The Beach

As I walk along the seashore
Waves beating against my feet
Skirt pulled above my knees
Hair blowing in the breeze
I reflect on my life
Past times, good and bad
Memories I'll treasure forever
Heartbreak tucked away wherever
The wind makes my eyes stream
The sea salt coats my lips
Natures beauty at my fingertips
I take a breath
Stop and stare
Change my mindset
Sure life's not always fair
The sun shows itself again
Bringing a smile to my face
I'm once again reminded
Life is beautiful
When I'm at this special place

Blue Mountains

Time will crumble ancient sandstone ramparts -
In rocky ruin to the valley floor below;
Oldest forest spirit - the ghost departs-
Silver serpent in mountain stream will flow;-
Words could scarce do justice -nor any arts-
Grey gums, ghost gums - seldom winter snow;
Land so old - that time itself stood still -
I've always loved her - and I guess I always will.

Behold wild cliff faces - tumble down through time;-
Burnished orange in the Sun's reflected glow,
Her face turned to the light - in each season's clime;-
Tufts of mist 'cross each craggy rocky brow;-
Vapours dissolve in the morning sunshine -
Quick look at those clouds of cotton wool!
Before the day's full burning heat does banish-
All mists into the air do quickly vanish.

Gum trees wild and sprawling to the cliff's edge-
In a rough green carpet to the valley floor,
The windblown scrub and toughest mountain sedge -
A straight drop of six hundred feet or more;-
Step close to danger - on a sheer rocky ledge -
(An ancient sea - in a time long gone before)
Great mountain range now soft with a blue haze;
Eucalyptus dancing on the summer breeze.

About this poem:
The famous Blue Mountains World Heritage Area, about 60 km west of Sydney. The "Blue" colour is caused by the refraction of sunlight through a very fine vapour of eucalyptus oil given off by thousands of trees in the heat of the day.

Purple Moon

Out of the darkness does bring
Those hazy midsummer dreams
Where the river turns land into mud
Hearing our names in an echo
Dreaming under your purple moon

Without no fires or stars ablaze
Dimly lighting the mountain stones
Slowly crescent around a misty pond
The stilling silence that you bring
Dreaming under your purple moon

Letting go all my heavy weight
Flying like a lightening bug
Dancing in your light forevermore
Smiling at all the tranquility
Dreaming under your purple moon

The Magnificent Air

Invisible air links all living things
Whether animals, plants or some other
Throughout Nature, this message rings
Living things share the air with each other

Food and water that animals take in
And oxygen from the air they inhale
Provide energy after processing
And carbon dioxide which they exhale

From carbon dioxide, plants take carbon
And incorporate it in their structure
This is through photosynthesis action
Which releases oxygen thereafter

These actions are repeated endlessly
Asserting the link between living things
It's a glorious marvellous unity
And the magnificent song Nature sings

About this poem:
The air we breathe is probably one of the most taken for granted things. It unites all living things. It levels the playing field. Some persons may consider human life to be superior to plant life. Yet, plants play a vital role in sustaining human life by replenishing the oxygen content of the air. They assimilate, into their structure, the carbon from the carbon dioxide human beings exhale and release the oxygen through photosynthesis, thereby replenishing the air's oxygen, which is vital for human existence

(iambic pentameter).

Isolation

I Miss My Flying Like A Bird
I Miss My Coming to The Nest
I Keep Sitting In My Nest
I am afraid of The Pandemic
Virus called Covid 19
I Trust in GOD
Want to Fly again
The Friend Birds Says
Keep Sitting in Nest
If you don't have the Virus
Other Birds may have
One Intelligent Bird said
The Germs Of Virus Fly in Air
Its keep on multiplying
All Over The World
Keep sitting in your nest
Till the Order Of The GOD
To The Virus To Bury In Earth.
GOD KEEP ALL HUMANS SAFE FROM PANDEMIC
CURE THOSE WHO ARE SUFFERING FROM IT

Little Bud

One fine spring morn as I walked through the wood,
I spied an uncommon handsome little bud.
It stood out from the rest on a chestnut tree,
I know not why it so appealed to me.

I watched it through the summer as it grew.
Its splendour and its beauty stood it apart.
Its green was of the most enchanting hue,
and to that regal leaf I lost my heart.

Then September came and turned my leaf to red;
by October my beloved leaf was dead.

A Flower Is Born

Every flower must grow through some dirt
Such as the struggle of life knows notoriously
When whisks of winds cloud the half moon
Such tepid swirling of gases are heated
An overhead sun burning so gloriously
All at once in a mid-summertime dream
All attention is drawn or so it seems
Pushes its fragile canopy towards the sky
Escaping from its confines working laboriously
Until at last with as much proper notice taken
Very rare and beautified can not be mistaken
Comes a pleasure earned so meritoriously
And a feeling of joy shared so victoriously

Knifetooth

Motionless in the prairie grass the Smilodon intently lay.
In the early morning sunshine waiting for its favourite prey.
No movement or heavy breathing as it reclined statuesque.
This carnivore's invisible hunting talent was the very best.

At the water hole a small herd of bison sauntered there.
Carefully inhaling samples of the morning mist and air.
The Sabretooth predator instinctively stayed downwind.
The bisons sipped the water and several sauntered right in.

With lightning speed the statue amazingly came to life!
Several leaps and bounds towards food oh so very rife.
The 400 pound Knifetooth lept like an arrow leading game,
Its frenzied target true and tried with accurate quivered aim.

The great ravenous Sabretooth had became airborne!
The bison scattered like so many black buttons being torn.
The closest bison startled but seem to be entranced,
As if its iris took a final image of the hunter's clever dance.

The bison then turned and bolted but tardiness be judged!
The Sabretooth landed and its fangs would not be budged.
The bison reared in fear and head swirled round in pain,
As if to take one lasting look of its habitat domain.

The sabre tooth grabbed ribs with claws of steel
And took another bite like a trap with huge spring feel.
The bison lost balance and tumbled to the right
As Smilodon went faster now to not prolong its fight.

Tearing fur and cleaving flesh was everywhere in sight.
Mournful awful weeping sounds suggested end of flight.
Spurting blood escaping from veins and ventriculum!
The bison slowly dying becoming increasingly numb.

Furied Flying soil and hair from fangs and claws of steel.
Empty stomach and transfixed mind made it all too real.
The prey melted and all parts finally hugged the ground.
The soon to be carcass then exhaled its... final mournful sound.

About this poem:
In the age of the Sabretooth (Named Smilodon meaning Knifetooth)
It is thought the sabretooth used its stealth to blend in and
waited for game as it was not realy all that agile. Its favourite
food being bison apparently.

New Day

The view was almost completely dark revealing a few outlines only.
The black turned to a grey and soft
jagged edges appeared above the horizon.
The sun although not visible announced its
coming with suppressed rays overhead.
The grey now admitted that it was a heavy
mist enveloping the trees and scenery
Like a huge poltergeist taking all and sundry under its submission.
Slowly the ghostly apparition released
its grasp and objects appeared.
A group of pine trees, several deciduous with
hints of yellow and promises of orange.
A hedge and grass oozed from the lower level
as mists swirled and twisted upwards
Pushed and vacuumed to the white blue sky above every so slowly.
Light came quickly now in the relevance of time
and space and grey mass synapses of perception.
A crow cawed its presence with a repetative
six note cacophony of its existence.
In the distance a like minded species repeated
in quite certain acknowledgement
To both ascertain and display its position and physical relevance.
As the crows carried on their morning conversation
I saw The outline of trees and hedges and grass
and small displays of mans influence.
The hydro pole and line and distance roof
outline emerged as vapors disappeared.
And rays of sun shine combined to define the
early stirrings of the late summer day
A small chipmunk darted in and out of a small pile
of firewood as if frantically searching for a friend.
A mobile metronome swayed back and forth although not in rhythm, further investigation revealing the family cat
in crouched position and tail twitching ready
to scurry after the chipmunk
only to loose it in a small mound of lumber as
the feline screeched to an abrupt halt.
The pictures were all clear and vivid with well
defined edges and the new day and stirrings of life ensued
The glowing and distant sun demonstrating that
it gives our world light and life
Keeping darkness and grey from what would
otherwise be a hard, frozen lifeless planet
Sun that we all take for granted I acknowledge and salute you .
You humble me with your display of power and generosity.
