Considerations & Questions:

Does loving everyone on the principle of the matter mean not loving ANYone in particular?

Corollary consideration: Does loving everyone mean you can't conscience removing from a population the individuals who would injure/torment/cheat/kill others in that population?

If love is as love does then love does what is best for the Beloved, I think. Part of that is honoring them and their free will, their privacy, their right to self direction.

I ask the above questions with God in mind. It often seems to me He has abandoned this world to its own devices and I think that, were I a world builder, I'd be more involved, but there's a fine line when one considers parenting such a large and diverse population.

My little sister was a drug abuser and addict from the time she was 15. She died at the age of 44 from her drug abuse. I had always thought Mom ought to let her crash and burn so she'd experience the consequences and hit bottom and get ready to recover earlier and have more of her life in which to accomplish things. I think that sometimes "love" means letting go or even allowing the one you love to experience the consequences of their actions/inactions. Natural consequences are the best teacher and maybe that's why God is so noninterventionist.

I'd like to know what my friends in the CS sphere think, if you've a mind to share.

Thank you... teddybear

Odd couple

I met these people, and for all I know they met on CS although that would be a fantastic coincidence and, if they read this blog, a little embarrassing. So I shall say nice things. They ARE nice.

He is, I don't know, middle-aged, very fit and bronzed, good-looking, with a drop-dead-gorgeous French accent for the perhaps 2 dozen English words he knows. Which is about as many French words as I know. He does also speak a little Spanish. About as much as I do. That's really not a lot of Spanish.

She is a little younger, mid to late forties? extremely attractive, Spanish, lives a few hours up the coast from here. She speaks no French and no English.

They are staying a week. Would you go away on holiday with someone you basically couldn't understand or speak to except in the most general of terms? For a week?

Kissing frogs

Why, WHY, go looking for more frogs to kiss when you already met someone? Don’t we join singles website to meet someone special, to buy a ticket in the love lottery and hope to hit the jackpot? Okay, not every ticket pays out, not every date rings the bell, and a lot of princes and princesses are depressingly slimy and croaky in the flesh. frog

But if you’ve met someone and you’re seeing them regularly, it’s looking good, and more to the point, they trust you, STOP FCUKING AROUND.

There ARE people here who are openly in relationships, enjoy the blogs, and are utterly trustworthy. There are others who simply cannot resist temptation, and if you are one of those, remove it altogether. GO. Leave CS, leave singles websites altogether, tell the truth when others flirt with you, give your relationship a proper chance.

I do, we all do, wish you all the best luck in the world if you do hug

Oi. This is not about me!!!! I am single heart-free and very available flirty batting

And yes sigh have a tendency to interfere and give advice. But no other major faults. Cross my heart laugh

Once Upon A Time

There was a sad and lonely little troll. He lived under a remote bridge in the land of Nod.

Everyone knew he was a troll, except for him. He thought he was a knight in shining armor. Other trolls would attempt to get to know him, but he would threaten them with his imaginary sword and yell at them "Be gone, unthightly Troll!"

Each day, one or two passers by would try to cross his bridge. He would lisp, "Fee Fi Fo Fum, who attempths to croth my bridge?? I will eat you alive, inthignificant human!"

Many of the would be bridge crossers would back away from the troll in fear. They didn't want to mess with him, even if all he could do was give them a good gumming.

One day a fiery witch came to the bridge. The troll stepped out menacingly, waving his invisible sword. "Be gone from my bridge, little witch! I will thtew you alive!"

The witch looked amused at the poor troll. She approached him gently and said, "Poor little troll, who has told you that you are a white knight? You are a sad and lonely little troll. But with the wave of my magic wand and with the help of my magic mirror, I will help you to see the truth."

She held up the mirror and waved her wand and for the first time, the troll saw himself as he really was. He dropped to his boney little knees and began to weep.

The witch patted him on the head and said, "it will be alright, little troll. All it will take is a few years of psychotherapy. Your bitterness will fade and as it does you will transform into the knight you wish you could be."

With that, the witch crossed the bridge, unimpeded, leaving the little troll to his breakthrough as she carried on to her fabulous costume ball.

Relationships and Algorithms

Many dating sites use mathematical algorithms to match people. And charge a lot of money for this service.

However, according to an article I recently read in the Washington Post, they are no better than random choice.

Why? Because they match basically on personality.
But studies have shown that people of similar personalities in long term relationships only make up 0.5% of the total, so basing a match on similar personalities is doomed to failure.

Relationship success basically depends on three things:
1. Individual characteristics - like whether you’re smart or what kinds of hang-ups you have around relationships
2. Quality of interaction - how you hit it off in-person;
3. Surrounding circumstances — stuff like your race or health or financial status.
(Finkel et al)

I was watching a series recently called Married at First Sight, where couples are matched scientifically by a panel.

4 couples were matched. They met for the first time at the altar. One couple had an obvious instant attraction to each other. All couples liked each other. They were well matched.

Fast forward 6 months. The only couple still together was the one who were instantly attracted to each other. The rest liked each other as friends only.

Maths and science can do so much, but nothing can account for that 'je ne sais quoi' or chemistry between people

The love thing

I have blogged on this before, but I never got an answer that made sense to me so bear with me. To get the right answer, you have to ask the right question, so I’m trying. (I know, very roll eyes)

I’m picky, okay, and there haven’t been many men in my life. When it reached decision time, commit to sharing lives or call it a day, I have in the past tried to commit, and felt so claustrophobic the relationship crashed, or I’ve backed out, and felt mainly relief - along with loneliness and regret, of course. But always, relief.

I asked a friend if I was doomed to be single for the rest of my life and he said yes. rolling on the floor laughing Bugger. Okay, well I've probably run out of time now anyway, but I do wonder what I’ve missed out on. See, I’ve blamed myself for not being able to fall in love but – what is love? Was I waiting for a Hollywood emotion that doesn’t exist? What IS it?

What do you do when your doctor tells you you have 2 maybe 3 days to live.

I've been a member of CS for over 7 years now. Been blogging on & off most of that time, have made some good friends on here, but seems even some of them don't believe a word I say moping That's a bit cutting as I've never knowingly told a lie either here or in the real world, but I made a comment on Usha's blog & even some of the regulars don't believe what I said was true wow Makes mental note to review my friends judgement writing

So back to the original OP what do you do, well that fits into three categories, the first being exactly what you're told to do, then secondly you don't rent any long movies professor Thirdly you don't choose this week to give up smoking, I mean what's it going to do, kill you laugh I've always had a passion for fast cars so sort of envisioned the end would be say a 400 year old oak tree with my head buried in it, not something the size of an atom mumbling Problem with things that small they breed faster than rabbits & before you know it there's billions of the little buggers eating you alive help I'm a little short on detail as one of the side effect of an infection in your head is total deafness, I did manage to catch the doctor saying I was lucky, hmmm well to me lucky would have been not getting it in the first place, but by Saturday, I'd been taking painkillers for weeks which I realised weren't doing my any favours so cut right back, and it was then I realised how serious it was & decided to go to a private clinic, she told me I probably wouldn't have made it till Monday wow

My thanks to my neighbour & Biff who've been driving me to the clinic, I can't drive myself as the council have been out putting bends in all the roads that weren't there last week, plus I'm now banned by the doctor due to one of the pile of tablets I have take day & night is a narcotic yawn

So you can choose to believe this blog or not, but i will tell you the lab that did bloods works on my sample today did question whether they came from someone still alive rolling on the floor laughing

Song Remakes...

I listen to a local classic rock music radio station that has a few hours of talk show in the morning and music at 10am. One day, they talked about little known groups who re-record famous songs that help start their career. They stated, the price to pay for this is 50% of the total royalties.

YouTube is my favorite source for music and I often follow song remakes.
For this blog, I picked "You keep Me Hangin On" in 1966 by The Supremes, remade (as a psychedelic rock song) by Vanilla Fudge in 1967, and again remade in 1986 with a disco beat by Kim Wilde.
