When a relationship goes sour the story has three sides; his story, her story and the truth, which is somewhere - not necessarily midway - in between.

It is easy to run people down in their absence since they are not there to defend themselves. Unfortunately, until we hear the other side of the story, it has no credibility and it remains gossip.

But let’s forget about the moral issues of gossip for a minute and look at the practical impact of the matter.

When I read something like this, the first thing that comes to my mind is: Hell, I’m glad it is not my character being dismantled here. I’d be too scared to get involved with such a person in fear of the same thing happening to me. I consider myself as fairly average in my thoughts and believe that I’m not alone it thinking this way.

This does not begin and end with lovers and ex-lovers. The same holds true for friends, family, employers, etc. Most of us are guilty of it to some extend and we all love to hear a juicy story but as I said earlier, we can attach no value to it until we hear the other side of the story.

All that you can achieve by running somebody down is to alienate yourself from somebody else who may have been interested in you. But what you really told us about yourself is that you are unhappy in your environment and unable to cope with it.

To the non-native English speaker, learning English can be a nightmare. Especially when you don’t have a good tutor on standby. Not that my own language is unblemished. We have exceptions to every rule and even rules to those exceptions with their own exceptions.

But what boggles my mind the most about English is how to pronounce the words. Why is it that the ough in similar looking words like cough, plough, through, tough, and though are pronounced different in each case. How am I to know how to pronounce it without the help of a native English-speaking person, bearing in mind that half our English teachers, esp in primary school, could not speak proper English.

As if that is not enough they also invented an animal called phrasal verbs. Things like throw up, throw down, throw in, and throw out. My first reaction will be to believe that throw up and throw down must be opposite actions but vomit and drop are not even related actions.

Next, we have make up, make over, and make out. Make up is such an interesting verb with at least 11 different meanings ranging from resolving an argument to fabricating a BS story.

If make up describes the action of applying facial cosmetics then surely the process of removing it, must be make down and, by the same logic, if shut up is an instruction to keep quiet then shut down must be permission to talk again. Right?

Then I did not even mention talk over, talk into, talk down, talk up, and talk out. Oh, and then we still have take on, take off, take in, take out, take over, take up, and take down. If an airplane takes off from one location, does it take on at the destination? I think not.

The strangeness of it all is that most these phrasal verbs have perfectly acceptable equivalents. Why can’t we rather use them? It is so much less confusing. Oops, was that an oxymoron?

I think I should stop it right here because one thing will only lead to the next and we will be here all day. But all this makes me wonder exactly who invented English and what they were smoking at the time.

Yup, whole villages, and while few of us (any?) could afford one on our own, CS, this is our chance to turn our global on-line village into the real deal for returning to a simpler, happier life, or even just time-share holidays We could squabble in PERSON!

For those who don't follow links, $230K (negotiable) will buy us 100 acres, 6 houses, 2 farms and even a stand-alone bread-making kitchen ... a nice little starter village, plenty of room to expand.

okay that's Northwest Spain, not many of our resident bloggers in that area (actually probably none) and even the article doesn't rave about the weather. Still knocks holes in Scottish weather, mind.

But it isn't the only village, probably just the cheapest. There are hundreds - even thousands - in lush fertile areas left abandoned as rural Spaniards move to the cities. We could be onto something amazing here.

So that's today's Sunday dream.

It is so easy to spin a yarn to impress somebody but it always backfires. If it requires a lie to be the person that somebody wants you to be, it is doomed to failure; for one lie is never enough. You have to keep lying to maintain all the previous lies and before you know your whole life will be build on lies. You may even believe your own lies in the end but sooner or later the whole card house will collapse.

If you are not what the object of your affections requires you to be, give it up. You can never be exactly what other people want you to be; they will always find fault with it. You will be pretending and that will make you a fake. And sooner or later fakes are always discovered.

Don’t try to change yourself into what others want you to be and don’t expect them to do it; you will be wasting your time with one unsuccessful relationship after the other. Precious time that could have been used to find somebody who likes you just the way you are.

Sure, work on your shortcomings, by all means. Develop and better yourself. Those who can accept you with all your flaws will only like you more if you improve yourself. Widen your horizons but in the directions that you want to go. Don’t allow others to decide what you want to be. Only you know who you really want to be.

Remember, you cannot ever please everybody so please yourself. Those who do not like you as you are not worth your time.

I listened to a video of EM on his take about AI.

"Artificial Intelligence doesn't have to harm humanity but if man is it's way, it will destroy it. Like ants, we don't hate them, but when we build roads and they're on the way, they get sacrificed. "

This had always bothered me since I heard of this speech. I love Elon, I admire and he gets all my respects, after this I've been disturbed and has so many questions.

I said: "well since AI is created by man, then good man makes good AI as well as bad man with bad AI."

Lo and behold, I read just now that AI can in itself creates its own.

How will this impact the future of humanity? Anyone?

as many times , u ll try to control it , it always goes on its own direction.
every new commentator gives his own momentum , usually to the other direction , of the one u like to see ur topic heading.

It's that time of the month again!
I'm feeling miserable, have a headache and just don't feel like doing anything . Even a pint of coffee and some cinnamon rolls don't help at all

When I get crazy like this, many things just randomly come in my mind...like the things that I like in men: hairy, nice bums, fun and jerk-"ish". does "size" really matters? They said it's not the size of your wand but it's the magic that you create when you wave it...

I'm petite, size small, size 1 and sometimes not happy about it... specially when I go to buy some shoes, I always have trouble finding my size. How small is small and how big is big?
