memories in rows of green beads
that align like racing steeds
settling upon cultivated ground
trodden under and worn
the past is found planted
in frayed strands of time
the tilled memories become
tiny blooms, Oh, so sublime
riders on bountiful excursions
seedsman in secret gardens
where memories grow
the planting of all that is
the landscape of our lives

I wondered how many really died
Which politician really lied
I see our weaknesses magnified
As the death toll multiplied
I see a world brought to a halt
Everyone trying to pass the fault
As COVID made a giant somersault
Reminds me why Lot's wife turned to salt.
Leaders once dominating made unsure
Scientist scrambled about for a cure
Most of us hidden behind a closed door
Watching tv and/or trying to learn more
While the Essentials tried to be brave
Not properly equip as lives they save
Our loved one might be buried in a mass grave
No matter if it be owner or slave
Our heart rate is now only registered rapid.
The future to most just looks morbid
Lord for Goliath you sent mighty little David;
Please Lord what or whom are you sending for COVID!

About this poem:
MORE CRAZY THOUGHTS I VOICE HERE.

when I awakened at daybreak, I first went outside
all about on the ground there was fresh fallen snow
I quickly gathered a new stack of wood for the fire
then headed back in the house and over to the stove
my body was still stiff from the day’s work before
but I started to limber as the flames became higher
as usual my mother had risen hours before
to be preparing the meal that would be served on this day
she was baking and sifting, back and forth ‘cross the floor
doing those things only she could, in her own special way
it’s thanksgiving at our house with family gathered ‘round
heads bow in silence as father offers the grace
at the head of the table set a place for our Lord
with somber gratitude of mother earth’s hallowed ground
as farmers we live in the balance of nature
we are thankful to them from whom all bounty has poured
no matter what the outcome
we are grateful for our harvest
as we have been, year after year
we are counting our blessings
for we still have one another
in health and that we hold so dear
thanksgiving at our house, the family is here
with our glasses all raised, let us toast in good cheer
.

I am a warrior,
Without a war,
I am tranquility,
Without peace,
I live to die,
I am dying to live,
Given you the sunshine that brightens your eyes,
I give you the moon that you fear,
I am growing older,
Yet, I'll be here for many more years,-
Pick a flower flowerchild, my sweet,
I am an angel,
I am the beast,-
I am right,
Constantly high,
Am I wrong?,
Wine, women, and song?,-
I am love,
I am hate,
I can rule,
I can debate,-
Remember me as the fluffy clouds linger by,
From all four corners,
There I will lie,-
Facing the moon with my back against the sun,
Once more,
Then there were none--

About this poem:
This one I wrote was 12-10-1993. This is the idea of pre-history, history, future tense post-history and then a time when there will be no history at all. With Thanksgiving drawing near, you may want to be sated with what you have now. It's better than being solo. Like Earth.

Along the footpaths a mile and a half's stroll
Cross the motorway good job there's no toll
Ice House wood where summer flowers bloom
Negotiate the road where cars and lorries zoom.
Up Dog and Bear lane at a steady amble
Into the trees and skirt the brambles
Once at the top where Byron used to walk
Listen to the trees they seem to talk
Telling there tales of times gone away
Through the Gravel quarry now a main highway
Look over the valley the pits have been pulled down
Only the spoil heaps evil and brown
Turn on my heel head homeward I pray
The path is now metalled and grey
Another mile or so uphill and around
Over the motorway safe and sound
Arrive at home all seems so fast
Off with my boots and sit down at last
On with the kettle a nice cup of tea
Planning another trip when I am free

online today!
Waves of time moving across Space
Memories formed that
Trail behind us like a wake;
The future yet to come;
As glitter stars shine light,
Opon an Immensity;
We cannot comprehend

As the last leaves flitter to the ground
There’s this sense of urgency falls all around
Some may call it disquieting or just wound
While others just blend in with the crowd
What we surmise for ourselves to give
Would be wise for us all to forgive
Would this be the first time you live
Or entertain thoughts to relive
Our entire lives are all that matter
Between the raindrops pitter-patter
The clouds do break and scatter
The winter bird will sing and chatter

About this poem:
Last of New England’s fall days. Leaves have almost completely dropped and the sun is now low in the sky.

Almost lost but for light of high moon
Reflects a sun still shining over sea
Drifting away dreams that vanish too soon
Fog burning off to a lessor degree
Silence is stillness in an early spring
A time when even the night creatures rest
Calming hours before the daylight bring
Gently the first breeze will blow north by west
Solitude spreads evenly like the dew
Quietly above does the mountain watch
Searching like eyes of a baby raptor
Gazing from a nest in its hidden notch
Soon a most beautiful sunrise will stun
Awakenning all where life has begun

Nourished perished moment will never be forever
Nor the passed by time will ever return
Would you ever succeed while standing on the shore
Dive deep in the middle of the ocean to find your peal.

~~~~~
a bird sang sweetly
despite the city chaos
nature will survive
~~~~~
a single raindrop
disturbed the glistening pond
then reflections danced
~~~~~
a sudden shower
the adults ran for shelter
children love puddles
