Merry Christmas! Not a Poem.

It's been a while since I dropped by. Christmas time often stirs deep seated feelings. It can make you cry for no reasons or reminds you of a few cherished moments. For me it always makes me long to be home with my family. So almost every Christmas I have gone home to NZ where my people are and now and then my beloved husband would join me like he did last Christmas! I love sharing moments with him; I believe going away together is the highlight of any marriage because it enables a couple to create memories they can look back to later in years. Moments on the road with my hubby means a lot, you can learn a lot about each other when you have to rely on each other.

We decided to stay home this Christmas so we can recharge our batteries before going back to work. That's the plan! We'll soon see! I'm not very good at staying home, I'm a wanderer and born with a pair of itchy feet. Life's too short and there's a big beautiful world waiting to be explored.

CS-PC was like my second family. So each Christmas I try to drop by and say hello to old friends and new people in the corner! Now and then when NU remembers to tell me he posted a poem or when I find time or can't sleep... I'd come and have a read and noticed that there are still many of the poets I knew when I use to be part of this family.

To Socrates, Steve1223, Rob (trurorob), elo69, Candy Kid, Joy, Kathy (US), Kathy (NZ), Redex now ExRed, Marikia, Soulgoddess, Yankee, Jimee, Abby, Morgen from Singapore, Happy C, QSF and our good friend Phyllis and of course Nuwahri61 and others I can't recall at the moment....I just want to wish you all the very best this Christmas!

The same goes to a few new poets whose poems I have come across while browsing.. like Yaspark ( haven't read all your poems but I like the ones's I've read) ... and then there's Salamuna or Lilly from Holland. I remember there was another Lilly before NU had amongst his female poet friends ...could it be you?

Read most of your poems, Nu seems to have commented on most...I know he doesn't very often comment, it is quite awesome when he does! I can only say... reading between the lines ... You shared lovely comments... what a nice way to inspire another poet. I can so relate to how nice or awesome it feels when you find that fellow poet who gets you. It's been donkeys years since that happened to me ?? ?? Thank you for sharing your stories and inspiring other poets in this corner. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas! Always wanted to come and see the Floriade but each time I attempt.... something always happens. I missed out again last time. I think the next one is in 2022. If I'm still around...maybe?

It's always an awesome feeling each time I drop by to see familiar faces, read from familiar poets but just as awesome to find new faces who are instantly dear to the rest of the CS-PC family. Variety they say makes things interesting!

Although I have made a conscious decision not to spend a lot of time here (a promise made when we got married); if and when I find a bit more time in the near future I might still come and pour my heart out now and then... I am not an educated poet so I only mostly write free verse poetry organically from the heart.

I will always be grateful to Bill and Macduff. Inspired by their brilliance I managed to pen my one and only sonnet.

Lastly I would like to say thanks to CS...and the Poetry Corner for without it my husband and I would not have met. I prayed for a simple man and a simple life and God granted it hence I will always be grateful!

May the blessings of Christmas be with you all and your families! I wish everyone all the very best for 2019...may you continue writing awesome poetry that non-poets like me can come and find inspiration from all year through! May those of you still seeking for that special one eventually find it. God bless you all! ??????

Rudolph Retold

Hey Firesnoze!
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer! Ha! Ha! Ha!
Stop calling me names!
Doner, you should be ashamed of yourself!
Letting that freak go out in public!
Remember guys we're not gonna let some freak reindeer
play any reindeer games, right?
So Rudolph was shunned by everyone
Except Hermee who wanted to be a dentist
Clarice the hot doe and Yukon Cornelius
Rudolph never got to guide Santa's sleigh
And he never got the respect of his parents or anyone else
Rudolph grew to hate the reindeer
But especially Santa who could have made everything alright
So Rudolph went to a gun shop downtown
And got a lot of ammo killing everyone
But Clarice, Hermee and Yukon who found silver and gold
And helped Rudolph and Clarice have new reindeer
To guide Yukon's sleigh
Hermee fixed all their teeth
And everyone lived happily ever after
The end

~ Snow Crystals ~

~ Snow Crystals ~

Snowflakes Heavenly sent

Whispering their way thru the air

Flaking their whiteness upon the ground

With their lacey white beauty being spread around

Specking the land with it’s whiteness bright

Turning the ground into a snowy delight

Crystal dew droppings from the sky

Whitening the ground for you and I

Snowflakes magically floating in air

Makes us wonder if Heaven’s Angles are also there

Quietness, ecstasy and beauty too

Sending Santa’s message to you

Peace upon earth and mercy mild

To all it’s good people, he has a message for you

God Bless you ~ one and all ~

Merry Christmas

I wish I had a snowflake net
to take a snowflake crystal home

Santa Claus

Santa Claus
Give me a porche with automatic transmission
Give me a house out in the country
So I can sing as loud as I want and not disturb my neighbors
Neighbors who live only feet away from me in my shabby apartment
Give me a perfect swing
So I can make nine million dollars playing against Tiger Woods
Santa
Give me a lifetime supply of preshucked Alaskan King Crab
With real melted butter from Wisconsin
Santa
If it's not too much trouble
Give me the ability to eat and drink anything I want and not gain weight
Also I would like to have the ability to fly like Superman and have his powers
I would also like to have a gorgeous woman like Wonder Woman
Gwen Stefani or Lady Gaga or Lorde would be fine too
Santa
Last but certainly not least I would like everyone to be happy
Have good free health care
Have loving relationships with their friends and family
And be paid a good wage and work only 40 hours a week
Thankyou Santa
Love,

Mike

Fireball's Diary Entry

What a day of practice we had
Turns out my buddy Rudolph is a freak!
He has this huge glowing red nose
It's a real shame too
Cause that reindeer could really fly!
But Santa doesn't want him around any more that the rest of us
I really liked it when Santa scolded his father
Telling him he should be ashamed of himself
He should be ashamed!
Probably ate too much of that illegal lichen
Everybody knows if you eat too much of that crap your kids will come out goofy
My dad never ate that crap!
And look at how awesome I look!
Except for the red hair I'm pretty handsome
Well, I'm looking forward to tomarrow
Practicing running and jumping into the wind and shaming Rudolph!

~ Happy Holidays ~

~ Happy Holidays ~

The Autumn leaves are now on the ground

Soon the snow flakes there will be found

Whitening it up with wind blown snow drifts

Ground covered earth embraced
with snow flake kisses

Wind will blow and howl outside

Logs will crackle and burn bright

Stay inside as it will be cold tonight

Soon the turkey dinner will be here to enjoy

Then on Christmas Dear Santa will appear

All dressed up in his Red and filled with cheer,

We will dream of Christmas, while we are in bed!

Holidays are wonderful to spend with you,

To spend them with family and our friends too ~

~ Thanksgiving ~

~ Thanksgiving ~

Thanksgiving a day of remembrance
of golden days passed bye

Prayers of Thanksgiving, that your living family
is in good health and prayers for the remembrance of our dead

Memory of the years passed bye and of future one’s of enjoyable times

Aroma of Thanksgiving holiday cooking
floating thru out the house

Saying a Thanksgiving’s prayer,
so that we can dig in to a holiday dinner that’s awaiting us there!

Bountiful turkey surrounded by good people and sumptuous Thanksgiving food!

~ May God Bless every one ~

~ A Family Get Together ~

~A Family Get together ~

May your Thanksgiving day
bring your family closer together

The warmest of feelings towards everyone there,
near or far

Enjoyment of the Thanksgiving feast,
From the carving of the Roasted turkey to the
whip creamed minced pie ~

Cranberry stuffing, whipped mashed potatoes
with mushroom gravy,
green salad w/dressing, squash soup,
red beets & green beans,
candied sweet potatoes,
hot biscuits with butter that melts
in your mouth.

Cakes and berried deserts,
apple & minced pie,
with heaping of whipped cream piled up high ~

Wishing one and all at Connecting Singles
An enjoyable Thanksgiving Day!

~ Scary Halloween ~

~ Scary Halloween ~

‘Twas the night of nights!
“All Hallows Eve”

The midnight screeching of owls
could be heard warning of Grave Robbing & noises
that go bump in the night and of heinous atrocities!

‘Twas the boundary between the Living & the Dead
when the Ghosts of the dead returned to ravage the living!

The peasantry often wore costumes some consisting of animal heads & skins to ward off and appease the evil Ghosts and to accept the cold approaching winter weather.

Young women dressed up as saints or she devils
and often would try to cast spells on unmarried men
with the intentions of getting married in the future ~ Oh! Those scheming unscrupulous women! Lol

People wore Halloween masks not to be recognized by any encountered ghosts! Breaking glass & stepping on cracks or spilling salt brought seven years of bad luck!

One had to fear black cats on Halloween as they were
instruments of witches bringing bad luck to all that the cats crossed their paths with ~

Beware the Red-headed witch riding on her broom-stick! Dressed up in a Leopardess costume flaunting her bodice and shooting cupid’s bow! She will take you to her castle in the sky! You have been warned ~

Ghosts

I remember my sister having to move out
Of that farm house, it filled her with doubt
Seems an old man had died there after living there most of his life
He wanted the house to himself, he didn't even have a wife
What a lonely ghost he must be
But some prefer solitude to fill them with glee
So he would watch her when she would dream
He scared her away wanting to make her scream
Then there's the ghosts at the manufacturing place where my friend works
The building dates back the late 1800's
Seems they died at work making bowling alley parts
When that press came down on him it sure did smart!
So now and then they'll turn off a light or turn on a radio
Even make my friend wonder where did my bicycle go?
These ghost like to play pranks, but it's solitude they seek
They're tired of all the workers and my friend the geek
But soon next year the building will be torn down
Where will they haunt then, what aisles will they go down?
When it come to witches, warlocks, and ghosts
It's ghost I love the most!
