Ice Fishing (Frozen Canuck)

We optomistically loaded our sled
Off to debated location we tred
Hit some really huge bumps
Repacked after sleigh dumps
Once out seems like paradise
Auger spews diamond like ice
Fish finder on with sensitivity set
Lures and tackle reviewed no fret
Rods and tackle quickly selected
Seats and bait admirably elected
Lines down and jigging commences
Freezing cold as we loose our senses
Wind blows and skin is numbed
Fish looking thinking we're dumb
Herring caught but not in season
Released as not allowed the reason
Hatchet clears ice as hole freezes
Balaclava on because of cold breezes
Coffee and soup to stave off hunger
Try different spots increases anger
New lures as not getting any younger
Chat to find out what other's doing
Conversing with gum we are chewing
Now dark and we're frozen and tired
Pack up feeling much less inspired
Load sled and head for shore
Up the hill is a tremendous chore
Speeding to quickly get home
Hot chocolate as we all moan
Grumble and say things not nice
However tommorrow... back on the ice?

Sunny day

Her Hair sways,
She dances in the sun
Her eyes sparkle ,
She glances at the sun
Her heart beats,
She feels the heat of the sun
Smile dances upon her lips,
Beads of sweat drip,
Skin bronzed,
She basks in the sun.

Here it comes..........

Looking out the window
Into the bleak of day
Grey clouds hover
As palm fronds gently sway
Raindrops gather
To run down windowpane
As the coolness creeps in
To regulate my sane
Moods change
As smiles appear
Darkness gathers
With just a hint of fear
The long dry spell
Finally broken through
As I ponder intently
What next I could do.......

EXRED

WAITING

Voices chattering in my garden
The soil and lawn have hardened

Flower petals had dropped down
Leaves have swirled all around

Veggie patch empty and bare
Caterpillars and grubs, nowhere

Anticipation is in the air
For what? I stand and stare

A peace reigns for this time
Waiting for white frosts to be kind

THE TURTLE

Driving along the road yesterday
Up ahead were flashing hazard lights
I slowed down on approaching the fray
Until I could get in full sight

Wondering if something bad was ahead
One man was getting out of his car
I approached cautiously with much dread
He was staring at the hot blacktop tar

I too looked to see what was there
And started to laugh at the sight that I saw
Trudging down the road without a care
I watched this huge turtle in awe

He kept walking with determination
Not to let anything stop him
From reaching his final destination
Did he know his chances were very grim

I drove on praying in my heart
That God’s creature would be safe in his travels
Wishing that we humans were that smart
To trust God when our life starts to unravel

Knowing that He is watching over us
And He will help us to get where we are going
Without all the fuss and muss
But with complete faith and knowing

Don't Worry, Be Happy

I am a fearless Kiskadee
Sitting on a branch of this tree
Singing my theme song happily
With a Kis Ka Dee Kis Ka Dee

I sing my song very sweetly
Seeking to make others happy
Filling them with ecstasy
With its rhythm and melody

My message is not to worry
Despite how things in life may be
Don't let them make you feel crazy
At all times, strive to be happy

One can state things that are likely
But no one knows what things will be
So keep your chin up cheerfully
And sing Kis Ka Dee Kis Ka Dee.

About this poem:
The Great Kiskadee (Pitangus Sulpharatus) is indigenous to Central and South America, the Caribbean and Southern Texas.

I have added two more videos.
One actually shows a kiskadee in action singing his song.
The other gives an audio of one kiskadee calling and another kiskadee answering.

The Wheel Of Life

The wheel of life keeps turning every day
Birth, life and then the subsequent decay
All living things must return whence they came
The pattern always remaining the same

All living things start life's journey at birth
Become adult through the process of growth
They then participate in reproduction
Thus creating the next generation

Life then continues daily in this world
Until old age and illness take their toll
Lastly, all must face death's reality
That brings a final end to life's journey

The wheel goes through a full revolution
With each and every new generation
Whatever is alive will someday die
This will surely happen as time goes by

blooms end

Blossoms of fiery colors lifting souls, far beyond ourselves as there beauty quells our off-time sighs. Now all but gone as the stillness of the chill creeps in. plants of summer withering into the depth of winters grace awaiting for the white blankits embrace. Leaves falling in awesome silence to bearen ground awaiting much needed rest. The chills of night and cold winds of day guess winter is well on its way.
