The Little Things

Sometimes it is the little things that mean the most.
A beautiful sunrise on the eastern coast.
A new born babe to hold and love.
A night with twinkling stars above.
Sitting here with you.
Thinking of all we have been thru.
Knowing no one else has been with me.
As long as you have been there.
It hurts me to think.
Of life sometimes so unfair.
I wish you could spread your wings and fly.
Go see the things I have before you die.
We're not getting any younger.
And I still face life with such hunger.
I don't understand what happened to you.
I was there I had the same childhood too.
I chose to take the best.
Leave the negativity to rest.
I know there is a part of us that is the same.
When I told you of a happy memory.
I could see your smile.
Something we both had not thought of in a while.
Just a simple little thing.
Not thought of at the time.
Joy now it brings.
All the money you can have.
But something's just can't be bought.
A beautiful rainbow in the sky.
Open land and fresh air.
Smell of fresh cut hay.
Sometimes life is just not fair.
Don't let that thought get in the way.
Take what you have and make it work.
Learn in life to make a garden with your dirt.

About this poem:
Went to breakfast with my sister and could not help but to think how different we turned out to be when our childhood was the same. And how different our outlook was on the life we have now and the life we had. Why did everything that happened to the same two people not affect us the same?

Simple Little Thing Called Family

I'm looking out the window.
Looking at a life that's passing me by.
Wanting to escape from myself.
A place where I want think anymore.
You don't understand why.
You would like to feel like you've even the score.
I can't even cry.
If you would like I'll say you won.
Just leave me and close the door.
I just want to fly high.
Up in the sky and feel the morning sun.
Soar like a bird all so free.
Out the window is where I wish to be.
Seems like someone's always needing something from me.
And I feel I have given all I have to give.
Seems like I have been born in the wrong time and place.
It seems like someone has come a long and erased.
The way that things were meant to be.
Changed all of humanities priorities.
No longer are families close.
Trust is just another word for saying weak.
Don't you see we've made a wrong turn.
I really want the life I seek.
Why do people not just learn?
When it is all said and done.
Family is all you really have.
The one thing most come in this world with.
The one thing most leave behind.
So why can't they find the time to love.
Why must everything be put above?
A simple little thing called family.

FAMILY ( All rights reserved) R.B.

A family is about love and respect,Lots of cuddles and pecks on the cheek,Communication is an important key,So is caring and sharing within the family,Family is about laughter and fun,Going to the beach,Making sand castles,Playing ball in the sun or just watching tiny crabs on the run,Family is about growing but having our differences too,Somethings are said that may upset you,The important issue is that the hurt is let out without having to scream or shout,Family is forever even after death do we part,Family i love,You will always stay close to my heart.Written By Robyn Bashford,Written on 15.8.2001. life's pram

perpetually pushing perambulators
can be the effect of licentious satyrs

kids, children, progeny, the like
a boy, a girl, a toddler, a tyke

can fill up nights and days as well
with incessant demands as kids rebel

forever pampering the coddled child
will make man or woman increasingly riled

launched offspring like springs to return
to cause their parents some measured concern

so beware your actions that carry the day
lest life for you change in a significant way

No Strings Attached

To every tear I might ever wipe away, to every hug and every kiss,
to every moment that I spent with you or a moment I may ever miss,
to every smile you've ever smiled at me in ways only you could do,
to every kind wish you have ever made and felt I'd made come true,
to advice I may have given and you've felt it coming from my heart,
to times I've held your hand to get you through the toughest part,
to every bit of laughter I may have brought you to lift your day,
to every moment you ran into my arms and never chose to run away,
to each and every moment I was there to catch you when you'd fall,
to every time I might have been ready to answer in case you'd call,
I say it's because I love you with no strings attached to my heart,
without you here in my life I'd be missing a most important part..

My Mom

She grew up in depression days,
But never was depressed.
Her mom was just fifteen when she,
Was with a daughter blessed.

Her father was a careless sort,
Who merely walked away.
They grew up then together through,
Those harsh and trying days.

A singer with a big band while,
The war raged 'cross the sea.
Then married an enlisted man,
With Allied victory.

He was a mean, obnoxious drunk,
She loved him anyway,
So did her best to make a home,
And keep the beast at bay.

Five foot two with eyes of blue,
Described her to a tee.
Small pckages contain big things,
She'd love enough for three.

No fainting violet was she,
A scrapper through and through.
And fire shot out from those eyes,
If she was mad at you.

But mostly she was patient and,
A gentle, loving soul,
Who taught us well and raised us right,
And kept the family whole.

She's been gone 'most twenty years,
When cancer dropped its bomb.
But I still hold her deep inside,
She'll always be my Mom.

The Bright Red Train

The Bright Red Train

With unbelieving eyes, though it was a glorious day,
I saw a bright red train quickly pass along my way.
At the very first sight of it, the likes I’ve never seen,
I couldn’t help but wonder where the hell’s it been?
It wasn’t until later I thought, where will it now go,
I think I should have followed, now I’ll never know!

Untitled

-And you said,
"What if he's deceased?
At least you'll know."
Rushing off to work.

My mind
flashed a full scene
of southern sunlight
on my face.
You shut the front door,

and

I sat in front of a tombstone.
Maybe in Kentucky.
Not reading a name,
or anything ingraved.
Just thinking of what I might say
to my father.

Neutral thoughts
shake bitterness
from an unshaken hand;
and I peer into a tombstone,
same as I might peer
into the void of someone's eyes.

"All my life I've seen you in the mirror.
Never, have I seen your face.
do you know what one picture
could have done,
for one man-
Your son!"

About this poem:
I've recently found my father at the begining of my 3rd decade of life. The first thing I asked him for is a picture. He hasn't read the poem yet.

just me

you see me
when the fairies hum
drunk on dew and song
you hear me
when moonbeams play
spider's drum night long
you feel me
when trees can't resist
to dance on bare feet
- that is,
if you still
have not forgotten
the elvenfolks among us
