Waiting to hear from the dog-sitter

Trouble with taking in a rescue dog, especially a neurotic older rescue dog, is that she hates kennels. She thinks she's been dumped again, she goes into a decline, she loses weight and fur, and for 3 days after I come home she leaps to her feet every time I move, won't let me out of her sight, and does the whole Camille bit when I go to work - paw to her forehead, sagging limply against the wall -

Drama queen of note. Don't know where she gets it from. I blame the French bulldog side of her breeding. The other half is English bulldog, which means she looks French but twice the size - weighs 40 lbs and has a chest like an all-in wrestler.

So no more kennels. I have a dog-sitter who comes to the house instead. Well, I have a few in my little black book. People don't queue up to take care of a sweet little dog with unexpected steel jaws who has been known to bite first and ask questions afterwards when they enter the house. I've sent texts to them all and am waiting patiently for replies. So far one has a wedding (not her own, but she still doesn't want to cancel, I asked) one would have LOVED to but is painting her nails all next weekend, and one said no, that I had a cheek asking, and talking of cheek, the spot still hurts in cold weather and had I noticed how cold it has been lately?

Still waiting to hear from my dog's personal favourite, a strapping young lass with a crewcut, booming voice and tattoos. My dog adores her, and is adored in turn. Well, who wouldn't love that face?

Your Profile And You

Does your profile reflect the way you see yourself or the way other people see you? If you think that it is the same thing then you have another think coming. You are only who you think you are if most other people more or less agree with that view.professor

When you look in a mirror you only see what you want to see. Other people do not see what you see when you look in the mirror. And they do not notice the same things about you. Some will find certain characteristics more important than others. The things that you deem as important may be completely overlooked by them.mumbling

You may stand proud because of your honesty, but it is not written on your forehead. The fact that you never lie or cheat may go unnoticed to some. Your high morals may be taken for granted and they will be quick to notice your flaws while others may stare themselves blind into your virtues and not notice your shortcomings.uh oh

Some 20 years ago I asked a number of friends and family members to assess me and to write down my strong and weak points in order of importance. Both genders were represented and their ages varied from sixteen to seventy. I was about forty five at the time. I made a similar list.writing

It was an eye-opener. It revealed strong points (important to them) that I did not rate as worth mentioning and weaknesses that I was not aware of. Some of the points on my list appeared nowhere while some only showed up with the younger bunch and other traits were noticed only by the older people. The most similarities were among people of more or less my own age group.shock

So what was the purpose of the exercise? Well, it did give me a few things to work on.grin

You may believe that what other people think of you is not important, but if they see you vastly different than what you see yourself then you are mispresenting yourself.scold

So, I ask again. Who is represented in your profile? Is it the you that you see in the mirror or the you that other people see?dunno

Not that it is important, I just wondered.playball

See, the weekend has arrived. Enjoy it!wave

PS
I cannot find the word 'mispresenting' in any dictionary. I nevertheless used it in my blog because I cannot think of a better word. If anybody can suggest the proper word, I'd be very grateful.help

The art of being humble ...

I had been busy recently, consequently I did not partake in too many blogs. However, I do enjoy peeking in once a while to see if my favourites are still here. I also enjoy reading some of the profiles.

Quite often I see comments, blog writings and even profiles flaunting how successful, beautiful and even intelligent some members claim to be. That could be true, however it is a real pity that all these wonderful people should be stuck somewhere in something, looking for affirmation on a free chat/dating site and that from people they most probably will never meet.

The challenge in life is to value our successes, intellect and beauty as blessings, without constantly creating a subjective base of what is good or not good enough. To all the people on this site who manage to remain humble, allowing space for different opinions from people with different backgrounds (as typical expected on this free site), a sincere thank you...bouquet

Why Doesn't Anybody Ever Help?

One of the main reasons why I started blogging, was to improve my English. Reading English is not enough. Sadly, my English did not improve in any significant way since starting to blog because nobody ever corrects my mistakes.blues

Ok, I know that you never start a sentence with certain words like ‘and’ & ‘but’. I purposely ignore that rule because I write as I speak. However, I have many other problems with my grammar and syntax. A good vocabulary and accurate spelling is not everything.dunno

I’m sure that I won’t bite if somebody helps me right in a nice way. Hans4711 once helped me right and he is still alive.laugh

I don't say that we must start an English teaching campaign, but I think there may be more people around who will appreciate a little nudging from time to time.idea

The Myth Of On-Line Friends

The definition of friends differs vastly on-line when compared to real life. On-line friendship appears to be a pseudo relationship that will last for only as long as it is beneficial to both parties and what may appear to be your best friend today, may become a sworn enemy overnight.confused

The farcical relationship between two on-line friends displays a zero tolerance to the imperfections of the other parties. It will only survive for as long as you tickle the ears of your on-line friends. Friendship in real life is much more robust and resilient against differences in opinion or views while minor squabbles are laid to rest so much easier.handshake

On-line friendship is volatile and turbulent; it needs something to feed on. We strive to say what pleases our on-line friends, in fact we try so hard to sound politically correct to our friends that don’t say what we really mean; all in an effort to preserve the friendship, but it real life we’re not scared of such issues and such frail friendships are not even worth mentioning.snooty

Friendship on-line is an illusion. In real life, you won’t even count cyber friends as acquaintances; simply because you don’t know them. Yet, we call strangers our friends while we don’t know anything about them. For all we know, our best friends on-line may be perverts, p*dophile, ex-convicts, scammers or any of the likes.mumbling

It is true that birds of feather flock together; we communicate with those with more or less the same outlook, but can we really call them friends? I'm not so sure if they satisfy the general criteria of being friends.dunno

UK's X files release delayed, again!

Release of 18 files containing details of unidentified aerial phenomena, that's UFOs to you & me, have been delayed again, till at least next March uh oh included in these files is "The Redlesham Forest incident, which is alleged to have taken place near USAF Woodbridge, Suffolk, in 1980, saw US Airman First Class John Burroughs, who was stationed there, exposed to radiation after a mystery "UFO visitation", though I spent a week on the base I am unable to tell you what I discovered about this incident uh oh sigh

The new timing for the release is I think highly significant professor by March the new president for the USA will have been sworn in & the UK will have activated article 50 to leave the EU, one doesn't have to be a rocket scientist to work out there's a cover up here, there are several possibilities, could Hillary in fact be an alien robot, her health issues a dummy to cover the software flaws that give her robotic movement & make her fall over regularly dunno the same could be said of Junker at the EU, his speeches often described as rambling & indecipherable, or could we be missing the real clue that no human has hair like Donald dunno or as they never seem to talk with each other could the entire British cabinet be alien robots with a communications problem, indeed if that's the case I suspect Russian hackers to be behind that professor

Everyone has a price

An old saying that's so true, to a point, have a look at this picture currently doing the rounds on Facebook -

This man can not be bought, there isn't enough money to do so, in any event why would he need to be dunno these few old families have had complete control for years, under the current system of election for office in the west candidates have to campaign, this costs millions, they don't have that kind of money to throw around, so from the time they first join a political party they will have been watched, like a secret service looks to turn enemies into double agents, the more corrupt, sexually deviant the better, more to hold over them, their career in politics will have been carefully nurtured and every crime duly logged for later use, when the time is right they will be pushed forward to be the new puppet, to enact whatever plan their master has in mind for them, when their time in office is done they'll be rewarded, do you really think banks would pay millions for an old has been politician to give speeches laugh just a way of accounting for their payment for services rendered.

We need untouchable politicians, assuming we don't want to go down the communist route, which has always led to a system just as corrupt, so until we can come up a way finding such people imo our best hope is people with enough money that buying them isn't easy as falling off a log.

Future of humanity

"World leaders have reacted with anger after North Korea carried out its fifth and reportedly biggest nuclear test."

So does this mean that any country now can test nuclear weapons without regard to our environment ? More importantly how will it impact humanities' future? Anyone?

Which country is next? I'm sure if Korea can do this, the rest of the world can, right?
