botany

I once knew two sisters
aptly named Flora and Fauna
I coulda loved them both
for sure I was a goner

Flora was a flowery lass
pretty Fauna was easy to envy
both sisters planted kisses
on cheeks so warm and friendly

Fauna could change chromatically
instantly from green to red
emotions turned emphatically
joy morphed to anger instead

Flora bright-colored and perfumed
smelled wondrous and made me hot
she'd float in and brighten any room
while Fauna could definitely not

animal instincts gave way you see
though both sisters lovely when bare
Fauna tasted a bit green to me
Flora blossomed her flower to share

champaign and pain

OPPOSITES DETRACT

Our lifestyles are miles apart
So why would I want your heart?
We don’t think at all the same
I liked you so much but your refusal ‘tis such a shame

Can you imagine both of us feeling the same?
I can tell you about portraits with not one frame
Yet you are over there, stuffed away where you want to be
And there is no contentedness for a special soul like me

It began so nicely, easily, as if it was fate’s demand
Now I can’t even imagine holding your hand
You said something nice which I thought was true
But as it turns out you are bias to red and I to blue

I can understand that you don’t understand
There have been many families from which I was banned
I may be difficult to put up with I can see
But I don’t dig it when women use or lie to me

Okay it may not have been a lie per se
Call it what you want, call it what you may
Sweetness turned sour because you think like a child
And baby, you’re too staid and I was born to be wild

I WISH I DIDN'T HOWEVER I DO

I WISH I DIDN’T HOWEVER I DO

The flowers bloomed earlier and taller that spring
Everyone commented on the reds and the green
It seemed as if that held true for everything
People said “oh my, what a lovely scene”

There were bigger leaves and much stronger stalks
The pansies stood proud and welcomed every bee around
For bees are not threats no matter how much one gawks
simply let them pollinate each bud grown from the ground

mid-spring was welcomed by the garden with praise
Making warmth from what four months ago almost froze
For a man ever on the move I lose track of the days
As a league of eyes gazed at the beauty only love grows

I swear I heard a hummingbird sing a soul song
Or it may have been a sparrow sipping on early morning dew
The lyrics were regarding how the plants stayed so strong
And my sweetness, it all began when I was blessed by meeting you
(don’t ask me where this mush is coming from)

SHE WROTE THIS POEM (I HAVE DIMENTIA)

SHE WROTE THIS POEM (I HAVE DIMENTIA)

Often we meet new people and know
We just don’t know what to say
Sometimes you just want to rise up and go
But then the lord of dance wills you to stay

I always compare it to a dove seeking a mate
While landing with grace on the highest tower
The dove knows all about providence and fate
While the Lord of dance grants him a power

Suddenly where a dove roosted all alone
Because of the power he had been granted
Two doves agreed to face the unknown
Because seeds will grow if properly planted

Sitting by a fast food restaurant waiting
Watching people pass by and time as well
This is that which I am unequivocally stating
To some pretty lady I’m a pretty hard sell

So the dance continues or it fades away
No melody, no harmony and everything seems wrong
But oftentimes the Lord of dance has his say
And sometimes two start singing the very same song

HEAVEN'S HOARDS

HEAVEN’S HOARDS

All I believe is in Heaven there must be quite a crowd
All the earthly beings who refused to harm or sin
There are the heroes, the risk takers and the proud
Heaven probably already let fourteen trillion people

The line to get in must be universally long
And that’s only for the pious ones
The ones taken off the line are the ones never did wrong
Heaven is filled with souls who never used fist a rifle or guns

It’s taking people like days and days to finally enter
Unknowingly the line turned into a circle in shape
There was a circle and only 1200 fools who stood in the center
And on the floor there’s a sign that reads “do not go past this tape”

Man, I know the galaxy is giant and could be expanding every day
But that’s how big Heaven must be to cater to every resident
Then there’s the opposite where lakes are on fire and the ones who never stopped to pray
That place is called Hell and upon my arrival I will soon be voted president

THERE AIN'T NO SCO NO MO

THERE AIN’T NO SCO NO MO

I recall when we first sang that f****ing song
And danced from twilight until the sun
As for me we couldn’t have danced too long
As I freely floated and you sensually spun

You sang lead and I the backup harmony
A symphony composed by only you and me
The theme was a sonata meant to be
And so I thrilled to my dancer’s decree

“hold me closer and tighter my dear”
Those were the lyrics I penned for you
“let thy words draw me ever near”
And thus the melody did what only it could do

When I scribed those words they seemed so real
And “eternal” was a concept I suddenly understood
But by the orchestration was I taught how to feel
As destiny and perpetuity have done all they could
l
Now due to you I can no longer sing that song
Nor can I listen to it any more
The rhythm’s off and the lyrics are wrong
Since I wrote the words but you ruined the score

A SILENT SUNDAY LED TO A MERRY MONDAY

DIS HERE ONES FER YOU KID!

It intrigues me how people so easily can change their mind
people change misplaced anger into something suddenly kind
What the lady had said wasn’t proper nor was it called for
And no one ever wanted to put a woman in her place more

The lady seems candy type sweet but she can be lemon type tart
And then something or other dictates a dictum her heart
It must be, I imagine, that perhaps they misjudged me in the first place
And suddenly contrition turns them from gabardine into lace

Now I’m talking to you who didn’t have a right to insult me
But you got so angry over something I just couldn’t see
I was in a quandary with a query as to why you had done what you’d done
It was as if I were standing in front of you holding an Uzi machine gun

But now you’ve righted things as far as I’m concerned
Yet I don’t know if you were taught or if you really learned
You treated me as a lowly cockroach scurrying away from the light
Still I will live in hope you realize that what you did simply wasn’t right

YO J! THIS AIN'T A "J" POEM

v]
DID WILL, BILL AND GIL GET THEIR PILL?

I have this great idea to invent a pill
Make it so men can get pregnant as well
Dudes walking around in camouflage
Get a huge belly and know pregnancy is an un-earthly hell

This pill will be mandated and mandatory to ingest
Let’s let men do what women have been doing since Eve
Let the future climb out of Walter’s womb
With little baskets to make and baby blankets to weave

So mommy is in one hospital room and daddy’s in another
And our peaceful home will be noisy for quite a while
One kid from her and the other one from him
And the dad wonders how his wife can summon a smile

Don’t all of you get it, there’s been a problem for years
And we should have monitored each and every birth
Because all we’ve accomplished is a problem made worse
And doesn’t everyone understand we are over-populating the earth?

PYSICALLY aged BUT spirtualLY YOUTHful

PYSICALLY AGED BUT SPIRITUALLY YOUTHFUL

He stared at me with his cloudy and aged eyes
Aged but oh so very wise
My girlfriend of fifteen years introduced he and I
As the figure of an intelligent man drew nigh

So he would join us for some wine and just a bit of cheese
And said “go ahead and call me “Shooter” if you please
They named me that because I wouldn’t pick up a gun
And hope I taught the very same principle to my son

Pick up the rifle, that shotgun or a sword
And I pray the words I say to my son won’t be ignored
Once you pick up that weapon of war my boy
You join the spirit of Gettysburg, Korea and Hanoi

So “Shooter” went on about what his son had done
Did he ever disrespect you and pick up a gun?
“Shooter” related all the hopes which fate would never yield
And then he whispered, “yes, he picked up a gun and died for oil and land on a foreign battlefield”

CAVIAT EMPTY

AT LEAST SAID THE BEAST

Doesn’t death frighten you at all?
Well please allow me to enlighten you all
Death can be frightening to a lowly monkey
BUT one cannot fear death when one is a junkie

every time you score some dope from someone you don’t know
It could mean wonder or it could mean woe
A lot of people put shit in quality dope and don’t give a damn about you
So what, you were allergic to whatever he sold, that’s what people like him do

I mean if you’re going to score some dope and you don’t know the source
You can roll the dice or alter a well considered course
Because if his baby needs diapers and they all need food
Now see, that’s when life becomes lasciviously lewd

You can’t hit the street asking strangers for dope
One could be a pervert the other a sick-o who’ll hang you with a rope
So I’m telling you that it takes being illicitly brave to survive
And I don’t give a shit about the others, at least I’m still alive
