A good home

In Our House...
We Are REAL....
We Make Mistake
We Say Sorry...
We Give Second Chances
We Have Fun....
We Give Hugs...
We Forgive.....
We Pray........
We Love........
We Are Family..

The Scare

I got the call
Call me said Shane
The next morning I got another call
Your Dad is in the hospital
No explanation of what was wrong with him
I called the hospital to find his room number
Found him in bed and Mom waiting with him
He had a seizure
He can't drive for six months
I ate an omelet Mom made with ham and toast
I watched the Packers beat the Cowboys with Dad
It was the first meal I had eaten alone with them in years
I felt bad
Bad for all the meals I had missed because of bad words
I got some homemade salsa from them
I got a scare
But I got some time I wouldn't have had otherwise
Time with my Dad

Black cars

Mammy is talking in half whispers why won't she let me hear,

She tells me to go out and play ,go on be a dear,

Long grey faces standing still not a pin drop

Where is daddy to take my hand now I'm feeling fear.

Mammys Lips are smiling her eyes no longer the stars,

She been that way for some time now since the day of the black cars.

Mammy I am here for you my tears dried up ive cried for two,

Allow his memory to stay but his spirit to be on its way,

I know mammy you be okay now.

Special dad

At 10yrs '' Dad, whatever.''
At 16 ''My dad is so annoying.''
At 18 '' I wanna leave the house.''
At 25 '' Dad, you were right.''
At 30'' I wanna go to dad's house.''
At 50'' I don't wanna lose my dad.''
At 70'' I would give up everything for my dad to be here right now.''

Comment and like if you appreciate and love your dad, whether he is here or not.

How Love Feels To Me

My eyes were taken back the first time I seen you

I knew you had captured my heart and soul

I wondered if you felt the same when our hands touched

How does someone explain how our heart feels

I just knew it was you as I held you in my arms

I could not believe how beautiful you were

My heart raced each time I caught a glimpse of you

Is this how love feels as though you can hardy breath

It feels as if you were a part of me and we are one

Just passing thru time like a warm breeze on a spring day

This is how love feels to me

Moving............

Heading north
time to leave this place behind
our memories are rich
no words can define
we're not saying goodbye
because it isn't the end
just saying hello
to unknown friends
our roots are buried deep
within this ground
so returning here
i'm sure we'll be found
but for now we seek
the sun and the beach
and connect with family
who've been out of reach
a new addition
a grandson too
made things easier
'twas our point of view
we packed our tunes
and our instruments too
squeezed the kids in
to experience something new
headed to Qld
the sunshine state
to open our eyes
and seal our fate..........

Candy cane

As we sit here having
Hot coco
wrapping gifts
Memories flll my head
Trimming the tree just us three
Your faces filled with with glee
You were so worried about santas cookie
You wound dance around and sing
I think you knew every Christmas carol
Every year I would ask you
To hang the candy cane
However it never made it to the tree
This happened every year
Today I asked you to hang the candy cane on the tree
Thinking it will make it to the tree
I search and search the tree I couldnt find the candy cane
I saw you out of the corner of my eye laughing at me
I was so pleased a tradition that will always be
It my be small to you
It means everything to me!

This Old House

Embedded image from another site

The old white house upon the hill
Holding past memories that linger still
Stained glass windows faced the park
Soft gaslights that shone at dark

Built at the turn of the century
In a different era from our memory
An historic legacy from those passed on
Embracing simplicity in a time long forgone

In the back a garden of Iris's grew
In the front were Lilies and Daffodils
Violets and Impatiens filled the windowsills
Adding a colored ambience to the outside view

An old wooden swing hung on the porch
A perfect pondering place perch
To watch passersby on the street below
And sip wine while you contemplated Thoreau

Days were spent engaged in a joyful family affair
With lawn games, books, wagons, trikes and bikes
Children’s giggles and laughter filled the air
Full of love and personal dislikes

Memories bring tears as they come flooding in
Visions of a life lost in the passages of time
Remembered in lines of this rhyme
All that was and could have been

Wishing for a solitary moment somehow
That it could be the past, here and now
Healing parts that need to be whole
While strengthening our souls

Lives lived in time within the muraled rooms
Looking back over the years and remembrances we own
Games played in costumes, dolls, balloons, bubbles and cartoons
The precious memories of that old house lives in our hearts as home

About this poem:
The picture is the Porter Thomsen House in Omaha NE where we raised our daughters. On Thanksgiving Day I was remembering the past and wanted to write it down and send it out to the universe through prose with love.

MY GLORIOUS CATS

MY CATS HAVE IT MADE; EVEN WHEN THERE'S NO SHADE!THEY SAID; DADDY; WE'RE TAKING THE BEDROOM, AND YOU CAN HAVE THE COUCH! I'M THINKING TO MYSELF; THAT DOES'NT SOUND TOO GOOD; OUCH! BUT YOU KNOW;THEY'RE MY LIFE! EIGHT OF THEM, HAVE QUALITIES, I'D LOOK FOR, IN A WIFE!THE OTHER TWO, ARE MALES; WHO STRUT AROUND, PROUDLY, WAGGING THEIR TAILS! MY LANDLORD, ALLOWS ME TO HAVE ONE! IF HE KNEW, I HAD TEN; HE'D PULL OUT HIS GUN! WITHOUT SKIPPING A BEAT; HE'D THROW, THIS POET, AND HIS GLORIOUS TEN; OUT IN THE STREET! I FEED THEM, TWICE A DAY; AS THEY RUN, JUMP, AND PLAY!TONITE; WHEN I CLOSE THE BEDROOM DOOR; THE'LL HAVE LITTLE TIME TO GLOAT; FOR THEY WILL SOON, FIND OUT;I HID THE REMOTE!

----N.O.W--

i was once a little kid my dreams where my life,
my haunts where my nightmares but i never dreamed of this knife,

i saw there was a chance for me to come true,
in my dreams i was forever werent you,

i never cried i never thought,
that i was a teacher that never had taught,
you looked at me like i was a present,

but that never came true,
i ended being your future,

and thats why i decided to see it through,
in my eyes you seemed like i was alive,

but that was my dream and now i have to thrive,
but never look back and always create your destiny as if it was your fate,

all this was my life that no one can debate,
im living in the now and thats reality,

so listen and learn that i was your child,
not a creature from the attic that was crazy and wild,

youve hurt my past but this is my now,
i know you love me,

but its changed my life i wont regret how,
but im still hurt inside as you can see,

i wont forget you but will you forget me!...
