Underneath

Letters and songs I wrote them. Poems that go on and on again,
but my heart still breaks.
Showed them what I can and can't handle, so they used me like a candle, they let me burn away.
But I can't fight for this, cause this does not exist, and I know why...

Your too damned to see, the pain that lies beneath me.
You won't even dare to try, and see what's really underneath!

The innocence gone and reborn, into a statue so cold and frozen,
But I like it this way.
Scar on my back is still there, faded and worn but lies in layers,
But I love the pain.
And I can't fight for this, if this does not exist, but I know why...

Your too damned to see, the pain that lies beneath me.
You won't even dare to try, and see what's really underneath!

The love I had in my head is now lost,
words hold no meaning anymore in my heart…
I know now, the demon sleeps inside. Breathing yet I still feel dead.
Holding all that's left, drowning in you. No longer mine.
No longer alive!

Your too damned to see, the pain that lies beneath me.
You won't even dare to try, and see what's really underneath!

I'm too damned to be, loved not caged and set free.
And I don't care to try, and heal the pain that's underneath!

My Wandering Star

Once at Sixteen, I found a silver moon
Reflected at midnight upon a lake
Silver light and shadow through trees shone
The light upon each ripple shimmer made.
As if each ray could be a stepping stone
As if time now in eons did cascade -
And it is strange that I have come this far
What set this course for life my Wandering Star?

At that time I thought I saw a fancy
Or heard a ghost now shimmer through the trees -
Maybe bush spirits at midnight now were dancing
Or just a summer zephyr a warm breeze?
Something for this night was now romancing
That had so newly given my heart ease -
Something silver - peaceful - full moon beams
Caught and held my adolescent dreams.

I made my lover a bucolic charm
I kept that charm much closer to my heart
Words like a spell intended to disarm
That which spoke of poets and of art.
I look into the water now becalmed
All breeze is gone all ripples now depart -
Something sometime where we could not forsake
What started as a shadow on a lake.

So why now would I look on last night's gloom?
Tomorrow I would to you a red rose take
To light with all my light your empty room
And prove we could a lover's art retake.
There was a time, and that time came too soon
When love could no more make our two hearts quake; -
Something is now lost that was desired -
Why was this loss and heartbreak once prescribed?

For reasons we know not - nor meant to know
The Fates had put a fork into our road -
And now I've only poetry to grow
When I should have more affection showed.
It was those little things made our hearts glow -
Without them souls lie empty in abode;-
And it is strange that I have come this far -
What set this course for life my Wandering Star?

The GATE

The GATE
or Moments Reflect

When something’s worth keeping, don’t let it go
fight to retain the love that you’ve known for
when the love that you have seems faded and worn
search for its meaning where love is reborn.

For in a moment of anger, when something’s not right
surely can lead you away from the love of your life
when all pathways seem leading apart from the start
remember the gateway where you lost your heart

When turning away all that was good, seemed right
at the time, ponder this loss and the pain in your heart
if words don’t come easy, try the truth from the start
take it from me, for I lost my heart alone in such strife

I beckon you caution, firstly, please hear my words
If the love that you carry, was your reason to marry
or was it your reason to leave it, back left at the gate
swapping your loves romance for hurting and hate

I doubt that you’ve, entirely forgotten the truth
when feelings often raised, more than the roof
now, those memories linger and wont go away
simply by wishing them not to stay.

You Learn Loves meaning

Learning love’s meaning
After a while you learn, the subtle difference, between holding a hand and chaining a heart.

Then you learn that love does not mean leaning and that company doesn’t mean security and you learn that kisses aren’t contracts and presents aren’t promises.

Begin to accept your defeats with your head held up and both your eyes open with the dignity of an adult and not the grief of a child.

So you learn to build all your roads on today, because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans and futures have a way of falling down in mid flight.

After a while you learn, that even sunshine burns if you get too much.

So plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.

And you will learn, that you really can endure and that you really are strong and that you really do have worth.

And so you learn and Learn, that with every Good Bye ... You learn,

You ... learn.

Soul Mates

Soul Mate...............
Have you seen my sunsets from the other side, and the mighty gnarled and windswept coasts, who’s waves roll up the beaches and fill your heart inside, where gulls are circling overhead and you’re glad to be alive, but, something’s missing, there‘s no one there, to even share, this moment that’s arrived, and as without, whom beside, it’s gone alone, that special time, moments meant
to share, in loves embrace, that no one else will ever see, for as the sun, sets never twice the same, yet on life’s beaches there I’ll see, that loves waves keep rolling on, so my Soul Mate where ever you may be, you and I are special, linked together, you and me, as the rainbow comes with rain, I search for life and thee, my soul mate, I’ll search life’s sands forever, till no longer do the sunsets fill the heavens, or waves span the oceans wide, so, do not come and search me out, if alone, is all, you wish to be, for all else, it is foolishness, soul mate, especially for you and me,
for if it feels wrong now then it surely was never meant to be.

Orphans in the heart

I want to be alone though not forever
Retreat into my room and there think not
About my first love - a long wilted flower
And why to her that I was such a sl*t?

Is platonic love oft unrequited?
And does this kind of love in fact exist?
Though something in my soul must be misguided
For in you girl was something that I missed.

From childhood in affection comes new love
Although affection when we have it not
Will make us ever want from there to rove
A childhood lost can never be forgot.

A childhood without loves a blasted flower
That which wilts in any earth to grow
Trying in emaciated power
To feel a love that most already know.

Something in my heart will always rove
And something will forever seem so bleak
I only wish that I could come to know
A girl like you with loving soft mystique.

And if I ever met that girl I would
Hold her tight and be her everything
And if I got a second chance I should
Give her jewels and a golden wedding ring.

About this poem:
The difference between platonic, unrequited, and consummated love?
If we knew all of the differences we would be wise indeed.

RETURNING SLOWLY 2 YOU

My heart is heavy with grief,
since years of hello goodbyes,
Taunts of you don't have 1,
Place cold at nights,
Let it out your back,
As I danced in the world,
Still have not achieved,
Capturing the Holy Grail of youth,
Despite being Blue ,
Returning Slowly 2 You

No tears left to shed

You broke my heart
No tears left to shed
In the beginning
No words need be said
We felt the same about each other
Where did all this trouble come from
No tears left to shed
Could It I'm be dead
Or could it be I've been hurt
I was on a natural high
You liked to get high
The texts grew
shorter
One text per day
One phone call at 11pm
Couldn't leave the phone
Tried to call you back
Never would you answer the phone
No tears left to shed
Could I be dead
Going a month without seeing each other
My feelings turning into rubber
My brains working on overtime
I had to say here's a dime
I hope you find what it is that you want
No tears left to shed
Maybe you can find someone to share your bed
For me
consider me dead

Inspired Folly

There were those moments with you,
When I felt so totally at one,
Relaxed in the universe of your smell,
And touch and taste.
I was inside you,
Your mind, your body, your soul.
Two people could never be closer,
I could read your thoughts.
You seemed to enjoy it too,
But I guess it was the attention you enjoyed,
The fawning,
The spasms of lust,
The knowledge and control,
That you were still a woman,
With femininity,
To be desired.
It was all very ephemeral I knew,
You had notions of a God,
And a doctrine of answers,
And an intransigence of will,
And an ordered pattern,
That could not be interrupted,
Or compromised.
Sooner or later it would reassert itself.
And as much as I pleaded,
And was overwhelmed by emotion,
And wanted to believe...
It was always going to be futile,
For the plaything had lost its shine,
The power of attraction was gone.
There was no point in cajoling,
No point in words,
The uncompromising mistakes of the past,
The entrenched perceptions,
Of self were gathering like storm clouds,
The signs were there,
No point in fighting nature.
I was betrayed and cast adrift,
Perhaps at the right time,
For the water was as shallow as you,
And this was never a proper relationship,
A cat toying with a piece of string,
With a glanced hollow smile.
Farewell my dear,
It was not for the want of trying,
I could not fight your demons,
Or believe in your god.
Although we can imagine flying like a bird,
No matter how hard we flap our arms,
We will always remain grounded,
We can stretch out and touch,
But we walk in our own dust.

The title is based on Professor Higgins quote in "Pygmalion". "What is life but a series of inspired follies." From my experience...too true.
