Freshness In The Air

The breeze blows the
smell of flowers
permeates the air.
You can smell it
from the garden
that is way down
the street there.
The air smells like a
clean load of laundry.
It makes your nose
perk up in wonder
as to what different
flowers were giving
the air it's
F R A G R A N C E.
The bouquet is a
bigger one than
anyone has ever seen.
The smell comes up to
your nose as if to say
hello how are you doing?
Do you want to come
out with me and play

soothing stars by night.

Igneous

Opportunity surpassed Spirit
in what Sojourner began
the meeting of the minds
science and technology bound
traversed terrain aqua pools to find

Molten lava steamy hot
simmers, cools to crystalline
then you rove into view
stealthily melt magma
igniting heart of mine

Curiosity explores our
Mars-to-Venus meeting
as your arm reaches out
and touches form lacking
both iron and magnesium

Weakness wrought
from impure iron’s lack
magnesium solubility all but
disappeared from view, as
we endeavor to ascend

love sent heaven-bound
with touch conveyed
to me from you restoring
essentials to our trust
barriers broken down

so whether in Hawaiian
oceanic island depths
or continental rift zone
of Southwest’s Rio Grande
Venus and Mars find home.

My Vision (smmerwind's challenge)

My Vision

A world full of beauty
where sparkling streams
flow into crystal clear waters

the air so clear
you can see for miles
bright blue its hue

radiant flowers everywhere
sweet, sweet scent
flowing in the breeze

birds singing in delight
deer frolic in verdant valleys
everything so full of life

at last we have learnt
cleaned up our act
brought love and peace

to our beautiful world
now it shimmers and gleams
full of vibrant light

Between The Lines

For in the distance i see the
sun rising up between the trees
just anxious to say hello.
Just waiting for you to wish
the world a good morning.
Do you not have a kind word
to banter back at the sun.
Is this not a beautiful site
in front of you.
Just look and you see the sun
it is beautiful to me.
Bringing forth another gorgeous
day one after another.
Thank you Lord for giving me
another day here on your planet.
I appreciate all that you do
and have done for me.
May your will be done today
and always amen.

Seasons

each time a new season arrives
I see again with eyes afresh
which one do I love best?
spring? summer? autumn? winter?

there's only one answer
I love them all anew
so fresh is each at start
then slowly they fade away

the wonders of spring
the promise of new life
each time my heart gladdens
opens wide to embrace

but then summer follows
such beauty everywhere
masses of colourful flowers
matched by beauteous butterflies

fast on heels comes autumn
the Reds, Browns and Golds
harvests of all good things
the beauty of the bare trees

last but not least
winter's icy fingers
hoar frost's on the trees
pure unblemished snow

How can one choose
so lets toast each one
for the beauty they bring
no contest no choice to make

Let the Planet Fly

Stand up with your eyes wide
reach out, out, feel the sky
together
we will hold it all together
we will make this planet fly

when the buildings crumble
when the footsteps sink too low
when the sun is burning everything
is the time for us to grow

turn the twisting winds around
to blow once more into the cold
weave the leaves of all the trees
so all is one inside this fold
the dark moon holds the image
the glaring sun is never tame
dance we will, the futures tune
nothing shall remain the same

let the burning heart explode
show it how to fall and flame
dance we will, the futures tune
nothing shall remain the same

where’s the need to lie and cheat
where’s the need to have it done
where’s the need to be the carpet
for the so called 'better one'
where’s the need to make excuses
where’s the need to finalise
where’s the need to be the same
we will not be analysed

Stand up with your eyes wide
reach out, out, feel the sky
together
we will hold it all together
we will make this planet fly

About this poem:
My hope for the future, that when we reach the crunch point, we as humanity will make the choice to grow in soul and wisdom, instead of mind and comfort. A hope that we will learn to grow with the planet, be one with life, rather then try to fit shifting insubstantial social status's.

kicking back

Sitting on my porch having a beer
In the distance the waves I hear
This spot I have found
Is rare and I have been around

Ive travelled afar but nothing compares at hand
To the peace and beauty Ive found the good land
Its a magical place
This is truley a soulful space

Im a very fortunate man
To live so close to the sea and sand
The sound of the waves on a still night
fills me full of sheer delight

I sit back with my fire
Look up and see as many stars as you could desire
My surf board leans upon the wall
In the surf today I had a ball

I paddled amongst the dolphins
Made me smile so much i had four chins
Dolphins are magical beings
I never get sick of again seeing
them catch a wave along my side
and together sharing that special ride

I slap my hand upon the waters crystal surface
The dolphin slaps his tail replies on purpose
hes saying hey that was such fun
Lets catch another one

I finish and make my way in all wet
and stand and watch the beautiful sunset
Walk on home and sit on my porch content
watching my fire and feeling spent
I feel its nothing that i lack
when im sitting here and kicking back

Winter Treasures

Winter Treasures

In winter when the trees are sound asleep
And the skies are queenly blue and clear
I walk, not minding where I tread
To lose myself in nature’s treasury.

I wade through soft beds of lustrous snow
And watch the twinkling ice and frosty gold,
Crystal flakes and fluffy crests in white
Charm my eyes and wake my soul’s delight.

A milllion, million gleaming rainbow stars
Seem blinking on the snowy ground
A million, million glorious pearls and gems
Are squeking under my light step.

There is a magic spell in a chilly day like this
The wind’s breath froze to death in pure bliss
And from the gilded, dazzling plain around
Comes no movement and no sound.

I’m far away from home now, must return
Before the Sun ends his majestic sojourn
I made friends with the trees and the frozen lake
Yet, so far from mankind
a frosty pang of loneliness I felt.
