Long Ago

Long ago my crown was black as time faded into yonder it turned to gray.

Long ago my heart grew fonder as I sat to ponder. Speaking your name caused me to wonder.

Long ago we sat and sang songs just to pass the day, now we sat in silence with nothing to say.

Long ago I thought you understood me and I you, breaking down the barriers has gone all wrong.

Long ago you were just like me a deserting fact from fiction but carrying a heavy load.

Long ago, as time has passed the distance don’t seem so distant as it was not so long ago.

Theses men of Berkshire

These Men of Berkshire

Dedicated to all my hunting and fishing buddies in Berkshire Massachusetts. I hope you can all still lift the fishing pole and haul the fish home to mama. The only deer you bagging now is probably already home. Miss you guys.

Blustery winds howl as snow jets to earth.
The land freezes.
Deep Winter sets in.
The only language spoken now? "Berkshire."
From rusted hook and even nail
hats of wool and Mackinaw appear
as though from fairies in the night.
Sticks, with orange flags rise up.
Bait is at the ready.
Men who speak "Berkshire" will walk on water.
They will catch the noon meal before the sun opens its eye.
On the ice they will whisper the ancient words,
the language of the fish and ponds.
And in a huddle, by a fire on the shore,
they will sing it in a silent song.
And in their silence
they are one.

Smiles

What makes you smile
Really tickles you inside
Tingles your heart
Giving emotions a start
Someone that is far away
Or someone meant to stay

Smiles produce a vast array
Causing us to sway, even pray
Like child’s play we give way
To the beauty a smile can express
There’s nothing better or the best

Smiles, fertile and worthwhile
Very different and so versatile
Softly innocent and tender
Emotions meant to engender
Hoping to invoke splendor
Sent by unknown sender
Until we surrender

Under the spell of a smile
Hoping for love worthwhile
Smiles they could beguile
Sometimes once in awhile
Take on a unique style

Can smiles really be felt
Over seas and long miles
Causing our hearts to melt
Sending much love to many
Until frowns there aren’t any

Go ahead and smile today
Feel a smile come your way
Imagine love and don’t dismay
Smiles chase your blues away
Smiles are not just cliché’
Friend, smiles are here to stay

Beware O ye gallant knights..
For there is a maiden who dwells
among us in the shadows..
Perhaps you've heard of her midnight
exploits and of her rebellious activities
spurning the authority of the king..the
King himself!
Yes, my humble subjects, you might
catch a glimpse of her on some foggy
night riding that black stallion wearing
nothing but waist length hair blowing in
the wind..
She' a rebel all right perhaps not fit
for the kingdom yet we have not seen
the likes of her since that nine year old stole
the kings crown..
Any information leading to her capture
will win you a Mac Donalds gift certificate
for one Happy meal. Bravo!

Jay

Wow
I must say
I woke up to see
a picture of he
If you could only see the glee
You brought to me
You promised me a peek
Said no more hide and seek
Made me feel week
Your smile drove me wild
You look nothing like a child
You're all man
Might need to turn on a fan
This heat I can't stand
Come hold my hand
Together let's walk this land
Hand in hand !

You make me smile
Your poertry drives me wild
I really like your style
Make sure you stick around
If only for awhile
I would walk a mile
Just to see your smile
For in you I have found a new friend

Distant Dreams. (Sonnet)

In distant dreams an angel 'oft appears,
In awe she wanders Springtime's vibrant hill,
As wild bird songs exalt with merry cheer,
'Mid lesser celandine and daffodil.

In this majestic slumber I am lost,
Her beauty fair to woo my smitten eye,
From sprouting buds 'till flowers bedecked with frost,
Her lips afar, I wish our kiss be nigh.

My minds eye sees her prance lush meadows green,
While cirrus sky beholds her countenance,
On Nature's throne, she reigns as Noble Queen,
I yearn tread yonder fields in fiery dance.

If I held all my dreams since life begun,
I'd hap'ly fling them all away... but one !
