In Olive there is a tree I know perfict, strait and just so. Like a clean minded person with a life so high it towerd prowdly in the sky. It was plain that old tree, but yet beautyful to see. When I saw it my chest filled with pride And each time it was more beautyful to my eyes. I travled that road one day and before me Olive lay,And when it came in sight my eyes streached in vain. Lest that old dear dear old tree so plain. But I saw nothing towering agianst the sky. As I looked in wonder tears came to my eyes,That dear old tree was gone forever. But it shall never leave my peaceful mind, no never.

About this poem:
just another tree poem

There was a hush everywhere
as if the world was on pause
an expectancy stirring in the air
not a single sound just silence
What was happening out there?
far away, deep in the outback
a circle stood made of animals
each with ears pricked forward
Staring intently, still as statues
hardly a breath being drawn
in the middle giving birth
A beauteous snow white deer
The fawn is born, a collective sigh
stirs from the spell bound audience
here she is, the promised princess
a plaintive cry as she struggles to her feet
There in the moonlight she stands
regal from the tip of her nose
proudly her mother shows her off
Bambi moves forward to join them
Trembling legs all going each way
Bambi nuzzles her as she stands
this he seems to say is my heir
all the animals approach and kneel
Paying their homage to Silver
exclaiming at her beauty
peace will reign the forest
all drawn together by the birth

Wind howling forlorn
thundering through the tree tops
branches crashing down

Snow swirling, whirling
coating all in pristine white
like diamonds glinting

Hear the lonely shrieks
as seagulls twist and hover
over the fishing boats

Fast to fly, flock of birds
Beating chrome wings, casting shadows
Over golden meadows
I stand still, gazing skyward
Wondering why, to realize
What will hypnotize
First to fall, frozen white stars
Descending downward, touching ground
Without any sound
I feel hushed, numbing cold
Shivering calm, to discover
My soul will hover
Nothing at all, answers me at last
Walking homeward, dying daylight
My lonesome plight
I fall silent, darkness pervades
Replacing life, will ever imbue
The secrets I knew

About this poem:
An abstract poem about quiet reflection and the arrival of winter.

the roar of water
floods my senses
my hearing intoxicated
my vision overwhelmed
majestically pouring
its heart out
over time smoothed rocks
dancing within the eddies
a dress of white
cascading beautifully
elegantly softly
embellishing the surround
to be painted in colours
as bright an inspiring
as the birds in song
to allow this natural beauty
to feel to live
to belong........

How warmly a'glow your fire greets me well
Just around the bend and seein' me home
Those lovely curled swirls of smoke rising s'well
Over blankets of snow's coverin' dome
For in that sweet odour born of the woods
Many a'whole days I trudged its timber
Bucksawed and stacked neat in an ol' woodshed
Countless swings of axe make me so limber
Lo' in wind drifts over meadows swagger
With these footsteps my perilous travel
Deep into snow's softin' crust I stagger
That last longest mile I dare not cavil
The fresh smell of stew in a pot simmerin'
Hanging over your soft coals shimmerin'

About this poem:
Much about rural life is living off the land..and in the forest there connects a winter's chore of cutting trees to a spring chore of splitting wood and stacking over a summer to dry...and then burning logs again the next winter season; as seasons wrap around seasons.

My frozen world becomes broken in time
Splinters of beauty does cracklin' ice bring
Those gentle clinks of a muffled wind chime
Wintered valley hear a tolling bell ring
Smokey steam rises from a running brook
Drifts lazily through a dark barren branch
Across the sleeping woods might be forsook
Iced o'er water making the earth's blood stanch
Depart these last days of winter sublime
Water turning vapor before my eyes
Restless as spirits will rise in their time
Ghostly apparitions we need surmise
Castawaya dreams imaginary
Exist either whole or fragmentary

About this poem:
This sonnet is written as a sublime portals of slightly warmer runoff water enters a slowly swollen stream just beginning to rise with the coming of the first warm rains of spring over a land still frozen in winter time.

Waiting with wings folded and one leg tucked
My beak buried beneath my wing no sight
Is seen sleeping so soundly head so ducked
Only darkness surrounds me in daylight
Time standing still on one stilt near shoreline
Where n’er even a slightest hint of breeze
For smooth as glass reflecting deep and fine
Causes my green and brown image to freeze
A perfect camouflage blends with a hush
Near cedars clutching in a cleft of rock
No finer detail charms an artist’s brush
Nor is seen by any passing marsh hawk
Silence waits while nature blends together
Matching patterns made by perfect feathers

A storm of feelings swells in my soul as sun sets the abyss a fire in colorful glow. The moon shyley rises illuminating sky for the stars festive show. The silhouett of hills and valleys below, flow in blissful grace under its glow. The night has begun, natures orcstra begins. Setting a song in my heart and grabs ahold of my soul.
