Dating for the Aware

Having been a member of CS for approximately 2 months, I’ve made certain observations.

1. From reading the comments of others, I’ve concluded that some people have been members for many years. Although the site may offer a sense of camaraderie and support, amongst other things, it would appear that often it may not lead to finding a long-term partner.

2. It’s apparent that there is a very high number of scammers on the site, which is probably due to it being a free site. Sifting through many unwanted messages is very time consuming.

3. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s very difficult to find members in my local area, Initially I thought this was due to the fact that I live in a fairly remote area, but from others’ comments, I get the sense that it’s more pervasive. In order to establish a real relationship, I believe that people actually need to meet in person, so this is clearly somewhat problematic.

4. Perhaps one of the things that has taken me aback most is the fact that a few profile pictures are actually of people wearing masks. In psychological terms, wearing a mask is akin to a person hiding his or her true self and is the complete antithesis of being authentic. Why anyone would choose to put up a profile picture on a dating site with at least two thirds of their face obscured by a mask defies belief. I cannot make any sense of it. Why put up a picture at all? But, obviously it does say a lot about anyone who would choose to do that. Having received one or two messages from people wearing masks, which I ignored, I chose to reply to one and challenge this. Whether doing this made any real difference, I’ll never know.

All this has left me wondering what people are actually looking for on a dating site like CS. I’m guessing that it’s probably very different things for different people. If people are not actually looking for a partner, I’d really be interested to know what draws them to a site, which is designed for single people who do want to find a partner.

Dating, as in every other area of life, involves making choices. Coming from a place of self awareness means being really conscious of the choices we make. In relation to online dating, I believe that in addition to many other factors, the issue of whether the other person has taken the jab or not is likely to become increasingly important in the future.

BUT WAIT, THERES MORE

It seems of late that there have been some competitions happening where the winner can receive a dinner for 6,
also another competition where the winner receives 6 Steak Knives,
but wait, Theres more or shouldn’t there be more? dunno
The competition where we could only choose 5 friends to take to a fancy restaurant as the first prize, many people said they had more than 5 friends. dunno
Wouldn’t it stand to reason then, that if that person was to win 6 Steak Knives, they would need more, due to their having more than 5 friends? dunno
I’m a little perplexed as to why anyone would enter such a competition if the prize could not be shared amongst all their friends. confused
Let’s say Miss 1a had 8 friends,
she would have to look for a competition that had a prize she could share 9 ways, (herself and 8 friends). doh
Then what about Mr 2b, he has 12 friends, so the only competition he could enter would be where he could share his prize 13 ways. (Himself and his 12 friends). doh
Of course, if you had only 3 friends and the prize was for 6,8,even 10 dinners, steak knives, pizzas or whatever, Then you would have to go and make more friends, after all we can't have too many friends can we. dunno doh
Hang on, why look for more friends, as that would only limit the competitions you can enter, best to stay with the 3 you have and then enjoy your prize without feeling bad about not sharing with all your friends. dunno
So maybe, it is wise for those of us that have more than 3 friends, should look at our friends and see which ones we can cut from the list,
as friends, I’m sure they would understand the reasoning behind our decision. If not, they probably shouldn’t be our friends in the first place. dunno confused
Another option would be to have no friends, so you can enter any competition and never have to worry about sharing the prize with anyone. dunno
But surely, we all deserve at least 1 friend. If only to share whatever prize we would win if we did in fact win a competition.
The only other alternative I see, is not to enter any competitions,
thus we wouldn’t have to worry about what the prize was, how many we would have to share it with, and even if it was a “real” prize.
After all, haven’t the competitions on here lately been make believe anyway. I hope that doesn’t mean our friendships here are make believe. dunno confused
“Friendship
is not something you learn in school.
But if you haven't learned the meaning of friendship,
you really haven't learned anything”.

I was bored and wrote this blog for laughs, please do not take it seriously. Relax and enjoy.
Make believe prizes will be given at random intervals during the life of this blog

(a story for becca) and for the rest too 12

days of rain and humidity. Everything around us is wet. A small fire that we keep alive, just for a coffee, or for heating up cans of beans everyday ,can not dry not even our gloves .
tents and blankets wet too.our raincoats after all this rain stopped being waterproof any more.
Capt. says, we must have completely dry underwear and socks, but it is impossible as long as it rains. our weapons and ammunition the same . i fart and think of sweet becca ,teasing me every time we ate beans , back to the farm.
seems like it was 100 years ago last time i heard her laughing as i was climbing our stairs to the bedroom farting on every stair.
"Sergeant", i heard the voice of the radio operator, "the captain wants to see u ,in his tent, now".
I put the helmet and followed the soldier to the commander's tent
i am greeting the captain as i am Entering leader and he shows me a stool, to sit
"George , i will not spend ur time on great details, the headquarters wants to take a look at the village, behind the hill.
we need it as an artillery observatory
. until yesterday seemed in enemies possession , but they have new information ,that the place has been evacuated .dont know the reason , but we want the place at all costs.
take four of ur men , a mini gun , hand grenades and enough ammo , a radio too. try to be extra careful my friend.if u will find any signs of enemy presence , come back a.s.a.p."
return to my platoons trench.i did my choice fast .market , cymber, ed and simmo , get the mini gun and some boxes of ammo, four grenades each also .cymber u will carry a radio too.dont take too much with u , only for one day food / water and a blanket or two.put on ur raincoats and ur helmets and lets go.

When I’m 64

I will be 64 next month; it’s time I started thinking about bungalows and beige overcoats. There is planning to be done if my transition into geriatricity is to be smooth and trouble free.

In order to avoid any sudden expense, I need to start accumulating my future wardrobe now. There will be comfy shoes that don’t aggravate my corns to buy, preferably slip-ons so I won’t have to bend to tie the laces. I’ll need baggy trousers that come up to my chest, and woolly jumpers for the summer. It is an annoying fact that the fashion industry is only really interested in the younger generations: If you wanted to buy a brand new pair of jeans that look worn out and are full of holes you would have no problem finding them, but just try looking for shirts that come with gravy stains already down the front and it’s a different matter. I have yet to decide whether I will wear a hat. A flat cap or trilby, perhaps; all I know for sure is that it won’t be a baseball cap.

Certain habits need to be developed; I should be working on them now if they are to become ingrained by the time I need them. That sporadic nibbling motion of the lower jaw doesn’t just develop on its own, it needs to be practised until it becomes second nature if you are to remember to do it even when there is nothing in your mouth to chew. I have always been a curious person, so coming to a sudden halt in the middle of the pavement and staring with mouth agape at anything that catches my interest will probably come quite naturally to me.

We often underestimate the aged. Driving at 30 mph on the motorway takes a lot of self discipline; just try it if you’re in any doubt. Likewise with ignoring no entry signs and doing very slow U turns at busy traffic lights. Then there is the holy grail of the elderly driver: going the wrong way down the motorway, achieved only by the very ambitious. There is so much going on on the roads these days and it’s not easy to remain oblivious to it all; it needs to be worked at, particularly when you are trying to incorporate a significant element of inconsistency into your driving at the same time. Being able to cause an accident without being directly involved in it is a very subtle skill indeed.

I don’t yet know whether I will be the endearing granddad type or the miserable old git; probably the latter, no point in wasting the skills I already have.
