult days approach too fast
As plaits and uniforms, I cast.
Into this world of wonderment
I step with awe and calm content
Will I survive and make my mark
Is life just a stroll in the park
I'll do my best through thick and thin
To reach the goalpost that say's win.
