Ideal Man, Ideal Woman…or Settle for 2nd Best

When I was younger, my Ideal Man was tall, dark ( Tan or Brown skinned) nice body and handsome. He has to be not more than 3 years older, clever, have a good job and financially very stable, the faithful type - someone who can be trusted and love me with all his heart.smitten There was no way I would settle for less than that “perfect” man.professor doh

Well, I did get my “ Ideal” man… it lasted for 10 years and I have no regretssigh

Now that I’m matured and older, lived life…"been there done that" phase , my ideal man is someone very matured, thoughtful, understanding and one who will be there for me for the rest of my life. How he looks and body shape still matter but not that muchwink . I’m a shorty but I do like tall men, at least 5’10”. I still like tan or brown- skinned men, hairy chest but not the mustache.professorSomeone who looks good in any type of clothing and comfortable enough wearing an old T-shirt and tight boxer underpants. love Men who always wear ties and Tuxedo rarely appeals to me. scold Someone who has a regular job or any decent source of income, no debts and not running from authorities, living a simple and healthy life will be perfect for me.smitten . I don’t like rich men nor those who are overly successful and making a lot of money – like those who are making at $ 150,000 +++/yearly…hmmm typing … they never impressed me, they tend to be controlling, high handed and they’re usually the decision-maker, makes me feel they own me and I have no say in anythingsigh Am I asking for too much? confused sigh

In order to find our ideal man, we have to be that ideal woman first. We don’t always get what we want, sometimes we have to settle for second best. When it comes to partners, boyfriends or girlfriends…would you settle for second best ? Will you keep on looking for your ideal man/woman and take the risk that you could end up alone, lonely bitter old man/woman one day ?jaw drop

Would you?

Would you tell a woman that you know has a boyfriend and you have heard her complain about him in the past..."If you are ever looking for a new man, I think you are a nice, responsible, pretty woman, and I am single."

The old me would never want to interfere in anyone's relationship in any way. However, the way things are going in this world, I am starting to think that might be the only way of beginning a relationship.

dunno

Most of the single women I know, are single for a reason....and I don't want anything to do with that.

It is something else, I have not drank to get drunk for nearly a year now. But, I do still hang out at bars. It is beautiful living life sober. A lot of the people I know who use drugs and drink frequently are just bombarded with issues in their lives. legal...financial...relationships...personal....physical.....you name it, it is there.

Anyway, just a little side note there.

Of course, if I don't want to meet a lady who drinks or is on drugs, don't hang out at a bar. Well, I am perhaps stuck trying to pick up ladies who are in relationships otherwise...it would seem.

A friend of mine recently told me....you need to make yourself vulnerable to women. He said that, us men see it as being vulnerable, where women see it as having emotions. I wonder if he didn't read Daniel's blog?

Basic Human Needs

If a woman is married to an uncommunicative man, she has the choice of talking to herself, not very satisfactory, or else sharing with friends, or even strangers. That is considered acceptable to all. Right?

When a man is married to a nonsexual wife, he has the choice of doing it with himself, not very satisfactory, or else doing it with friends, or even strangers. That is considered acceptable to all. Right?

Wrong.
It's not acceptable to all, very few indeed.

The woman may not want to leave her marriage because she doesn't want to break up the family, especially if the kids are small, but at least she has an outlet for her frustrations.

The man may not leave his marriage because he doesn't want to break up the family, especially if the kids are small, but he is left with no outlet for his frustrations.

Sex is a form of communication, a basic human need, especially to men. Just as sharing a conversation is to women.

Does society place unfair restrictions on one human need over another?

Just being curious here

Yes I know this is a bit of a piggyback post because OldBlue is asking something similar - but not exactly the same.

Why would someone want you, what do YOU bring to the table? Your looks? Your brain? Your interests and hobbies?

Perfect world, use this blog as a shop window and advertise yourself. And - let's not be mean, pointing and laughing at someone else's answer. Or even be sycophantic and agree with someone else? I won't comment (I know, it will very nearly kill me)

The difficulty with finding someone online

Is it really that difficult? How many long-term relationships have formed due to this site? I have been here a few years now and I know of maybe 2 relationships that have formed. My friend who introduced me to this site found his wife on this site. And, Daniel. I didn't know him, he was sorta of leaving as I was getting on. But, I remember him posting a blog about becoming involved in a relationship. How many other do you know of?

How can one improve their chances?

My number one and two improvements seem to be a better profile and pictures of just me...and no females.

Maybe I should write a profile with a bunch of demands? For example, don't tell me I need a different profile. Or, shut your face about my pictures. rolling on the floor laughing tongue Okay, a little dramatic here at the end.

Just a little bored here tonight....isn't that something, as soon as I get done working for like 12 hours...the moment after I eat, I am bored. Sounds like I need a woman. :)

Odd couple

I met these people, and for all I know they met on CS although that would be a fantastic coincidence and, if they read this blog, a little embarrassing. So I shall say nice things. They ARE nice.

He is, I don't know, middle-aged, very fit and bronzed, good-looking, with a drop-dead-gorgeous French accent for the perhaps 2 dozen English words he knows. Which is about as many French words as I know. He does also speak a little Spanish. About as much as I do. That's really not a lot of Spanish.

She is a little younger, mid to late forties? extremely attractive, Spanish, lives a few hours up the coast from here. She speaks no French and no English.

They are staying a week. Would you go away on holiday with someone you basically couldn't understand or speak to except in the most general of terms? For a week?

Our experience(s) in dating here at CS or anywhere

Maybe some of us on here have anything to share about our journey in finding the "one".

Considering all the fake profiles, scammers they are called, what truly is our chances of finding him/her on this site? Or anywhere for that matter.

I have met and found whom I thought was the one 9 years ago here. Although our distance was more than 7,000 miles apart we didn't get discouraged because what we felt from the first skype was so strong and wonderful that we didn't think of any hurdles we had to face.
Anyways I went to his place about three times and he came to my place about two times. To cut the story short, for me, it was the most interesting, adventurous and wonderful part of my life.

I read somewhere that the difficulty of meeting a real partner here isn't as easy as meeting them in family gatherings, church or the conventional and normal introduction before the web. What's with all of those mentally crazy, drug addicts, or simply players that are not who they claim they are. Married pretending to be single, and more discouraging characters which by the time you find out, has already caused you a lot of emotional roller coaster.

Well for me, I am no longer looking. I'm way past that. But meeting good friends both male or female, to me is a plus.

What about you? Please feel free to share your stories if you want. Maybe we can all learn from it.

Note: I know about six couples who have met here, still married and happy. A couple from NZ and India, From Northern Thailand and England (my best friends, he passed away , blessed his soul). From Philippines and NZ, From NY and England, From France and CH, and also our very own Mimi from Malaysia now happily living in Nebraska. The first three couples I met them 8 years ago still very happily married.
