Lighting the Way

Holiday lights color
December moments.
Their primary colors glow
through the darkness -
yet cannot compete
with the brightness of stars
that shine and self-consume
in their passion to ignite
direction to weary travelers.

Each bulb on the
Christmas string burns
with such low intensity
it cannot kindle the most
delicate branch to blaze -
yet, year after year, attempts
to mimic nature in a twinkling show
of presence, and perhaps substance,
in a world trying to find its way.

About this poem:
I love this season…a cause to ponder meaning within creation, including what we create and celebrate. While recognizing the illuminary icons that lighted our path to the present and those who lead us into the future, we should not underestimate the power of our own efforts to get others as well as ourselves through the darkness of life's winters into the light.

Elo Challenge

Seeking a kindred spirit
To complete my mind and soul
My compressed thoughts now embody

Bubbling brook with whirlpools
Containing white capsules of my spirit
May I embrace God's beauty

From brook, stream, river and ocean core
and let us drift off to celestial shores

natures coil

the moon changing colors in the darkness
an eagle in the eye of a bird taking flight
a spiders desire to string its home
a rainbow in the mist of a waterfall
soft touch of a butterfly's landing
being crushed by a horses gallop
a squirels nut job
oceans wake not even opening an eye
a bull frog how did these two come to be one
and the humans nature destroying it all

my gypsy soul

gathered one behind one
they came in a herd
throughout the village
wagon wheels heard
the clanging of pots
the clinging of tin
staring i was in bewilderment
when i noticed him.

they searched the fields
for borrowed land
they settled down
gathered in camp.
daily i watched
infactuated by them
no" i tell a lie
i was with him.

just like the others
he laughed and danced in the night
thoughts of him chased me
followed him i did, to keep him in sight.
unseen i watched
like a lurker in the bush
unable to control
my burning lust.

he bathed in the lake
my eyes bore into his skin
naked and bare
watched again,unseen by him.

with a blink from my eye
he was gone from the lake
my heart skipped a beat
when i heard the twig break.
there he stood naked
with eyes as black as coal
he see's and upon me
free's my gypsy soul.

wagon wheels tins and pots
you heard them come in daylight
but a silent breeze in the dark
they left on in the night.
regret? or feel shame
perhaps maybe i should
but never how could i ever
for i have felt love.

My euology!

I used to be a writer; a little poetry by hand. A poet without the glitter; no audiance did i command. My messages were solely mine; a cummulation of my thoughts. Here and there little lines, and whatever comfort it brought. I was not the shakespear; i am who i am. These my writings, i shared, hoping if "one" would understand. Then my time was past; i wrote poems no more. Not even good poets last, muchless me, this simple bore. Yet you can make me great, reading my work through and through. Do so for this poet's sake; one who is infamous as you. Become a well known critic-: debate my work and its value. With comments from good to derelict; such helps my work shine-through. I am not the immortal; my body dead and gone. Make my work-:a living portal and byfaith a legend lives:- on!

Boundless Love

Caped as I am and living a dream
Watch me now as I climb the moonbeam
Unicorn's horn is just out of touch
I'll ride it all day and caress it a bunch
Red rubied eyes in the tiger I lead
I'll saddle him up and go as I please
The Leprecon's gold I'll find right away
Take the coins and spend it that day
Look at me now as I slowly materilize
Wasn't there... but now stare in my eyes
Top hat and tails with rabbit and dove
Can you see me now as I hover above
I ride the rainbow as a prismed spectre
Go to the end where's gold by the hectare
Cross the mountains with a magnificient bound
Then I'll touch down without even a sound
This is just some of the majic I now can do
Nothing is impossible now that you love me to

I miss her…

Here I am,
Contemplating,
I met someone new,
I should be happy, but, I’m not,
I keep thinking of her…

I tell myself that reason and logic demand that I forget her and move on,
But I can’t, heart and spirit are still immersed in her essence,
I have met and forgotten so many,
Why can’t I forget her?

She’s difficult and demanding,
But, true and fragile,
Strict and justice-ridden, but forgiving and loving,
I feel I’m about to make a huge mistake by committing to the new one…,
My heart is sick with nostalgia…

I want so badly to hold her in my arms again,
I want so badly to look deeply into her smitten eyes and tell her that this time I will not turn my back on her ever again,
I want so badly for her to trust me again, but, alas, I wounded her deeply…

God, what was I thinking?
I am paying so dearly for my error now…,
Yes, I had my rock-solid reasons, don’t be quick to judge me,
I followed hard, cold, logic,
And I rue it so now…
I rue it so…

I sense her out there,
I know she’s thinking of me,
She sends me a tentative email now and then,
Damn you Shakespeare, give me some inspiration,
What should I do?

Bah·rain

Persian
Gulf
pearl
urban
from
ancient
times
between
two seas
of salty
tears that
rain down
unrelentingly
while freshwater
springs up like hope
bubbling to the surface
may this aquifer remain
an oasis in the dessert
as the sands of time
blow across the
seas
