Hello Harbal I live by myself, in a rather quiet neighborhood (too quiet at times), and wouldn t have it any other way. When I go out shopping, or what ever, with its hustle, and bustle of a fast paced world, I can t wait to return to that quiet neighborhood. It took a while, but once I got to know afew of the neighbors, we now have a group that checks on each other ,to see if things are okay. Every so often, I ll cut one of the elderly neighbors lawns, and every so often, someone will be walking in the door with fresh baking. A person has to remember to have good neighbors, you have to be a good neighbor..
Hello Harbal When I m 64, good blog Well I m 60, and with some health issues , I at times, most times feel like I m 90, I find myself trying to hold onto my youthful side but it , at times its is becoming out of reach, As for driving, I ve found myself more concerned about other peoples driving habits than my own, And one thing I ve noticed is ,Once I start doing nothing, I don t know when to stop, Lately when I goof up, I m very good at blaming it on old age, , you d be surprized at what you can get away with. I do have my good days , bad days, and lately theres more bad days than good days, but I have learnt ,to appreciate the good things I ve got going for me, because I realize things could be so much worse. Dwelling upon bad news, and other people problems is going to make me a miserable old man, But keeping a sense of humor, might put you someplace between going crazy, and being considered stupid, but it will help you greet each day with a smile on your face. You have a Good one,
I put down my pooch a year or so ago, miss him dearly. The one thing I know for sure is words can t describe the loyalty ,dedication, and love he had shown towards me, right up until his final days. I was the fortunate one to have had him in my life.
What happened with the teacher slapping the student was wrong, and then again, in my eyes that wasn t a student. A student is there to learn, not to be disruptive towards the teacher, and class. That so called student should have been kicked out of school, with no grades, education.... let her have that accompany her into life. These days ,don t parents teach their kids how important education is, Phones in schools, work places, .... and oh yes behind the wheel of vehicles is a big problem these days, As for disruptive kids in school, (phones, behavior ....) I d just fail them, and send them home, maybe then the parents could do a better job disciplining them. Then the students who are there to learn won t be distracted. As you can tell, I get wound up when it comes to the topic of cell phones, , two yrs ago I had two accidents with my car because of texting drivers.
Hello LadyImp Sounds like you re keeping busy. Isn t this polar vortex something else. We ve just had severe cold warnings, winter storm warnings, and wind warnings, Where s spring , As for retirement, with the polar vortex, I ve been getting good at holding down the couch, , it isn t going nowhere, You have a Good one,
Hello Wen I have my own thoughts on respect, I don t believe it should be earned, I believe it should be given away, to everyone, and any one, And if it isn t returned the giving stops. And think of it, isn t it easier to be polite, and respectful towards others than not to be.
Good Morning Unfayzed, Don t feel alone about waiting for daylight, you re not alone. I m 60, and know a lot of people in that age group, and older that feel the same way. The roads, the weather don t scare me , other drivers, the younger crowd does, I have excellent eyesight, good driver, and yet the attitude , and driving habits of a lot of the other drivers on the road scares me, I ve had 2 accidents in the last 2 yrs, and have had plenty of close calls, because of people texting while driving Hope I don t sound like I m turning into a Miserable old man, For me, my solution is I head out early to do my shopping, sit and have a coffee, just before the stores open, and miss the early morning rush. I avoid the texting drivers, the speed demons, the tailgaters.... And when I do my early morning shopping, it has some perks, easy parking, shopping, ….. and other shoppers , and store staff are always in good moods.
Hello, Hello, You mentioned Good weather, I d be happy if we d have normal winter weather. In the past few weeks, we ve had wind warnings, , severe cold warnings, and at present we re under a Winter Storm watch And if a warmer day sneaked in there, it came with freezing rain, No one is talking about Global Warming,
Back again, A few days ago , we had a warmer day along with that came freezing rain , then back into the deep freeze with wind warnings and drifting snow. Rather icy conditions (scary) Made it bad for walking and driving. Its been a different winter
Hello kpthatsme from Saskatchewan, We had a severe cold warning today in our province As for Snow or cold, I prefer the cold, the snow fall is usually rare at cold temps, no snow to shovel, I don t care for the wind, it brings cold temps (windchill) and drifting snow with it. (can t win for loosing )
Hello Harbal Interesting blog. I consider myself an under Achiever. Due too some health issues, I ve toned down my hopes and aspirations, and am glad . I ve learnt to appreciate so many of the little things in life I was too too busy to take time an notice. I might have given up a lot, but have gained so much more. And the main thing is I know I m a lot happier doing it,
Back again, Lately I ve been realizing how lucky I ve got it. Health issues in a relationship, friendship can be trying, but in our case they seem to be bringing us closer. We ve both had some problems in past relationships and seem to have learnt from them, and can sit and discuss them. I ve always maintained the most important part of a friendship is communication. It took awhile but we ve seem to have learnt from our mistakes.
Hello Harbal Interesting blog. I m currently in a close friendship with a longtime friend, who like myself am tired of the single life. We chat a lot, go out for meals outings... and thru thick and thin we find ourselves being there for each other. We both have some health issues, and the level of care, and concern for each other is unreal We live close by each other, and like it that way, because we don t want to jeopardize a friendship that's turning into something special. Maybe we re realizing how good we got it, I do believe in if its not broken, don t fix it.
Hello Unfayzed Taking care of elderly can be a trying experience, and when it comes to taking care of elderly parents, it is so much more trying. My mother died of cancer 5 yrs ago , and I was the main caregiver for the last two yrs. It wasn t till after Moms passing , did I realize what it took on my health. Besides being physically demanding, it drains a person mentally. To this day I can t believe what I put myself thru . Molly s advice from earlier is something I should of done All I can say is remember, You can t be strong for others, if you re not strong for yourself.
Hello Biff, Speaking of different wave lengths , recent a young fellow I know showed a side of himself I wasn t aware of. He took pride in degrading women, all women and loved to argue about it, . This came out of the blue, and that attitude shocked me, He thought his rude ,disrespectful attitude was funny. I politely asked him, do you ever wonder why you can t find yourself a girlfriend, It was a side of someone I never thought existed, quite a shocker. Defintely a Different wave length.
Hello Molly Interesting blog, I think after the festive season, and with resolutions and all that, single people, tired of being alone, are making an effort to change their situation. (just my opinion) As for me, at present, I m caught somewhere between a close friendship, and a serious relationship and me and my lady friend are too hesitant to realize it, We re both 60 yrs of age, think we d know better by now Don t know where its going to go, but in the mean time ,its fun to be behaving like a pair of kids again,
Hello Biff As for banks, I pay most of my bills over the phone, which is nice and convienient, but it seems every time I blink there s a new fee, or charge so when I m in the bank, I question the new fees, and charges, and as I m doing it I m looking at the bank across the street from my bank. I then ask if the bank across the street has these new charges, I usually get told you re a long time customer here, we ll wave those new fees.
Back again, You pretty much called it. Two days ago we were under a severe cold warning, , yesterday was minus 2 celceus, with lite snow , turning into freezing rain, ( sure made for some scary driving conditions)
Hello Track I was noticing 0n the National weather service your region is sure getting walloped with bad weather The bad weather sure does make it scary for walking and driving We get some COLD , Wild weather out here, but nothing compared to what you re getting. You take care there Bud
