Christmas gifts for yourself...what would it be?

I know this is something that is not the typical gift. It really has not appealed to me since the first day I have heard of them. But now...especially with Covid....I am going to wish for Santa to deliver me one of Robert's silk screen pillows. Hopefully it would be new and not used. rolling on the floor laughing

God Bless the USA! Court Lowers Trump Bond From $464 Million to $175 Million. Due in 10 days.

“ The Appellate Division, First Judicial Department of the New York State Supreme Court has granted a stay of enforcement on the $464 million judgment on former President Donald Trump with conditions, allowing the Trump Organization to avert having assets imminently seized by the New York Attorney General.

The order came after defense attorneys argued a $464 million bond was impossible after having contracted four brokers to negotiate with more than 30 companies. Sureties don’t issue bonds that big for private individuals, and even if the Trump Organization was a public conglomerate they could issue such a bond to, it would require some $570 million in cash to cover additional premiums.

The court’s conditions for lowering the bond include President Trump posting $175 million within 10 days and the other orders on the judgment going into effect.

The judgment permanently bars former Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg and comptroller Jeffrey McConney from serving in financial control of any New York business entity; permanently bars President Trump, Mr. Wesselberg, and Mr. McConney from serving as an officer or director of any New York corporation for three years; bars President Trump from applying for loans for New York financial institutions for three years; and bars Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump from serving as an officer or director in New York for two years.

There was no stay requested for the continuance of an independent monitor overseeing financial matters in the Trump Organization or the installation of a compliance officer, and that will continue.

The stay is conditioned on the appeals being done by September 2024.

Just a thought

It saddens me that blogs aren't as active as they used to be. While some people still post, only a few interact, unlike the forums. Let's revive it and make it as lively as it was before.handshake wineIf you meet someone here, how long before you do a video call? I met my ex-husband here; we just emailed, and social media wasn't a thing in the past. Just wondering.

Soaring gas prices

Yesterday a gallon of gas shot up from $3.33 to $3.75. I remember fours years ago back in the spring of 2020 a gallon of gas was under $2.00.

What's the price of a gallon a gas where you're living?

And thank you - if someone can explain to me, how to upload here a video in the blogs - with the standstill picture of the view of a video like this. I can see that many of us can do, though I also tried, I could not succeed. :)

Touched a nerve...

This week, the first primetime hearing of the House Select Committee to Investigate the Jan. 6 Attack on the Capitol has touched a nerve with Trump supporters everywhere. Reports are popping up that Trump himself is trying to backstroke about statements and Tweets made regarding the events surrounding the attempted coup.
That falls into the category of a river in Egypt... Denile.

15 years and now this, ungrateful sod

I can't believe the change in him since we came to Spain - oh, he's never been what you'd call devoted. There was a lot of open space in this relationship, but he was home every night. Well, nearly every night. Most nights. Even if I went to sleep alone he was there when I woke up, pressed up against me, well you know how it is. All lovey-dovey, eyes only for me, no-one else matters, yeah yeah. Whatever.

Fifteen years.

Now he comes home just to eat, gobbling his food, then he's gone again with barely a backward glance. He'd probably say it's my fault for dragging him on one too many property hunts. Huh. It's just an excuse. He's offended by living in a van and looking for better, that's crystal clear.

Well, fine. FINE. Throw away 15 good years. See the tear in my eye? No, because you won't. You can go to hell.

This Is What She Wanted

Well, as they say, all good things come to an end. And this was a good one. I felt kind of sad when I took her home earlier. She’s leaving today and we said our good-byes. When I met her I thought it would be one or two dates and then good bye. I never dreamed that it would develop into such a pleasant encounter. I will remember her for a long time. daydream

Finding a suitable gift for her did not prove such a challenge at all. I must thank Stargazer for giving me the idea. Friday afternoon, after cutting the sketch that she admired so much into a rectangular shape, I left it on the dining room table where she could not miss it. She did not give me the opportunity to offer it to her. She asked for it; the only thing she ever asked from me. rose

We had it framed Saturday morning and collected it on Monday. I must admit that it looks better with the frame, but I still think the frame is worth more than the sketch. Mind you, it has moved up in value since it ruined a perfectly good panel saw while trimming the edges. It lost some detail at the bottom and the sides in order to get the edges straight. There was some sort of a ditch with some water on the foreground; part of it still visible at the bottom. The size of it is 618mm X 411mm.gift

The sketch has a rather obscure history. I did it out of boredom, on an irregular shaped piece of scrap asbestos left by the builders, while waiting for the fire to get ready. It took no longer than 30 minutes or so. I used a piece of charcoal from a previous fire to draw it. When the fire was ready, my uncompleted ‘masterpiece’ landed back on the heap of building scrap where it was in the sun, wind and rain for a few months. You can notice the discoloration on the left and top. It still needed plenty of work but it was never intended to survive. doh

When they eventually came to remove the rubble, my brother-in-law preserved my ‘masterpiece’ for greater honors by putting it in the garage where it stood collecting dust for another two years before a woman from Gauteng noticed it when I brought her home the first time. The rest of it is already told.blah

I hope it brings her the same sweet memories as her gift brings me when I listen to my music. My gift to her compares poorly with the Bluetooth speakers she bought me but this is what she wanted. conversing
