monkey dreams

there's a monkey on my bed
jumping from corner to corner
squirreling away all my dreams
some unpassported foreigner

this prehensile tale could
wait until the daylight
instead, I light the lamp
and scratch the pad tonight

fumbling glasses, searching pen
trying to convey mindful bits
caught in presleep's branches
before monkey flits and I forget

it always seems to be like this
eyes closed, trying not to think
primed primate moves my mind
incessantly adding a missing link

well aware from past experience
of what the monkey will take away
and hide among lush floral jungle
I write quickly what I hope to say

tomorrow, or soon, though maybe never
I'll pick up this scrape of note
to decipher what I meant last night
and continue what the monkey wrote

sciss or

being the cut-up i was
back when i lost my nut
and she bolted away
i found myself
half of scissors say
singular scissor
not much more than
an ice pick is,
more to the point

yet what can be done
when two useful parts
fall apart, depart
to become as it were
(is?) ...a sciss

chipping away at the
cold icy truth
that one must use
to survive
snowing the rest
around as i dig
into another bit
of frozen flow

to tool or not...
whether it's designed
to be of use to other
even others, or just
turn the puzzle,
hardware in hand

discerning or
dis-earning
casting aside snippets
confettied triangles
some papered cuts
life's try angles

Perfect Ending

A beautiful summer evening
A watercolor sky
Painted in pinks, purples, and blues
Brings a tear to my eye

Birds sing sweetly
Their songs before sleep
Singing a lullaby
In the woods dark and deep

A doe steps cautiously into the yard
followed by two spotted fawns
Who frolic and play and jump side to side
With lots of energy to expend before dawn

I quietly slip back to the house
Not wanting to frighten anything away
Beauty of nature surrounds us all
A perfect ending to a perfect day

This Night

This night the wind blows, and it is strange.
I feel it in the air,
It's around me everywhere,
It whispers and speaks of choice,
a silent, yet crystal clear, voice.
It is an old thing, this Wind of Change.

And there are, before you, two paths.
Consider yourself; Do the math.
One is to the left, and one to the right.
Which path will you walk tonight?

In one direction lies pain and sorrow,
While the other offers hope in tomorrow.
Will you choose a path? Will you make that choice?
Listen to the council of your inner voice.
As you consider the paths, the Wind of Change it blows,
Saying it is time, even time to go.

The path must be chosen in your own mind.
Will you wait? Or is it time?
To the left? To the right?
Can you feel the wind blowing this night?

Spring

When grey clouds take flight
Chased off by azure sky;
And rigid earth gives way
To desert life anew....

When cactus blossom hues
Adorn the desert sand;
When the wild grasses turn to green
Across a barren land.

When heifers begin a'bawlin low
Announcing a new life at dawn;
When the crusted ice and snow
Shine bright and then are gone.

When mares with their early foals
Stand guard against the wind;
And show their growing ire
Heads high with ears laid pinned...

When the hawks and eagles fly
Then hover overhead;
And guard their feathered nests
In cliffs of desert red.

The howling chants of pups arise
From wolf ones in the night;
When the antelope downwind
Are spooked and bolt in flight.

Warmth makes her way to prairie
When sun rays stretch their arms;
Magic fills the senses
When Springtime shares her charms!

egocentric dreams

when I grow up I wanna ...
mastermind criminals capers
sell worthless junk papers
and take the elderlies money

when I grow up I wanna ...
tell everyone I meet lies
swampland is a sound buy
there's money in the muddy

when I grow up I wanna ...
trade golden rule for gold
make others do what I've told
sweet-talk with tongue of honey

when I grow up I wanna ...
rule all with tightened hand
my very own kingdom to expand
all for me to the last penny

when I grow up I wanna ...
take 'n keep all the happiness
even everyone's soul to possess
never enough to be too many

when I grow past I wanna ...
if I ever am able to awaken
to realize my dreams are forsaken
and compassion is life's journey

when I grow to approach nirvana
then mantra I'll tone at last
overcome my selfish impasse
life's about more than just money

Lobo's love

The wild wolf ranged the Currumpaw valley
with Blanca his love, his mate, and ally
living life wild as distant time has known
encroaching civilization would not condone

man's only idea was to kill all the wild
and mold country to be tame and be mild
there should be no place that man cannot be
where only the animals run wild and free

the pair and their wary familial pack
lived freely and outwitted man's lack
'til Seaton came with superior cunning
to kill all wolves that mankind was hunting

he caught Blanca, all splendid in white
in a trap specially concealed for her plight
Lobo oblivious, stayed near by her side
and witnessed, as rope strangled, she died

the desert night howled loud with despair
as Lobo's cries for Blanca filled the cold air
Seaton continued with his plan of course
but began to review intent, and feel remorse

he called the day and went to his cabin
with Blanca's body to lure Lobo to happen
to enter into the ranch and it's danger
to reclaim his love from this deadly stranger

Lobo came looking but stealthily got away
so Seaton used her scent to trap his prey
Lobo's longing and sorrow finally came to end
when caught in four traps of Seaton's attend

Seaton found he was unable to kill Lobo on site
Taken to ranch and chained, he died later that night
Ernest Seaton finally saw what he'd wrought
the end of wilderness mankind had bought

Seaton wrote of the valiant wolf with commendation
and advocated for environmental preservation
he was at center of movement of scouting for boys
and controversially wrote of animals with poise

trapped by Blanca's love, Lobo died with respect
instrumentally motivating movement to redirect
humanities notion that there is no place untamed
and man is the greatest problem nature has claimed

To Banyan my love....

Where is the seed that I had sown
crying or laughing? Did she grew

I recollect the days#

Her body was fit to manifest the eternal
Inside the womb of mother's soil
A body took shape,
Enjoying the god's symphony
Consuming a little food mother hath taken

And time came with vociferous force,
A methodical plan god had drawn
Exerting the joy of pressure, earth had cried,
Tearing the womb apart, she gazed at her mother....
A moment of stillness brushed the air
Joy of tears gushed in earth's quivering face
Rain touched the sand
Blessing the new born divine

Possessing an immortal consciousness
Forgetting the future ahead
With a tempting smile stick on her face
She was drawn to her karmic laws
Before the play was enjoyed by the child
Naming ceremony was envied by all,
Mother earth whispered in the ears, 'Banyan'.

Banyan, A will she combated to crush the tamasic force
A resemblance of divine, her body was
An errant marvel she carried around
Budha and Krishna felt solitude in her shade,
Omniscient god proud at her growth,
Mother earth possessed an imperishable happiness,
Amused at her daughter's beauty.

John, Where is the seed that I had sown?

John#

"Before the youth days hath passed
A human came running
She had sensed the death knell of greed
Criying to the mother
Begging for some more time
For ozone layer was picking up pace
And the work that was destined
Remained unfinished

When she was bruised
A cry was heard aloud, neighborhood had heard
knife was plunged at her heart?
Stopping her cry
Keeping her grief to her own soul
Praying for the killer
She succumbed to human's greed
An ephemeral joy hit the human face"

Nooooooooo............

John, Where is the seed that I had sown
Where is my beloved?
In the timber wood store
Or another table for dinner?

A White Shadow (Double Reverse Etheree)

The shadows of the forest beckoning
I wander down under ancient trees
that stately stand guarding all
cloaking the hidden secrets
from eyesight in the gloom
hearing a rustle
high in the trees
there perched
you sit
still
not
moving
a statue
until to wing
you swoop through the trees
not a sound do you make
a white shadow in the dark
you land nearby, your hoot rings out
another hoot in the distance
answering you fly off to join your mate

night sleeps

The night has gone to sleep, and the day has awaken.Time to look at the bright blue sky,the waters that gleams in the light of the shinning sun.The birds that chirp with pride. The trees of flickering shades of green and the flowers in colorfull bloom. The night is sleeping its time to bask in the glory of the sun.
