' Grandma Bertie"

“Grandma Bertie”

I see her in the sunlight
On a bright, clear, day
I see her milking cows on
A farm in her younger days,

I see her in the sunlight
In her kitchen making bread,
Chasing 17 children who’s
All wanting to be fed.

I see her in the sunlight
With the church doors open wide
I can hear her singing hymns
Like the sweet by and by

I see her in the sunlight with
Grandpa Alston by her side.
Their hair is turning grey now
With lots of Grandchildren
About 105

I see her in the sunlight at
Her home on Butterbean Ridge
She took in a dog named Racheal,
And was really glad she did

I see her in the sunlight sitting
Alone in her rocking chair
Grandpa Alston passed away now,
It’s been about 6 years.

I see her in the sunlight feeling
Tired and all worn out. She say’s
My children, I feel soon I’ll no
Longer be about.

I see her in the sunlight. Again
The church doors open wide. Her
Sons are carrying their mother
Through the church doors one
Last time.

I see her in the sunlight with a
Heavenly Glo on her face.
She says if anyone to join me,
God’s Path they must take

I’ll always see her in the sunlight,
On a bright or cloudy, in the
Wind,snow or rain. She’ll
Always be in my Heart to stay.

One Good Family

Have you got, just what it takes,
To pass lifes test of faith ?
The stakes are high, the pot is full,
Now judgement day is apon us all.

Countless failures may cross our way,
To try and lead us all astray,
But only those who persevere,
Obtain the dreams that they desire.

Faith is the path we have to take,
Love is the key that'll open the gate,
Positive thoughts in a heart of gold,
Ensures the dream can truely be yours.

One good family, is all it takes,
To save the worthy human race,
From falling from our Lord God's grace,
Before He decides, just who He takes.

When the mind, body and soul,
The gift He gave us all,
Are correctly used, and not abused,
Will truely ensure, our ultimate reward,
Ever lasting life, the dream of us all.

About this poem:
I feel life on this planet is all about different tests that are sent to test us from God and how we deal with them as to whether or not God takes us under his wing after we pass on and of the people around us as to the help and guidence they supply to see if they are a genuine member of Gods family by the assistance they give us.
The human race can only enter Gods kingdom if we all pull together and treat one another as part of one family and so I believe that life here is just one big test for us all before we can enter the Kingdom Of God.
Sounds like I am a bible basher but truth is I am not, but do believe in treating others in the same way as I would like to be treated and that we are all one family who must interact and do Gods work to help each other pass the tests that God has set us in order fo the ultimate reward...ever lasting life.

growing with age

night is full of all demise as day is when our sun goes away,
as a baby life doth interest as a teenager i wish it died,
adulthood brings such surprise from boredom to the great highlight,
wisdom doth come my young friend with the sunset of the beach light,
with waves that settle ones mind as the thought of the mist that
will arise upon the oceans head,
the air that cleans our systems out and heals our body well being,
a move a job even friendly face of a stranger not known before could
make that change that helps us to grow,
mistakes interrupt our path but repair is due and near when we are free,
freedom comes with wisdom and mind and wisdom and mind comes with
growing up,
most off all a smile a day will help us handle our great growth and a good will will help us gain knowledge from one whom might know,
young and old we will survive and we will grow with age.

Handmade Love

Making special presents
for Christmas this year.
Making it with love
to show you care.
Giving you my feelings
in each and every stitch.
Letting you know
you are on my mind
now and all the time.
Showing you the love
in this special way.
Hoping you love this
each day, appreciating
it in each and every way.
For this is only for you.
This is the true blue
meaning of Christmas
FAMILY
FRIENDS
love them to the end.

Mama

Here I Sit Looking Back Into Time, And How I See
Mama Raising Three Little Kids.

I Can Still See Her Working Until Her Hands
Would Bleed.

But Mama Don't You See, How Time
Is Changing Each And Everyday!

Now You Have Raised Me To Be
A Fine Young Man, And Mama I Still See You
Lifting Me When I Have Fallen And Hurt My Knee's
And How Your Gentle Touch Of A Hand Would
Ease The Pain.

But Now Mama That All Lay's In The Past
Mama I Love You So, But With Each New Day It Becomes
Harder To Show, But Everywhere I Go You Are Always In
My Heart And Soul!

Mama You Have Brought Me Into This World
And You Always Gave Me A Wonderful Home Filled
With All The Love And Joy, You Are Always Near
When I Need You The Most, Even Now As A Men
You Still Know How To Dry The Tears That
Drown The Sparkle From My Eyes!

And Mama I Know Through The Years There
Has Been Many Times I Have Hurt You And Made You Cry,
But In Your Heart You Have Always Found A Way To Forgive.

Because Mama Now I Know That Your More Then Just A Person
For You Are An Angel Sent From Our Lord Above, For There
Will Never Be A Mama Better Then You!

About this poem:
I Wrote This Poem Way Back In 1992, Just For My Loving Mother
Who Was Always Near When She Was Needed Most, And Even Now When I Need Her Most, And I Am Feeling Sad Or Blue
I Just Need To Pick Up The Phone, And Give Her A Call
She Always Knows Just The Right Thing To Say To Bring A Smile Back And Help The Sadness Go Away!

South Carolina

South Carolina
is where my heart is
it's where I grew up
it's where I raise my kids
South Carolina

Can't think of a place
that I would rather be
it's where I was born
it's always been home to me
South Carolina

Sometimes I need a change
My heart goes astray
I feel like taking off
I feel like getting away
but,my home town calls
then I'm back on my way

Time is moving ever so fast

Time is moving ever so fast
turn your head
to the left to the right
hurry make everything right
because your life will not
last and last
time is moving ever so fast
what time is it?
The last person ask
as I wait for things to
come to pass
Iv already wasted
the time , so they say
time is moving ever so fast
I walk the floors
worrying about
how long will my life will last
but before I know it
death has already come
and just yesterday I
thought I pray Iam not
the next one
time is moving ever so fast
so make the best of it
be kind and try to have a blast
watch your words you say
they could be your last
because time is moving ever so fast
kiss your babys
hug your mama
tell your dad you love him
make love to your mate
you never know it may be to late
say your sorry
find a friend who is true
there not much time and there
there so much to do
Because time is moving ever so fast

"Grand" Parents

All for the love of grandparents,
I'd give up my latter days,
and go back to the time that once was so fine,
eating supper on T.V. trays.

Always in the way when Grandpa was gardening,
I was really just trying to assist.
He never knew it, but, I once threw a tomato
at him and it's a good thing I missed.

Grandma's the best cook that I've ever known.
Her Thanksgiving meals were a shocker.
I used to wonder if, out of disguise,
she might really be Betty Crocker.

The spanknigs I got never seemed to hurt long,
for I knew their love was still there.
My grandparents are living tributes
to grandparents everywhere.

I could go on writing about them for years,
finding nothing but good to say.
But, these few verses should help you to grasp
the message I'm trying to convey.

My grandparents are the greatest.
And, in my book, none can compete.
For they are the grandest grandparents
you'd ever chance to meet.

About this poem:
I came from a broken home and was thrown from pillar to post. I would stay with an aunt and uncle for a time. Then with a lady-friend of my dad's. But the best time of my life growing up was when I got to stay with my grandparents.
The part about the tomato is true. My grandpa would sometimes take a salt shaker with him in his shirt pocket when he went out to tend the garded. He'd pick a tomato, lick it and then sprinkle salt on it and eat it. Well, "monkey see, monkey do"! One day he went to the garden and I followed. I started eating cherry tomatoes. He noticed and said, "Hey! Stop eating the tomatoes". I replied "But, you eat them all the time!" And Grandpa said "You just wait for supper". So, I still had one cherry tomato left in my hand. And, he made me angry with his one-way business,so, I hauled off and threw that tomato at him whilst he was bent over. The tomato just missed hitting him in the head by an inch or so. I got so scared at the thought of what would have happened had I connected, that I almost peed my britches.
