The Call

When you called the other day
I was glad to see your face
We talked about the coming day
As I wore my best brave face

Hiding the pain of my heart
Words blurring as you spoke
Knowing we’re so far apart
Mourning the love you did invoke

I told the story of my sorrow
You listened as you always do
Not telling you of my sorrow
I saw the hurt in your heart too

Mistakes I made that broke our hearts
Leaving not speaking of my fears
Without a word I did part
Holding back the flow of tears

Is it too late, the pain too great
To be the lovers we once were
Tearing down this wall of late
Built to guard us from where we were

Can I ever tell you true
The love that I have for you?
Or must I always say to you
Words to hide my love for you?

Love Is

Love changes every day
Growing, fading day by day
Ever changing for the need
To fulfill all of our needs

Guiding us from the day we’re born
Bringing joy and also hearts oft torn
Always searching to fill the void
Left when the seed of love was born

Love fills us with comfort and desire
As we sit upon our souls eternal pyre
Leading us towards loves desperate fire
Fanning the flames of s*xual desire

Love has no barriers it must cross
Nor does it care of profit or loss
While turning our life of despair
To a life where we must care

Love isn’t all those things we fear
Love isn’t all those thing held dear
Love isn’t all those things of desire
Love just is.

About this poem:
My ex girl friend although we parted friends chose to neglect a promise made.I told her I don't think she understood love. She responded referring to the amount of time we spent together. This is an attempt to respond to that comment

What If

I saw her there all alone
Talking on her phone
To whom I know not who
As I wondered what to do

Sitting waiting for a glance
As I waited for the chance
For her to end the call
So I might climb the wall

To start the talk to open the way
To say the words I needed to say
To close the void between two strangers
That might start a new adventure

Watching, waiting for my chance
For her to escape the trance
That held her tight
While I waited long that night

Then the call did come for me to go
And board my flight I had to go
I left her behind no choice of mine
So forever will I pine

Now here I am still all alone
Oh if she had just hung up the phone
I often wonder what could have been
And if she would have ever seen

Me by her waiting as she talked
As I patiently watched and walked
Around and around her as she talked
And talked and talked

Moving On

Moving On

Lifetimes start anew each new day
Although our season ended yesterday
Friendships found will never end
And you will always be my friend

Time has come to be on our way
I've known this from the very first day
We live this life day by day
Wandering along day by day.

Moving, bending to seasons changing
We must surf the waves of changes
Growing, failing forever learning
Always searching, always yearning

Stumbling on lessons yet to learn
Choosing the path at each new turn
I wonder if you see your call
It's not what you might think at all

Do you see where you belong?
Where you will sing your life’s song.
It’s beside those you love
It’s beside those of your blood

This is where you belong
So you can sing your life’s song
Will you think of me from time to time?
Or will memories fade over time?

About this poem:
A lady I dated for about a year and a half Is moving away. She was the first lady I dated after the break up of my abusive marriage. She showed me how to love again and what love was supposed to be. Sadly i had to leave the relationship but we remain friends. I presented this to her before she left.

One Last Time

ONE LAST TIME

Gathering here for one last time.
Of laughing, singing just like before.
Remembering when we had so much time
Enjoying life and friends once more.

We could not stop the seasons passing
As we held tight to days gone by
Filled with new friends and tender feelings
We loved and laughed and we did cry.

We knew that seasons always end
We felt the change yet carried on
Having to say goodbye to friends
We grieved the day that you’d be gone

Through all those times both good and bad
We stood tall for those in need
Always strong for the friends we had
Were we those friends in dire need?

The day has come for you to leave
To that place that you did know
To begin a journey where you will weave
New and old memories as you grow.

So as you fly along life’s winding road
Making new memories and new friends
Do not forget the path once rode
When your road at last does end.

Forever your friend

Poem for Megan

For seven years I've longed for your love,
That's deep and blue as the ocean's bliss -
As winged she flies - a lonely dove -
Through the storm's eye in search of your kiss;-
No longer I'll watch the empty cove,
And dying waves that beg for a tryst -
For times tide has washed away
Each lonely year and empty day.

Till what we have now - a ghost of the past-
Though it still proves that we can hold
A sweet memory that will always last
Against these years a love untold.
I give the spring flowers a final blast -
To thaw the ice of my heart so cold;-
But the loneliness grows - a velveteen moss -
To patina the years that we both have lost.

Still my soul's tempest will not subside
An hour with you and I'd feel whole again
Loneliness drowns in the ebb of your tide
When love's quick fire burns in my veins; -
From my heart's longing I never can hide-
Though the years apart have bound us like chains;-
Where once we loved with hearts that were true -
Now loves faded rose cannot bloom anew.

The Ultimate Prize

May the winds of change
Beneath these wings
Lift me out of this range
To a new day, my heart clings

Let the good that was once
Remain stored for centuries
But casting toxins to the furnace
To be but charred memories

Yes, the sunset is looming
Time not to be squandered
Lest to a life so dooming
And to despair, surrendered

Onward to the many forays
Peeking into the unlikely crevice
The hooplas and the hoorays
Await the ultimate prize.

About this poem:
Time squandered in waiting for a lover to return.

So take the courageous step to move on in search of someone new. Time waits for no one and soon this life on earth will pass.

Hunt in the unlikely places to find new love.

Nel cuore c'è posto (music and lyrics by Franco Iurich 2018)

'Senza luce non vedi, senza me ti perdi',

ti vedrò passeggiare nell'altra sponda lontano

A Single Rose

A Single Rose in a vase,
sets upon a shelf.
Color red just for love,
for you nobody else.
It's sad to see the petals,
falling one by one.
You see the Rose is dying,
from living life alone.
I feel for that Rose,
and what it's story is about.
For like that Single Rose,
my love is left to doubt.
It's true love can come,
with such a high hard cost.
For one look into your Eyes,
my Heart to you was lost.
So come to me my Angel,
on silent fluttering of wings.
Angel don't cry on my pillow,
speak but Golden Dreams.
Heart in hand we wait for you,
with a love strong and true.
Forever shall we be here,
the Single Rose and I,we two.

Now

The setting sun caresses
curtains eyelashes
heavy from kisses
black night
insomnia.
Just like your lips used to be
and hands wading
on my body map.
Last flash of rays
drowns in hair
like your breath
on the neck, in the bend of the hand.
I don't remember now
legs and hands entwined
moments of desire
and your appetite weight.
Twilight remained
with a last sigh
singing lullaby
