The Snake

Like an animal
People come in many different species
One of the most feared is the snake
What holds to be true
Is you can never fear a snake
As much as a snake fears you
Slithering on the grown without its own legs to stand on
Always ready to strike to slow you on your worldly path
The snake has no ambition
Only the will to survive
And thus they continue to multiply
Don't hate a snake for its wicked ways
Just don't become its latest prey
A snake only knows what it is taught
It never learned how to have independent thought
Don't let a snake into your home
Cause where it occupies it thinks it owns
So plug those holes
Don't let them in
Cause in a snake
You'll never find a friend

message in a bottle

In a bottle the message was written
The top firmly sealed
To keep the precious words safe
And dry

Captured frozen its air sealed frozen in time
Tossed on to the floating tides and currents
Where it goes now one knows
In its floating
Carridge

At the mercy or the stormy seas
The bottle float s pushed careesed to its detination
Time has no meaning
Years it could be
To sail on the open sea

To the distant land the bottle is carried
To be seen and collected it meaning not sure
Till it message is read
Its story will not be known

Who finds this message please wite me back am your friend now and allways
write me soon

Poems from my Youth: (3) - Pen Friendship

How can our friendship grow
As we are far apart
And letters are the only means
To commune with the heart

But yet it grows
I know not how
Even as I pen these words
I sense it growing now

Even when our lives are past
Our friendship yet will last
The world of beauty has no end
With someone like you as a friend

Poet's Corner Leader Board

As I eat my bacon sandwich
I contemplate the leader board
so many jewels await me
which one shall I first peruse?
shall I take them in list order
or jump about from one favourite
to another out of so many
There's M.M a delight to read
or café so droll and clever
Spartacus's love poems
TruroRob always a surprise
dear Joy her words so fine
Chrissie with fiery words
Martina never the same
Sophia a true delight
yes these and many more
I sit and sip my coffee
knowing no matter where I start
I will have un-endless gems
to inspire me through the day

About this poem:
every day we open the leader board never knowing just what will be there. Only knowing that at least 1 poet will inspire us anew. We are so lucky to have this, just think what poets like Browning, Keats, Kipling, Bacon, Longfellow, Burns, Byron and Coleridge might have written with this inspiration the mind boggles

What is a Poem (my thoughts)

For me a poem is a thought, an idea, a feeling,
Captured in words that either rhyme or not, but that flows like
silk or water over the readers mind, dark and deep or light and uplifting, all designed to make you feel.

A Man, Woman, child, king, knight, maiden, shoemaker, dreamer, anyone who puts pen to paper and comes up with a piece that people read for me is a poet, nobody is perfect everyone is learning and improving every day, if we stop learning we die and fade away.

Every thought we are allowed to see from another mind is a precious gift of trust from that person, a glimps into their heart and mind at that second as they put it down on paper and should be treasured as such.

as I was told once 'don't be afraid to fail, be afraid not to try'

A STEP AT A TIME

For a long life's journey i met
some friends to take down the
path to unfamiliar territory.
Our road seemed so rocky YET
familiar to S O M E .
O N E step at a time.
O N E goal set in front of me.
Trying to aim for it sounded
like an impossible task.
How could what you say seem
so easy yet harder at the
S A M E T I M E .
As a group we took a
D E E P B R E A T H E
taking the journey all together
separately, reminiscing of what
we needed to work on individually.
Now at the end i see all you
wanted to do is help us to our
final destination a relationship
W I T H friends
W I T H family
possible more.
You knew we had a hard road in
store for us at this point.
Now looking back you can see
all that journey has added to
our lives and how we have grown.
Yet are we ready to stand on our
O...W...N...
That is the final question for thee?
Think about it carefully!
Then keeping that in mind
L E T go of my hand and watch
us go down life's path set
in Front of me/thee.

She's just a memory...

I saw her there
Lithe

Just standing… aloof

Entrancing dark eyes
Haunting me
Under HER roof

Looking the other way
I thought she called MY name
From that day to this
I’ve never been the same

Her sensitivity stirs
All lines are a blur
I’m awash in love’s sickness
For which there’s no cure

My strength steadily weakens
Every step she walks away
I don’t want to be without her
But I’m too afraid to say

The road that she travels
Is not like my own
Yet we’re both gypsies incarnate
With no place we call home

So how can I reach her?
How can I make her see?
There’s no one else like her
And nowhere else I want to be

Or maybe I’m too late
She’s moved along on her own
Our fate has been settled
And I’ll always be alone

This is the risk taken
If one’s priority’s in doubt
What could’ve been… isn’t
Once the end is spelled out

If our paths ever cross again
I’ll take a different approach
Be honest about my feelings
Promise to never let her go

Until then I’m free
To do exactly as I please
And I’m sad only in the moments
I relive her enduring memory

Since you came into my life

Since you came into my life
I just can't stop thinking about you
You brought a joy
I never knew was missing

Since you came into my life
I find myself smiling more than ever
I can't wait to see what surprise
You have sent by email or messenger

Be it poetry or questions
You have my world spinning
But I feel free
As if found someone just like me

You got me thinking
Thoughts I long ago forgot

I am in a daze
I am amazed
by you

It feels good
although
It is still so new

But I am thankful
That you came into my life

Streams

---- IMAGE REMOVED because photobucket.com no longer allows embedded images ----Yesterday was dark and gray and today its still the same
Tomorrow's forecast is slightly cloudy with a chance of rain
Imagine if we lived in a world where we turn on the news
Instead of something tragic it would tell us something good
But nothing is more assured than the plans devised by men
Building war machines and honoring the dead
Kindness proceeds a kind act if one passed it on and it never ends
The world isn't full of strangers just some friends we havent met
I know this could never be a perfect place and yet we still pretend
But nothing is more perfect than what we find inside heaven
One day we will all meet our maker or what ever it is that you believe
The depths may be in a ocean but it begins with a single stream
