you would smile a lot more… Part III

“…if only you knew who you were, if only you knew what was in store for you, you would smile a lot more…”

Part III

As you may imagine, the litany went on and for how long, we know not…,
Finally, when we were totally spent and were in a zombie-like state,
Instinct took over, I lifted my daughter in my arms and carried her to the car,
Slowly, surreptitiously the spirit of the divine began to seep back into us, and to enliven us…,
As if some heavenly force were moving me, I drove to our favourite restaurant, were we wolfed down the most delicious Belgian waffles layered with maple syrup, disguised as the spirit of god, I’m sure…

Soon after, Africa began to do its healing work,
My daughter fell madly in love with a wonderful young man,
Who has given her another most beautiful baby girl,
Both their careers took off, they now live on an enchanting Mediterranean island,
And I am blessed enough to be able to behold their radiance,
Although, my trained healer’s eye, can sometimes see the sheen of sadness beneath the sparkles that reflect off my daughters’ diamond eyes…

“…if only you knew who you were, if only you knew what was in store for you, you would smile a lot more…”

SPIRIT LEVEL

When you are annoyed, or cry, or have a row…..
It Laughs!
When you have loads of energy, want to do something big,
It Sleeps!
When you are laughing, very happy…..
It Cries!
When you are exhausted at the end of your day,
It wants to play!
When you are on cloud nine……
It brings you back down to earth!
In the future, it will stretch your bank account and your credit,
It will show you new boundaries of pride, happiness and grief!

For now though, it’s quiet in it’s cot…..
You just sit mesmerised, watching it breathing,
The most wonderful thing in your life……
Sleeping at last…..To your relief!

shadow of darkness

Do you miss me through the shadow of darkness, I can see you but i'm blinded by our love, things that i do take for granted by one should always be appreciated.

Our love was strong but now that we're apart all the memories are always there, locked up inside of deep emotion i wonder what will happen to us. I've been hurt so who do i learn to no and trust, draws like a magnet to each of us deviding two worlds apart through the power and strength of love.

What direction shall i follow will it be the right or wrong there is only one past way to choose.

Desertion

Despondent, she creaks to and
fro, to and fro, upon the
porch, her bony hands stroking

the tomcat curled in sleep on
her lap. Hours it's been since
he left. Stealing under the

branches, dark with bats, rowing
across the river, its cold
surface flecked with scum, he'll

be in the city while she, creaking
to and fro, to and fro, beholds
the raw red face of dawn.

"Do What Makes Your Heart Sing"

"Do What Makes Your Heart Sing" - Jan 17, 2010
Jim Magee - Poet of the "Common" Man
Dedicated to Gina Lake

I was reading a book from a downloaded site
And a phrase jumped in front of my eyes
Nothing like this ever happens by chance
And that's something you must realize
The phrase of which I'm speaking about is
"Do what makes your heart sing"
It struck me as odd but just temporarily so
And I wrote a poem that said the same thing

But then I thought to myself - that's not really so strange
But it is something most folks never get
That they could make a living doing something they love
And not have even one ounce of regret
Kids never get that thought taught to them
It's "Go out and find a real job!"
And I thought the fact they paid money to you
Was proof enough, you didn't rob

It's hard changing peoples perception of things
That's been drilled into them most of their life
Even the fact of you're free to choose
Will fill many souls up with strife
They can't believe it's as easy as that
There's got to be some part that's missing
It might be the part with you and your love
Locked together out back, madly kissing

Just do what you want and don't worry about planning
Planning's when #1 doesn't work
And #1 always works just the way that it should
It isn't just some lucky quirk
Always remember to teach - Teach your kids to be proud
Be proud of what-ever they bring
And the thing you should stress from the day that their born, is to
"Do What Makes Your Heart Sing"

My DAD

My brain explodes!it fills with fluids that I don't know
My body wilts my heart it tilts,a blackness an episode.

YOU STUPID STUPID STUPID MAN I SAY,WHY DON'T YOU EXIST TODAY
YOU WERE MY HERO, I HATE YOU,I HATE YOU,YOU DID NOT STAY

I love you as today,I was bad no need to say
My son, my son the time has come,I must leave to join the Son!

MY DAD, MY DAD, I WAS SAD,YOU KNOW YOU WEREN'T SO BAD
I TOLD MY BOYS YOU WERE MAD,JUST LIKE ME AND THEY ARE GLAD!

My Birthday

Yes it's my birthday,what a great day,

Every year different and this is no play

I invited close friends and cooked up a feast

The talk was good as it should be music by Karen Carpenter

The mood was set friends my boys and good cheer

The one thing missing is you my sweet dear

All have gone now except my dreams

The day when we have no fears just you and I

Grandma and Her Hero

She walked with beauty and elegant grace,
but sadness worn on her lovely face.
The years had passed that brought her joy.
And a glow that burnt so long ago.
A memory so dim, of how her heart was won.

He was always full of joy,
A joke and a laugh,
And hands that knew a metals worth and how to bend it to his will.
I knew him not but in stories only,
of how he spoke in earnest with rare and even temperament.
Who knew his time was short?
That time would come and go
And leave only scars and distant laughter spent.

But this was a love story true and real,
I know because she told me.
She was the storyteller, the one who cried the tears.
Who told of listening to the music he would play and tell me of how she danced with him.
Though the years have past and so has she, I remember and so must we.

Bury Me

Bury Me
by me
jimmy v

if this is the path i choose,
if this is the road i take,
if these are the mistakes i make,
just let me make them.
let me fall,
let me cry,
let it hurt till i wish to die.
then, let me learn...
let me see through my own eyes,
let me bleed it out for a while,
let me fight with denial,
just let me live.
i need space,
i need air,
just please stay back there.
but, watch me live...
don't make me you,
don't force it through,
don't feed me the same shit life fed you,
please let me go.
let me walk,
watch me fly,
if it is then let me live the lie.
then, watch me die...
remember the person,
remember the fun,
remember the days till the last one is done.
don't morn me,
be happy for me,
be proud of me,
don't ever shed a tear for me.
then... bury me.

Little Dress

Your little dress
is flowing downTo little toes
that will be growing into feet.
And will walk away from me
When you are older.

I cant live with this feeling
Of you getting older
And going out into this world alone
And I cant protect you
From all of these dangers
Oh how do I let you go?

Your pretty hair
Is curling around your little face
That will be growing into you.
And will be changed By makeup and age
When you are older

I cant live with this feeling
Of you getting older
And going out into this world alone
and I cant protect you
From all of these dangers
oh how do I let you go?

Your wedding veil
is falling down to shoulders
That I will use to cry on after this
I have you arm and arm and I see
That it is over

Oh I cant live with this feeling
Of you getting older
And going out into this world alone
And I cant protect you
From all of these dangers
Oh how do I let you go?

Oh I know
No matter how old you get
I will always be your daddy.
