I like it there wherever I am

I like it there wherever I am
I daydream all day of the people I would rather be around
It is a small list
Todd comes to mind
But before he got in all the trouble he is in now
I would have to go back to 1990 on him
Ted is another
Till he whacked me in the head accidentally with my own seven iron
I miss the Saturday mornings watching the Smurfs and School House Rock
I miss the Dunkin Donuts and red hot jawbreakers
I wish I was back in Yellowstone watching the geysers and hot springs
I wish I could go to Mars and have some real privacy
I wish I could go back in time when there was only 200 million people
And not the 7.5 billion we have right now
I would like to live in Norway or Canada
Where people are treated with respect
Yes, I like it there wherever I am
Because where I am at isn't too peaceful

Things I'm Gonna Do

I will go to a morel festival in Muscoda
I will watch a parade there to pass some time away
I will go to a baseball game at Miller Park
I will watch the Brewers just for a lark
I am going to Kalahari in Wisconsin Dells for free
A 250 gift card from work just for me
I will golf some here and there
I will go to some driving ranges and hit some golf balls without care
I will work the same crappy job just for the bucks
I will try not to get hurt with a little luck
I am going to visit my dad in that horrible nursing home
I will sing in my car and watch dvds in my car and write this poem

About this poem:
There are a lot of things I would do if the time and the money would come together just right. I would like to go some day to some distant land like Australia or Ireland.

Fallen

My dad fell twice in the last two weeks
Now he is at a rehab/nursing home
Will he ever come out of that awful place
Where there is no privacy
People waiting to die
Other greedy caregivers charging 5000 bucks a month
Getting rich off the misery of old people
Not being respected at a time when they should be
We have a sick devoting to youth in this culture
Billions spent making people look young
Diets of all sorts that promise the world and only take money
There are 10,000 people who turn 65 every day in this country
Where is all the money going to come to take care of them all?
And are they going to get the care they need?
Are they going to be treated with dignity and respect in their golden years?
I know a place of dignity and respect because I feel it
I also know a place that doesn't care about people because I feel that too
I've only been to this place once
I felt bad for my dad being there

About this poem:
My dad would be hunting morels right now if he had his health. I went out for a little over an hour and found nothing but an old Skippy peanut butter jar made out of glass from the 1960s.

Race

They are here
They are there
Race is this place and that place
A face is a face
There is a lot of pain with this race
If we could just love everyone no matter what
Forget about Black History Month
And why is it called history?
What about her story?
It's seem to always be dominated by his story
War and greed
For the most part are male industries
So is this whole race debate just another tool to divide people
So the rich can just gooble up even more than they deserve
Let's just forget about race
And try to make this place
Wherever it is
A place worth living in

About this poem:
I was watching Hotel Rwanda and was thinking about how differences in people can be used for some really evil atrocities.

Juice

Juice
We got enough to go around
Killings in Chicago let out a weird sound
All we have to do is understand
They are fleeing away from this land
Over 200,000 since 2005
More who choose to stay might just be choosing to die
What is the solution to all this madness
When men choose badness instead of gladness
Jobs and hope being stripped away
Replaced by dope and despair with forgotten people who pray
For a better day where this is light
Instead of running in fright
Listen to what I have to say
Kids no longer feel safe to go out and play

About this poem:
This violence is spreading instead of getting better. I know I won't be taking any trips to Chicago any time soon.
This is a parody of a song from the movie soundtrack Juice. It is about four friends and one who enjoys having the power of a gun. He is played by the rapper Tupac who was shot dead on September 7, 1996.

Driving Drunk

There are huge penalties for driving drunk
Or under the influence of a drug
Especially if it's your second offense
You have to go to jail for up to six months
Though it could be 55 days
There is the fine of over 1,000 dollars
There is the high risk insurance that could run over 100 bucks a month
You have to have an ignition interlock device installed on your car
You blow into it to start your car
Then you have to blow into it again after five minutes of driving
Then again about 30 minutes later
You lose your driver's license for one to one and a half years
If you kill or maim someone
Then you get more jail time and fines
Wisconsin is the only state that doesn't have criminal penalties for first offense
We also have a huge problem with drunk driving
Texting while driving is growing as a huge problem also

Ironically my nephew is spending his first full day in jail for driving while under the influence. He will get out around May 25. Happy April Fools!

Said the loudmouth whiners

Obama Iran
Trump Go Ban
Uncle Sam build a wall close to the Rio Grande

And watch cnn

Torture Devices

I was watching this show on the History Channel
All these different methods of torture
We have become so civilized and done away with most of them
What have we replaced them with?
Slavery in jail
Making money for companies like Victoria's Secret
40 cents an hour
Making goods real cheap
We have more blacks in jail today than were slaves during slavery times
The marriage rate was also much better during slavery times
So where is the progress really?
What is the answer if not torture or jail?
I guess I would ask Norway
They seem to have it done the right way

About this poem:
There were some pretty horrific punishments back in the old days. I wonder if it is not more cruel and unusual to separate a father from his family and throw him away in jail than the old day punishments.

Vote

Why should politics be entwined with love,
My heart is open and up for debate,
Leave your votes and polls,
Your underhanded views,
My heart is open to criticism,
Only functioning brains may apply,
Dull heart, poor brain,
The welfare in my arms,
Conjunction of love and hate,
There's no politics in my love,
No yes or no vote,
To be truly real not to appeal,
The satisfaction in one's life,
Fact or fiction love is blind,
How come I see so far,
Place my stand and cast my voice,
Listening to humble words lay,
I hear all but listen to little,
I see the mess that you make,
Cast your vote....

Hate holds me

To bring the tone and collapse the conversion,
Token of the corpse of the tongue,
Crave my dagger as I rip you a new hole,
As my thunder strikes the sun,
Bigoted minds explore my temptress of hate,
For those that I condemn and forsake,
Bring back the sword and let it lay my mouth,
As my words might disgust and brake,
Brave are the silent, the meek will rule again,
Fist before honour a deplorable conduct,
Make mistakes and pronounce me dead,
My life, my choice, your f*cked,
Deep in your foundation of your rules,
You lie to yourselves with every statement,
No notion or apprehension of the truth,
I dispose of your lifeless body in cement,
My malicious intent makes me scared,
The blood on my brow is forecast now,
In the heat I dismember your cruel,
This distaste I will not allow,
Ever in my chase of hollow charms,
I bet on my Mischievous bones,
To dismiss my partaken bite in ghosts,
I'm gonna continue my qualms in poem's.....
