she

You never walked
it was more the curve
of the Earth
found a mooring
in the shape of your foot

You never sang
it was more a distillation
of vibrated yearning
and what followed
saluted a starved ear

You never painted
it was more you found
the depth of unwitting testimony
and light
bled through the canvass

You never chased
numerical truth
it was more the starling cloud
of value
Settling on the branch of your logic

You never swam the spring tide
it was more the sea inhaled
And the normal laws of Physics
let you pass

My Own Sunrise

Embedded image from another site

" My Own Sunrise "

Here I sit
beneath a melting sun
As I watch the moon rise
I slowly come undone
With frozen eyes
that steal the world
And I dream of a life
I dont deserve
From within my soul
I feel I've died
Wasps fill my head
killing the fireflies
That I've tried so hard
to protect
I wonder
Will my heart
ever beat again
Because Its filled with love
Yet lacerated
Quietly dark
and somewhat jaded
But if I do my best
Will You forgive
May I taste Your clouds
and kiss heavens lips
Before I fade away
into the night
I count my blessings
then become the light
With my eyes upon
shooting stars
Where my earthly body
is no longer scarred
Then with hope
I look up to neon skies
Inhaled the darkness
and drank from the sunrise
Swallowing parts of me
I will always own
But this hell was never
meant to be my home

About this poem:
What is the good of your stars and trees, your sunrise and the wind, if they do not enter into our daily lives?

Circle of Life... Socrates Challenge.

Birth, Growth, Maturation, Reproduction, Decay, Death.

~ A Sonnet.~

Of all the magic moments on this earth,
Our lives so blessed with wonders that are rife,
And surely none more wondrous than child birth,
To witness the beginning of new life.

All doting parents watch their babies thrive,
They teach them to stay safe and feel secure,
To pass on good life lessons they contrive,
A labour of pure love 'till they're mature.

They'll then find love and marry their soul mate,
And share a home with God as the mainstay,
Where they can build on dreams and procreate,
Before their wheels of life start to decay.

May love and warmth sustain them when they're old,
Then death some day will serve their last meal cold.

I Am A Wildflower

Out in the open meadow
Swaying in the breeze
I am a wildflower
Living a life of ease

The seed from which I grew
Was blown here by the wind
It landed on the earth
And that was my beginning

I am watered by the rain
And fed by the earth
Each of them is dear to me
My life depends on both

My beauty is free for all to see
Even a little child
I love the life I am living
I enjoy being free and wild

blooming time

Queen Anne's Lace petals its way across
wide fields swaying in unison
even a small breeze turns them
this way or that, changing, leaning

Poppies, Blue Bonnets, Dandelions
all the dancing flower heads
colored hairdo'd flowers scented
sweet fragrance and hues sublime

great swaths of deep purple and red
blazing yellow to white of sun
Dutch windmills turn to fields
vast with Tulips of every tinge

bees and butterflies buzz and flutter
as flowering summer drones on today
satin and silk petals so enticing
Roses and Asters and Iris spike out

oh, how I love the blossom of Mother
Nature's bosom, all the Dahlias, Daisies,
and Zinnias, the Sunflowers bright,
Lilies, Lavender, and Chrysanthemums

Night With A Wolf

High up in the lonely mountains
Where the wild men watched and waited;
Wolves in the forest and bears in the bush,
And I on my path belated.

The rain and the night together
Came down, and the wind came after,
Bending the props of the pine tree roof,
And snapping many a rafter.

I crept along in the darkness
Stunned, and bruised, and blinded;
Crept to a fir with thick set boughs,
And a sheltering rock behind it.

There, from the blowing and the raining
Crouching I sought to hide me;
Something rustled;Two amber eyes shone;
And a wolf lay down beside me!

His wet fur pressed against me
Each of us warmed the other,
Each of us felt, in the stormy dark
That beast and man were brother.

And when the falling forest
No longer crashed in warning;
Each of us went from our hiding place,
Forth in the wild, wet morning.
And

Seasoning

Morning is the springtime of the day,
Awakening, rebirth, renewal.
Warm and fuzzy creatures, out to play,
The scampering of feet diurnal.

Midday can be thought the summertime,
For summoning up the resources.
A time of strength in the warmer clime,
Thus gathering up all our forces.

Gloaming brings us autumn's retraction,
Pulling in all tendrils from chilling.
Protect, retreat, nature's reaction,
In every creature instilling.

Winter, of course, comes with the darkness,
Huddling deep in our safe retreats.
Outside is the gloom and the starkness,
As we sleep til the pattern repeats.

Thus cycles within one another,
In endless arrays, ever-changing,
All prepared by all-knowing Mother,
In seemingly random arranging.

Ozark Autumn

---- IMAGE REMOVED because photobucket.com no longer allows embedded images ----

The Mother's taken brush to sky,
And painted leaves of red and gold.
In hues of riotous display,
She slings her paints with strokes so bold.

The crisping air, the chilling breeze,
They tell the tale of things to be.
But here before the winter's blast,
She gives us this one final spree.

The Autumn here in Ozark hills,
So beautiful beyond compare,
With scenes that bring the heart such joy,
You simply have to stop and stare.

With camera I tramp around,
To try and capture this sweet time.
It doesn't last, but just for now,
We must enjoy this perfect clime.

So here's to Mother's plan so fine,
That gives us all such a delight.
Her glory is an endless line.
Her beauty makes the heart take flight.

Forty Years and Forty Nights

We should not howl loud into the hollow
Announcing all the world is doom and gloom
For time march not like death to a gallow
Waiting for the ol' volcano to plume

Forty years and forty nights an eon
Time measures deeper into space than light
Make our needs to suffer oblivion
Dulling our senses that once shone so bright

For fruits of our labor decay to dust
When the fading sky will swallow the sun
When great cracks rip across the earth's dry crust
The moment comes when darkness thus begun

Nothing safe but our spirit in the wind
Like a lonely owl keeping one eye skinned

Tiger in Aries (acrostic

Tiger in Aries (acrostic)

Tiger mighty one are you
In deep shadows you lie
Great king of the jungle
Enjoying your slumber
Roaring out your anger

In fury when disturbed
Not a single leaf moves

As you stalk your prey
Ready now for a kill
Icy cold is your glare
Eyes brightly shining as
Silently you eat your fill
