IN SACRED SILENCE

Under a cloak of sapphire blue,
covering these night skies.
They peer down upon me through,
their knowing diamond eyes.

While here in these velvety shadows deep
I softly ask my soul to speak.
For only in sacred silence, will it freely share
those deeper truths, that my heart must somehow learn to bear.

Blue Waters

Pen in hand ... poised to write
No thoughts come to me this night.
No ardent verse or fervent prose
to catch my love now in repose.
So here I sit and think ... and think.
An empty glass from which to drink.
With each regret my thirst grows more
as on white blue waters pour
blue waters pour.

The Feast

Have you ever watched a crescent moon tiptoe cross the sky
or sang in haunting harmony with the nightbird as she flies?
Have you tasted every color of the rainbow's lofty hues
or reveled in the raindrop's kiss?
or drank of morning dew?

Have you listened to the dawning morn streak across the sky
or touched the pristine majesty of a single butterfly?
Have you ever danced with a shooting star in the silence of the night
or ridden on a moonbeam?
or drank of sweet moonlight?

Have you broken past the darkness?
have you soared above the light?
Have you gone beyond the boundaries?
have you feasted on delight?

The Patriot

He never went to war because,
They just seemed so unjust.
All fought for greed or politics,
Some old men's power lust.

His father in the big one went,
The evil axis fell.
He liked to think if he'd lived then,
That he'd have gone as well.

The many men he'd met who claimed,
To love their country most,
Had more seemed charmed by violence,
Bravado, blood and boast.

And yet he knew that warriors,
Were often brave in fact.
When fearlessly they battled to,
Protect their buddies backs.

So when he saw his country's flag,
It filled his heart with pride,
And gave a heartfelt thank you to,
The ones who'd fought and died.

Durango

My bobber sits serenely still,
No fish to ruffle feathers,
Its worm adangling down below,
On hook securely tethered.

The osprey glides off from his tree,
And circles ever steeply,
Then suddenly drops like a rock,
Into the water deeply.

His catch entrapped in talons sharp,
Flies back to have his luncheon.
Perched on one leg upon his limb,
While on his trout he's munchin'.

A thunderstorm comes racing up,
The cliff face 'cross the canyon.
The sun's on me but I can see,
Rain falling with abandon.

The storm runs into peaks above,
And stalls up in the canyon.
It swirls around and splashes back,
Drops dancing all around me.

The air is filled with rainbows as,
The sun and mists they tango.
Such wond'rous beauty that surrounds,
This lake above Durango.

I saw

I saw suffering today.
It was closed, quiet,
curled up into a small ball,
dressed in thin robes.
I saw suffering today.
His big eyes
looked at me in silence
were looking for help.
I saw suffering today.
When they reached out
begging for help
and more feelings.
I saw suffering today.
And I stood looking from the side
because I was so scared
I couldn't take a step.

ON THE TELEPHONE WITH YOU

Don’t wana disconnect,
Never end this call.
You dialled up my heart’s number,
Made it beat like a dance hall,
I try to play it oh so cool
but I’m your devoted-fool
Emotions high
I just fly
everytime I’m talkin’
on the telephone with you.

In so very little time,
I’m surprised to find
You’re the first and last thing
on my mind
Wonderin’ if what you see in me,
is the same I see in you.
I can’t believe its happening
Is it really true?

Don’t wana disconnect,
Please dont end the call.
You dialled up my heart’s number,
Hit it like a cannon-ball,
I try to play it oh so cool
but I’m your devoted-fool
Emotions high
I just fly
everytime I’m talkin’
on the telephone with you.

Money

Seems not long ago I could go to a game
Give them some money
No one to blame
Now I can't because of Covid 19
This new policy seems pretty mean
You have to buy them with a smart phone
If you have only cash
You are on your own
So they have you all worked up and it's absurd
Good luck if you forgot your password
Then the electronic money you spent will be a slur
When you're trying to go see the Brewers
I spent three hours in frustration
Till finally it was done
I got the tickets at last
But I long for the past
When greenbacks were just fine
And into my seat I would recline
With Mt Dew and a plastic baseball cap filled with ice cream
I didn't care about the fans who were mean
Cause it was all so simple way back then
When I could give them a twenty, a five or a ten

Starpiercer

If all the sharp stars, fell down from up high, from spaces beyond deep blue skies...
Would you even try, to catch at least one, or stare glaring as each star dies?...
Might you doubt that I, care not for my sight, I'd stare at the sky until you...
View blue's truest blues, through night's true blue hues, bright minds sometime see more than eyes...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dark skies display stars, honed by the Sun's rays, sight gone, yet now I can see...
More clear than I ever, I pray that you never, stop shining your light down on me...
At times and on days, in ways brightly blaze, star-points pierce through the night's shades...
And I've felt the pain of your stars from the start, sharp blades fiercely pierce while they play....
